September 2011 - The Planning Has Started!!!

I can't wait to take my boys to MNSSHP! We're not doing it this year because I think they're just too young still. It wouldn't end well starting about 10:30p or so. :rotfl: Maybe next year!

That's okay, that gives you a great reasom to plan next year!!!!! It keeps you coming back. My oldest son (18) will not be joining us this year, he will be in college but my youngest will be 16 and he keeps wanting to go back. We've gone 6 times in the last 7 years! We took one year off for a cruise, I wonder how much longer he will want to visit the Mouse?

I'm really hoping that we'll get to go every year or at least every other year. :goodvibes Especially since our boys are so young.

When we took our girls for their first time back in 2008 (Grand Gathering with 14 of my family members!!), we had decided on every other year. So, we went in 2010 (the 4 of us and my parents could only go this time), with the original thought of going back in 2012. Well, right after we left, DH (who didn't really get the Mouse Fever until after our trip in 2008) said we should just go ahead and go in 2011. Who was I to argue?! So, less than a month after getting back from our 2010 trip, I had our 2011 reservations made. We probably won't go back until 2013 at the earliest after this next trip. DH's parents are in Texas, so we probably will visit them in 2012, along with a trip to the beach for a week.

We did MNSSHP last year and had a great time! And DH and my parents and I absolutely trick or treated!!! We also went to a park for morning hours, went back to the resort to chill out and nap, and then headed over to MK around 6ish, ate a counter service @ Cosmic Rays and then enjoyed the party. It was incredible walking into the MK for the party... so many people leaving the park... this sounds incredibly snobbish and I certainly don't mean to come off this way... but I felt very priviledged to get to go to a "special" event. For years, I had always envied those who could stay on property, go to Disney for more than a couple of days (like I did as a kid... never stayed on property until 2008) and always thought "One day, I'll make it happen".

Down to 197 days! :)

Welcome to the new travelers!

Just thought I'd show everyone our candy stash from MNSSHP in 2008.

Here's my story--
I wanted to go see the characters. DH wanted to ride the rides. Kids wanted to ToT.
I MADE DH ToT with all of us b/c he was grumpy-- he needed sugar!!!

After going thru the first line and seeing all the candy they gave him , he was the biggest kid of all, getting in line, checking out the CM's to see whose hands were bigger so they'd give him more candy....:lmao:

Anyway- here's our haul. It filled the halloween bag- the one with Mickey on it (the Tink one was the one they gave out at the gates, the halloween one was a purchase with purchase at the resort gift shop). I think it was 20 pounds of candy to be honest.

So yeah--- adults trick or Treat too.:goodvibes
My DH will tell anyone and everyone that it is his favorite memory of WDW.

I was wondering............my DN is coming with us, this will be his first time at the parks. Is it worth mentioning it when we check in? I know he will receive a 'first time' button, not sure if at 13 that is cool???? Is there any benefit????:confused3

The kids all still fight over who is using it every year for ToT'ing.

And it was MY present from DH!!!

That sounds completely normal over here! :goodvibes

My son insists *my* refillable mug is his. And my daughter wants my 3D Mickey snowman popcorn bucket as soon as I find the 3D Mickey ghost popcorn bucket.

I had weird dreams about Disney vacation planning. No more DIS right before bed. ;)

My maps came today. :woohoo: We're doing a countdown party Wednesday (we're doing one each month on the 23rd) so I will break them out then.

I stole it from another DISer, just don't remember who.

So does anyone have any meals they recommend at DHS? I may just pack a light dinner the night we are there and grab a snack. I don't mind blowing money on food at the parks, but not on gross food

Wow I had a lot of catching up to do, you all been chatting away. I was under the weather for most of this week, still not 100% but getting there.Jo- that was quite a haul of candy you got TOT. DH is not to keen on the Party, but he did say he will wear a t-shirt costume of some kind, his mom is a big sweet eater so think I will use that as an excuse to TOT since he can take it home to her. I wanna TOT too:banana:

We added another day to our trip so now we will be going
September 25 to Oct 3.Wanted to add a day at the beginning but there was no availability at BC so decided to add a day at the end ....full rack rate :scared1:

Who knows may change once air fares come out and we see what days are the best. Like I told DH the difference between a non-discounted room and the air fare might even out.

Now I have to find 3 more ADR's to add to my list :)

DH got a pin for 20% off in December  Yeah right

Hi everyone. My family and I are headed to WDW Sept 24-Oct 1. We will be staying at POR Riverside, can't wait! :)

MamaJessie -- the only place we ever eat at DHS is Toy Story Pizza Planet.

And strike me down now, but there is a very good chance that we will skip DHS this trip again. I know, I know, how can I call myself a Disney addict if I skip something. :lmao:

We just really don't enjoy that park that much. There are a couple of rides/shows that we like, but it's not worth the trouble to go all the way there. We usually just do TSM, Little Mermaid, and Muppets. That's it.

I'll go sit in my corner of shame now.

This is exactly why I only have planned half of a day there on our trip. I don't see too much for us either. I'm actually debating on eating CS in DHS that day or just eating lunch when we get back at Everything Pop. Thoughts?

Thank you! :) (sorry that didn't turn out the way I wanted, very new to boards!)

JoBird-AWESOME candy haul!! Ours looked about like that from 2006. At the end of the parade the CM just kept dumping handfuls into my boys bags. They thought it was great!

MamaJessie-we like Starring Rolls for their sandwiches and desserts. You can easily share one. I think there was about a lb. of meat on it.

SJS-Congrats on adding an extra day!:woohoo:

We have had excellent meals at Sci-Fi on our last 2 trips and will definitely be headed back there on this trip. The steak salad is very good, I always get it. DH has had the steak and the shrimp pasta and really enjoyed them both. And the milkshakes are the best. :thumbsup2

As far as CS, I have yet to find a good one at DHS. :confused3
