September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

I noticed that the other day, when I was just trolling the reservation systems!lol It looks to me like everything is booked solid. I'm hoping it doesn't mean the crowds are swelling to summer leveles in the fall. :scared1:

oh wow - I just looked too at Pop to just try booking a res for the same dates we are there and it said needed to try another resort - that's kinda scary... its gonna be packed there!

We are now paid up! It's one step closer to being there!

:banana::banana: Happy dance for paying off your trip. Our arrival dates are really close. DD1 and I will arrive day before and DD2 day after your family. So exciting and soooo close.

ps. I am a little jealous, we have to drive an hour to get to Earl of Sandwich and you are there in SA!

Thanks for the dance! :cool1:

EOS doesn't taste the same unless you are in DTD! So don't be too jealous! I just saw you are in Austin! It's not that far of a drive!

I wouldn't worry about the on-site bookings being full. We've gone in September the past 5 years and, while it has gotten a little busier with free dining, it's really one of the best times to go. We've never had a problem seeing and doing everything we want.

We love going in September!

Thanks MissLiz - appreciate the feedback - its the first time we have gone in September and had heard it was slower - just when I saw the resort all booked up, I kinda worried... lol... we've gone at Christmas and in June so hoping this is a better time to go...

I was thinking the same thing, I even tried pulling a room without the discounts for those days and they have zero, zilch, nada! :scared1: I may avoid the food court out of fear of all of those bodies crunched in there. :lmao:

Onsite should not be an overall indicator of crowd levels. Keep in mind free dining is being offered so that is going to cause onsite reservations to increase greatly. Also the Halloween Party and the Food and Wine Festival also increases onsite reservations. In our experience (we've gone at the end of August, and the first week of September over Labor Day weekend) that once school is back in session in the south crowds drop and then drop further after the Labor Day weekend when school is back in session in the rest of the country! Hopefully that eases your mind a bit!

These definitely do make me feel better! I know the FD made a huge difference in some of our planning, so I imagine it made a difference in a lot of families' planning. I'm still hoping for no TSs (or hurricanes) and for low crowds, I want to try to see as much as we can without a lot of waiting in loonnnngggggg lines! :woohoo:

We are renting DVC points from a member. The ressie is in his name, but with our names listed as the guests. Can I still do online check-in?

I'M PREGNANT! :)

I had my first ultrasound yesterday and found out that I'm a whopping 17weeks and 3 days pregnant. I had no idea! I've had almost zero symptoms and goodness knows I'm not showing at all. I've even lost weight! I was on the pill and it's one notoriously known for irregular periods and intermittent spotting so I didn't think anything of the craziness there.

It also looks like I'm having a girl. The tech said it was a little early to tell if it's a girl for sure, but with the lack of boy parts and some vague girl parts, she's pretty darn sure it's a girl. Everything is looking great!

I'm so THRILLED! :goodvibes

This does, however, put a wrench in our plans for Disney World. We're definitely still going to go unless something drastic happens between now and then. I'll be 25 weeks (I think) when we're down there. I think we'll now be skipping Animal Kingdom because, of the few things we do there, I can only do like one of them. Does anyone have any tips or tricks I should keep in mind?

Congratulations!!! Enjoy. Glad you aren't doing the morning sickness thing.:thumbsup2

Please add us to the list:

Me, DH, DD16 and three of her 16yo friends!:goodvibes

We went in September last time and the hotel was PACKED. However, the parks were not. We did not stand in a single line.

I have some sad news. I seriously have the worst stress headache.

We upgraded to CBR and then guess what? Dh got told yesterday he needs to take furlough days. Ugh I so wanted to cry. This isn't unusal for the summer months. But it is almost August so we thought we were safe. Guess not we upgraded paid in full on Tuesday and this am I ha to switch back to pop. Dh said to keep it and we would figure it out. I however can't do that. I need to know I can pay that CC off in full without touching savings or I cannot sleep. So we are at pop we were able to add the WP and more option to our tickets so that made me feel a bit better. I really just could cry but at least we don't have to cancle or anything.

I just wish his boss would give him more notice. Telling him the day before bites the big one. We love pop so I'm ok. But I told the kids about CBR so I feel crappy now. :sad1:

Sorry to hear you had to downgrade when you've put so much into your planning!:sad2: I'm glad you're trying to focus on the good part: that you still get to go and add the water parks too. I know you'll have an amazing time. I'm really glad there was a room at Pop since people have been talking about everything being booked solid. I find that ice cream or chocolate help at a time like this.:goodvibes

I just went to the Disney site to check all my dining reservations and it says I have no reservations at all.:scared1: It usually shows where I'm booked to stay as well as dining. Has anyone else experienced this recently?:confused3

Thanks. The weeks we are there 8/27 to 9/5 everything is available. The entire reason to upgrade to CBR was so we could spend some pool time. Because I know it is going to be super hot. So that is why we went with the WP option. Yeah I don't drink soda often. But I went to the basement and took one from Dh stash and ate a huge cookie.:lovestruc

Wow that is weird I just went on and cancled all of mine. We are sticking with the QSDP since we are staying at pop it will just be easier for us.

I just checked mine and it is all there, but don't panic! This is pretty common with the website. :confused3 It really is amazing that a company as incredible as Disney and with all those resources can't get all the bugs out. (unless that is where the gang from ITTBB is hiding :rotfl2:)

If it helps, give reservations a call and they will confirm everything.
Good Luck :thumbsup2

OH....how I wish we would get a refurbished room! :cloud9: One can hope. We are booked for a preferred room, so maybe? :wizard: a little pixie dust will hit us.

I have been following the POR resort thread for months now... they have said that the preferred room category is strictly in the AB section... so no way to have a refurbed room by Sept... as the first AB isn't started till Oct.
