September 2011 - The Planning Has Started!!!

My princess is here! She was born at 5:01 after one and a half pushes! She's 8 lbs 5 oz and 20 inches and a perfect doll. the only thing they had to do was break my water when I got to 9 cm, but other than that I did it on my own!

I know that I've asked this queston before but I had very little response....it's about ADR"s.......we really want to eat in HS or really close by...I have tried Mama Melrose and was disappointed and 50's isn't might type of food....but I have read so many awful things about Sci-Fi...we are on DDp and I like to use my credits to their full potential (like tutto italia and teppan edo!!!!) I don't even know what is close by to HS (we want to spend most of the evening there and not 1 1/2 communting back and forth) HELP!

You could walk (or take a boat) to one of the restaurants in the Boardwalk area resorts. Cape May Cafe usually gets good reviews. It looks like it's about a 15 minute walk from the front gates of DHS.

Congratulations Dani! I hope you and your baby are doing well! Welcome to all our new September travelers as well! So many great new stories to read and share! Love it.

@Pinkle-as far as the hardest restaurants to get ADRs at I'd say some of the most popular restaurants are Le Cellier, Ohana, CRT, Akershus, and California Grill.

We always have problems coming up with where we want to eat when we go to HS. First visit we tried Hollywood & Vine (I think its our least favorite place in all of WDW! Just not impressed at all), then we tried 50's Primetime Cafe, which we liked alright and then our last visit we tried Mama Melrose-which we liked alright too. This trip we're going to go check out Boardwalk I think to try Kouzzina that night. (plans may change) I think that the Boardwalk, Epcot and there are plenty of resort dining close enough to make it worth the while to travel outside of the park to eat if you're not overly impressed with any of the dining choices at H.S. We have no real interest in trying Sci Fi and don't think we want to use 2 credits for Brown Derby. If I had to pick one I'd go back to Mama Melrose though.

ADRs made! Whoo-hoo!! Got everything we wanted and within 15 minutes of our preferred time.

I think I definitely prefer doing them online, although I did miss hearing the wonderful Disney music while onhold on the phone. I should have found Disradio online or something.

Now to pay everything off (which won't be happening until July).

Did any of you September travelers book your flights with Jet Blue this morning?

I was up at 4 am and was very happy to see the fares were fairly reasonable

was able to snag fares of $122 down and $97 back for a total of $480.80 for both me and DH and our credits covered it plus I still have $96 left over.

I did pay OOP for the travel insurance JB offered it was cheaper than thru disney only $39 for both of us.

Pinkle -- since we usually only do CS at DHS, I'm not much help. We ate at 50s on our very first trip and we liked it. I don't remember what I had, though. All I can remember is ordering (and devouring) the s'mores dessert. It was yumtastic!!!

We have eaten at all the major places Mama Melrose, Prime Time, Sci Fi Brown Derby and Hollywood & Vine , each one had it good points and bad,I am not in a hurry to return to any of them.
The last time we were at DHS we took the boat over to BW and ate at ESPN one of our favorites. There are quite a few good places between all the Epcot Resorts and it does not take that long for the boat ride plus I personally find the boat ride very enjoyable.

We have eaten at SciFi 3 times, Mama Melrose once, and Brown Derby once. I loved Brown Derby and can't wait to go back once the girls are older. I think SciFi is very good and can't understand all the negative reviews. My oldest was looking through our past Disney pictures yesterday, saw us sitting in the car at SciFi and requested doing that again. (I was just planning on doing CS in HS.) The only place I wouldn't return to was Mama Melrose, it just was so bland. I'm sure if we tried something else it could be good, but I feel no desire to try again.

Wow! I missed a lot this weekend!!!

Congrats on the baby coming, Dani!!!! And without having to be induced!!!!

Welcome to all the new people on the thread! It's great to see it growing.


So, I have news for everyone. Yesterday we did it! We are now the proud owners of DVC!!!!!! After a lot of thought, we decided on AKV!!!!

Of course, that meant cancelling our room only reservation and booking with points, but we got AKV for 9/16-9/19 savannah view and we got BLT for 9/19-9/23 with a lake view!!!!

We had to lose club level and Magic Kingdom view, but it's so worth it!

It seems so surreal right now. But September will be our official first trip HOME!!!!!

Well, I have yet another change. I'm so excited! When our agent called Disney to cancel our AKL days he some how pulled strings to get 2 days of free dining on our Pop Century reservation extended!!!! It wasn't that we couldn't go for those 2 days, we just didn't want to pay the price of AKL plus the cost of food. I am SO excited!

Awesome! Any extra days is always a benefit!

I am so glad you all have been having great results using online ressie's. One question--I did a practice request and just said breakfast and it gave me 2 times...How can you get closest to your time you really want. . Any suggestions?

I love the DIS---reminds me my love for Disney is not nuts like some of my "non-Disney" friends around here think!!

I just booked our first trip to WDW! We are going to celebrate my husband's homecoming from Afghanistan... we expect him home mid August and will be in the World from Sept. 10-17! I am so excited, both for his homecoming AND this trip!

Hope the time flies by until your hubby is home safe with you. Glad you are getting to celebrate with a trip to Disney. Thank you for the sacrifices that your husband and your family make for the rest of us!

One question--I did a practice request and just said breakfast and it gave me 2 times...How can you get closest to your time you really want. For example, I would want Donald's at 8am so we can go get in line for Safari before they let people in the park.

Instead of putting down breakfast as your time, pick the time you want. If you scroll past meal periods, it will break it down into specific times, by the hour.

We're looking to do TH before rope drop too. GL!

13 days until I can make ADRs!!!! Eeep!

It stinks that it's on a Sunday, but I'm hoping that not many people will be willing to get up before 6am to book their ADRs. The only one I'm worried about is CRT, but DD8 said last night that she would either like CRT or Akershus so at least I have a back-up plan.

DH is also thinking he may want to add DHS to the schedule just so he can torture DD8 by making her go on RNRC and ToT. He's eeeevil!!!
