September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Thanks for the info. I have learned so much from reading all these messages. I hope we are also able to see voyage of the little mermaid.

We have 45 days left...i'm so excited!

I love the autograph books. I wish I could make something that nice. I've been looking for something I can have the characters sign and then put a picture in beside it, but can't find anything under $20, and have to buy 3, so that's not going to happen.
One of the souvenirs we get every trip is a Disney autograph book that we buy at the parks. We always get the side-by-side photo and autograph option. You can wait until you get to the parks, or you can buy them online at the Disney Store (they have Disney Parks authentic ones). They run about $11 to $15 each. Sometimes the Disney Store online has sales or coupon codes that may make them cheaper. They have an adorable one for the 40th anniversary!

Basketkat--hope you heal quickly and feel better soon!! :grouphug:

40.png

In 40 days, we will be hitting the road to celebrate my 40th birthday and WDW's 40th!!!

How very cool! :)

basketkat: I'm so sorry! How awful, I hope you get better soon! Definitely take it easy at Disney or rent a scooter/WC if you need too!

Sending pixie dust your way for a speed recovery pixiedust:

Well September friends...I was at a friends house today with my girls for a birthday party. I went to step off the deck and somehow rolled my ankle really bad. I heard a huge SNAP SNAP and was instantly brought to tears. I was really embarrassed, so I tried to quietly just go sit down....

As I went to step on it I was brought to my knees! :scared1: YIKES! So I got to a chair and iced it. After a few minutes my friend moved the ice to discover my ankle was the size of a softball! :scared1::scared1: My husband was on his way to work, so he had to turn around and come get me....

After a few hours and a few x-rays....it is a severe sprain. I said "phew it's not broken" and the doctor said "It may take up to SIX months to heal all the way!" WHAT?!?! Doesn't she know I have to walk around WDW in 55 days! :lmao: They put a fancy splint on it, and I am supposed to follow up with my regular doctor. His specialty is sports medicine....I'm hoping it will heal quickly!

But wait...it gets better...so we are driving home and we get a flat tire!!!! And my spare is stuck under my car, and there is no getting it out! Sigh......

So it's sitting there waiting for somewhere to open for us to get a tire tomorrow. Hopefully they don't tow it before then....:scared1:

What a day!!! Is it time for Disney yet????? :confused3:lmao:

I am so sorry. That's so horrible in general, but even worse before vacation. This week we were rearranging furniture in our house and I dropped one of the kids' toys on my big toe and broke it. It is really sore. Not the same thing of course, but man does it hurt! Here's a sympathy hug. And here's to hoping for a speedy recovery.

It is 85 degrees, and 70% humidity here today. PLEASE tell me this is what WDW is September is like!:lmao: I'm thinking this would be FANTASTIC, but I'm not holding my breath.
I got a postcard from the middle school my youngest DD will be attending, telling me they want her to attend a two day "seminar" to acclimate her to the big change. Why exactly would my child need boot camp for sixth grade?!:rolleyes1 I can't believe the summer has gone so fast, though. I honestly hate the months when the girls are in school, I am able to spend more time with them in the summer. It doesn't help that she's not excited, she is dreading middle school. It's making me nervous with her. So, there's my rant for the day, sorry for the interruption! :rotfl:

Can anyone get me excited about Hollywood Studios? Other than Star Tours,ToT and RnR, and maybe TSM, I don't know what else we're going to enjoy? Honestly, fireworks are not our thing, so F! doesn't really appeal to us, either (I know, it's very un-Disneylike, we just don't!), so what else is there to do in DHS for a full day, since we don't have park hoppers?

We don't normally stay a whole day in DHS. But you might like to see a couple shows. Indiana Jones and Beauty and the Beast are good. Also, we walk very slowly out of the park to enjoy all the actors doing little "mini-shows" towards the front of the park. They're usually very good. We like to have a sit down lunch here which can be entertaining either at PTC or Sci-Fi. I am probably in the minority, but I really like the Great Movie Ride - and my kids love it. I think they would get mad if we skipped it :goodvibes. But like you, its not our favorite place and we're usually out of there by 3 p.m. at the latest.

Just a quick reply but as a PP poster said, I love that you can feel the excitement coming off the screen in this thread! We are all so close to our trips now! This really has been such a fun, supportive thread :).

The tie-dye shirt projects sound great!

What is everyone looking forward to buying on their trips as far as souvenirs? :woohoo: I am hoping to pick up some good 40th anniversary stuff with more retro designs on it, and we need some more Mr. Potato Head parts as DD plays with that almost every day. I am in the minority in that I buy pins but I don't trade them so I'll get a few to remind me of special things we did like MNSSHP.

Is anyone else doing a little Christmas shopping while visiting?

Love shopping at Disney! We definitely do Christmas shopping for all our nieces and nephews while we are there! I am getting a pick a pearl, we want kitchen towels, maybe a cookie jar if we find something we like, we want retro tshirts (epcot or mk , maybe both!), potato heads for both nieces, bath toys for 2 nieces and nephew, a christmas ornament, maybe some halloween decorations, mugs and much more! lol!

DH and I will do morre pin shopping. We usually buy quite a few and give them to each other for Xmas, birthdays, etc. It keeps the magic going through the year. Some towels, mugs, t-shirts, incense, body and bath stuff, and gluten free goodies from BabyCakes.
Actually BabyCakes is the first place I am going. sooo excited!!!:dancer:

I'm so excited about Babycakes! I can't eat dairy or eggs or anything with them in it. This is so exciting for me! I can't wait to have baked goods at Disney!!

Happy to be sorta caught up,,went to see The Music Man at the local theatre festival Thursday, hung with the family on friday and then went to a Brewer game yesterday...and I was 10 pages behind!

DHS is always our first day of choice!!... You listed the 5 biggest attractions but there are still more.....

Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show
The Great Movie Ride
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
Sounds Dangerous (seasonal)
American Idol Experience
Beauty and the Beast
The Magic of Disney Animation
Muppet Vision 3D
One Man's Dream
Studios Backlot Tour (unfortunately closed for renovations during our trip)
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Disney Junior – Live on Stage

Don't know if any of these appeal to you but I have been to all but 3 of them and enjoyed them.

Thanks for all of the kind words everyone! :grouphug: I am pretty sore today, but I am just taking it easy. My husband got my tire changed, and he is being great with the girls today.

I love that Epcot entrance music! Its almost one of the best parts of my trip - getting off that bus at Epcot (my favorite), hearing that music. Can't wait!

Hey everyone! I am excited to say I got a new phone & a tablet. It's so fun finding newapps. I found mouse something I forget anyhow it gives line info and restaurants etc. also got onew one disney trivia. Very neat. Which are your favorite disney apps? Didnt someone say something about and apps about and apps that had disney parade music etc? Anyhow I cant wait till we get to be at disney! Iys not soon enough well off to bed

Mickey mail just arrived!

Is it time to start packing yet?

Would you or anyone else that got their Mickey Mail already be willing to take a picture of the luggage tags to share with those of us still waiting?!

So going along with all the Pirate talk pirate: turns out we are going as pirates to MNSSHP! I am "Making" our costumes! I put "making" in "" because I am basically buying pieces to put together to look like a pirate!

I finished with DD's tonight, I had the cutest black and white striped top with a black vest already attached to it, and I got her a light pink tutu with little black capri leggings and a light pink hat I am putting a mickey pirate iron-on on! (if that at all makes sense :rotfl2:)

I finished mine also, I already had a pair of black gouchos and I found a white cute eyelet top with shoulder sleeves lace-up chest (i plan on wearing a white tank underneath) and a black vest type thing to go over it. I have a pink black and white pirate bandana already so I'm set!:thumbsup2 The best part my whole outfit cost $14, Maurices had clearence tops for $6.95 and both the vest and shirt i found there!:cool1:

Dh's costume I have no stinking idea :confused3

We are totally doing the same thing, I have black gauchos or a black skirt that I'm wearing with a white peasant top or a white tank top that has red stripes that says First Mate on it. Red bandana, glittery yellow sash. Wore something really similar to the Pirate and Princess Party the first year they had them. My boyfriend wears a pirate shirt and a captains hat! Should be nice and cool but still in the spirit of Halloween!

Pinkle: Disney Apps, so funny guess what I was doing today.....loading Disney Apps! lol. I loaded the Undercover Tourist one (it has menus!) The WDW Maps one because I couldn't access the maps on Undercover Tourist for some reason...and another one called Ride Counter (that way I can keep track of how many times I ride Rockin Roller Coaster, etc. lol.) In all I now have 8 Disney Apps....can you say obsessed.

We are thinking of upgrading to a data plan...are these the disney apps you'd suggest if we get one before our trip?! Any other suggestions are welcome as well!!

Me too! This our 5th year in a row going and as you can see we still have a long list of things to do, LOL

There is definitely always a reason to go back, but that's part of the reason why we love WDW so much :cloud9: I'm so glad that we always have new things to look forward too! I try to explain that to all the people who say to us "You're going to Disney, again?!" Oh well, more room in Disney for me ;)

This is our 4th time in 5 years. I think its funny how some people will roll their eyes at us going to Disney time after time, when all they do is complain about their vacations, or lack of vacations...or expect us to listen to the things they do over and over like camping,,,as if its any different!

Can anyone get me excited about Hollywood Studios? Other than Star Tours,ToT and RnR, and maybe TSM, I don't know what else we're going to enjoy? Definitely check out the MuppetVision 3D Movie, the Animation Courtyard-take the drawing class, its free!, the Streetmosphere characters are awesome! They are street performers. I could watch them forever! We really liked Lights Motor Action, just saw that last trip. Don't know if I'd do it again so soon, but did like it once! One Man's Dream is really inspiring as well.

Thanks for all of the kind words everyone! :grouphug: I am pretty sore today, but I am just taking it easy. My husband got my tire changed, and he is being great with the girls today.

FEEL BETTER BASKETKAT!

Smile4Me: Have you been to Babycakes before? I hadn't even heard of them before. I'm really excited about it, so we'll definately be going there First!!!

DonnaBoo, I haven't been there before, just have been doing a lot of reading about them since they came to DTD. One of the owners has a column in the allears.net newsletters sometimes. Check out their website if you haven't yet. Yum!

I love that Epcot entrance music! Its almost one of the best parts of my trip - getting off that bus at Epcot (my favorite), hearing that music. Can't wait!

I LOVE THE EPCOT MUSIC TOO!! I'm going on youtube right now to check it out! Puts me in such a good mood!

I loaded Undercover Tourist they had a free app for Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando. The WDW app is pretty neat I think I will utilize it while there: It has park hours with suggested parks in green and non-suggested in red for the day, it also has the parade times, show times, rides, wait times, restaurant menus, maps of the park and a lil gps guy to show where you are in the park...and you can add favorites and set up plans.

I also downloaded the Ride Counter which basically you just click which rides you ride and it keeps track of what you rode and how many times. I think this will be neat as we always try to keep track of how many times we rode something....we are weird like that. :rotfl:

I only loaded free apps, I also loaded Radio Disney, Mouse Trivia and Where in WDW, I thought those would keep my dd busy while we are in lines.

basketkat: Take it easy and get better before our trips! :flower3:
