September 2011 - The Planning Has Started!!!

CL isn't really to save money as much as it is for convenience.

I was just honestly curious what it is. What exactly does concierge do for you? All I got online for info was triple sheets, a bathrobe and a snack lounge.

Stitch - I've only done value and moderate but thought the value (ASMovies) was a lot of fun. Happy planning.

You have the convenience of the lounge, and in the Poly CL guests have a separate longhouse. The lounge has offerings for breakfast, mid-day snacks, dinner, and dessert. Aside from that there is juice, soda, water, wine, beer, and in the evening cordials.

Kicking around adding a day to the beginning of the trip so that we would get there late on thursday and have all day Friday instead of coming in late on Fri night.
Haven't done it yet... so LH, you don't have to change me.... yet. popcorn::

I would definately add an extra day if I were you! One more day of vacation is better than a day of staying home!

We have stayed at both CBR and POR and love them both! :lovestruc I would recommend either anyday.

I do give a slight edge to CBR for larger rooms, more storage space in the bathroom area, and a better pool. We are going back to CBR this time, but will probably take a little trip over to POR for dinner & to see Piano Bob!

I've been toying with the idea of CL too. . . I just can't decide if it's worth it or not. . . :confused3

Thanks for your insight! I'm not going to change again, I've been ordered to stay off the phone with Disney unless absolutely necessary!:rotfl2: Do you think there is enough room for a twin air mattress? Asking my kids to sleep together for 2 weeks may be pushing the brotherly love.

Since your staying at the Poly you may as well splurge on CL. I'm a great enabler!:rolleyes1

And whaddya mean... "yet"????????:rotfl2: You act like it's a forgone conclusion.....:rolleyes1

You mean it's not? :confused3:rotfl:
I did the Disney math on it for us and even if we went with the regular DDP instead of DxDP, it still came out to considerably more money. Also I know DH and I both like starting our day off with TS breakfast , infact the time we were upgraded to CL at YC DH and I never visited the lounge at all, both DS's did though.

I think for your family it could be worth it since you all are not big eaters in the AM it seems from reading your TR, you head back usually to the resort in the afternoons so you can take advantage of the offerings then too , also not sure if you enjoy a drink or two in the evenings but that is a nice thing about CL.
Are the views where CL rooms are located better at the Poly?

DH and I no longer drink either due to medications we are on so no appeal there for us either.

It would be about $100 more a night (even with the 30% off). That's a lot of money for robes we won't wear, a chocolate on our pillow we don't need, and I wouldn't have them make our ADR's, I like to do that myself.

The lounge would be nice, but honestly the CL longhouse that they put you in has second floor rooms with no balcony. Which seems kind of crazy to me to pay that much extra and possibly not have a balcony. The views are the same as the others -- GV or TPV, and you have to pay more for the TPV.

Yeah, I think I just talked myself right out of it! :rotfl:

But who knows, I've been known to change my mind before. :rolleyes1

You're welcome! :goodvibes Yes, there is plenty of room for a twin air mattress. We take one everytime! My kids can't sleep together either. :sad2:

You make a good point about the Poly/CL! :rotfl:

CBR is GREAT! :thumbsup2 We love the resort soooo much. If it were on the monorail it would be the bees knees for us! But since I'm traveling alone with DS and DD we need to be on the monorail. There is definitely room for an a twin air mattress in the room.

Also, TYVM for convincing me I NEED to upgrade to CL. I guess I know what I'll be doing today. :rolleyes1

I've talked myself into and out of CL so many times I get dizzy trying to count them all! I'm pretty sure we'll be upgrading though. I just wish the discount was greater than 30%. IMO it's like a slap in the face. Here, stay at one of the most desired resorts on property with the highest rates, and in turn to show our gratitude you can have a lower discount.

So true! I was really hoping for the 40% off PIN, but I wasn't one of the lucky ones this time. That's why we are doing CBR for half the trip! :goodvibes We love it a lot, so it will be the best of both worlds! (Although 40% off the Poly would make it even better ::yes:: :rotfl:)

I would LOVE to stay a portion of our trip at CBR  however I would NOT love to fight with a stroller while lugging DS7 and an infant on and off the bus. I will definitely be home sick for CBR though.

$100 a night is a lot when you put it that way! The lounge would be great for snacks and for me wine.:rolleyes1

CBRs pool is what won us over. We are going to have lots of pool time this trip. Glad an air matress will fit okay! I find it amazing that Dh and I can share a double bed but two scrawny little kids can't!

Thanks for the thumbs up for CBR! See I told you I'm good at enabling!:thumbsup2Anything else you need to be talked into?

3 Weeks from today I can make my ADR's!!!! :cool1:

Mine is 2 weeks from tomorrow! I really need to work on a plan, I have our restaurants but need to put them into days. Since we are spending 3 days at Universal but staying at CBR I need to get creative to use our credits.

Please let me know what you book!! I find that so fun...I love disney BUT I really love Disney Dining :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

ADR question...

We are staying one day on site and the rest of the trip off-site. Does the 180+10 still count even if I am off property by then?

I don't think it does. Because when you call/go online 180 days from your first day and you want to make ADR's for days after your first day you have to tie it to your resort ressie.

I am kind of in the same boat. When I go online 180 days from the first day of my first ressie (we are doing a split stay -- both at WDW resorts) I will be able to book ADR's for all of the days we are staying at the first resort. Then I will have to do it again 180 days from the first day of our second resort ressie.

:upsidedow

At least that's what happened the last time we did a split stay!

When I've done split stays they always let me book for my whole trip. Give it a try just in case.

I also emailed Disney about the crap discount at Poly. They basically told me to suck it up and "maybe you'll get lucky and get a PIN." Gee, thanks .

Joining in, me and my DBF will be in the world in September. 7th-16th at POR and 16th-19th at AKV-Kidani. I am so excited, all I am waiting for now is to book ADR's counting down the days

Oh geeze that would stink. I mean for me it is fine because I am going off site but you are staying at wdw the whole time. What if you called to make your adr?

Wow, I missed a lot over the past couple of days.

I think CL is a really personal choice. For some, it just seems like a waste of money. For others, they like having a place to get snacks and drinks and that is worth the money. I think it's a decision that nobody can help you make.

We did CL for the first time last September at both CR and Poly. CR--I'd pay the extra to be guaranteed the high floor alone. I have nightmares about being stuck right over Chef Mickey's. :rotfl2:

Poly--watching Wishes in the lounge (we had booked garden view) with a drink and not having to battle the crowds was fantastic!

Of course, there is no way I'd shell out the money without the discount! I don't believe it's worth it at full price.

By the way, we've stayed at CBR twice and LOVE IT!!! There is just something about that resort that makes me feel happy. I don't know if it's the grounds or the colors or the water or all of that. We stayed in Aruba both times with a water view. We never had a problem with getting a bus fairly quickly.

DH keeps changing his mind about going in September, but we were over at some friends' house last night who will be there when we are and the guys decided we were going to meet up for dinner at Via Napoli one night. And these are people that don't take things like that lightly, so DH just locked us in for sure!!!
