September 2010 Check-In

I've already posted my dates on here but I just needed to tell someone.... I AM GETTING SOOOOOOOOO EXCITED FOR SEPTEMBER!!!!!!!! I cannot think about anything else! We are starting out in Las Vegas on Monday August 30th staying for 3 nights in a comp room at Palazzo, heading to Disneyland on Thursday, September 2nd staying in a theme-park view at GCH for 4 nights, and leaving on Labor Day, and driving down to San Diego (first time visit to SD!) for 3 nights in an ocean-view room at the Pacific Terrace hotel to finish our trip! I also have a camaro SS booked to surprise DH for his bday! I plan on calling tomorrow AM to book reservations at Naples, Blue Bayou, Cafe Orleans, Carnation Cafe, Goofys Kitchen, and a WOC package at Ariels Grotto. We also have tickets for a dodger game Friday night, and a dodgers/padres game in San Diego! Hurry up August 30!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Making PS already! That's what really makes the countdown go by so fast for me, reaching that point. I really need to start thinking what days I want to start planning out for what meals I may end up doing.

Wow. It really is July, huh?

Put me down for 18th, 19th and 25th, 26th. =)

:thumbsup2 Of course! Love the new av, BTW.

bummed we are going to miss HM and TSMM....

we will be able to get on Space one night before it closes (well my DH...I am a big chicken):goodvibes

and we are secretly hoping HM soft opens a day or two early:rolleyes1

Why thank you! As soon as I have some time, I'm going to make it animated! I bought the short from itunes so I could work on it!

Oh man, I can't wait till Sept! :cloud9: How far in advance are you supposed to make reservations for BB if you want to do waterside seating?

I just called to make my reservation for BB this morning for September 6th. I made the reservation for 11:30 (the earliest lunch seating). On the 6th, we will get there with our full party at about 11:10 to check in and request waterside seating. This is the most surefire way of getting a table by the water. The priority goes to the first group who made reservations rather than the first group to show up and request that day, so make sure you call in for a reservation in the first day you are able. Making the reservation for the first seating of the day (11:30) when the tables are all still open for assignment also helps. Last, make sure your entire party is there! We almost lost our table because we weren't all there.

Oh no!! This is heartbreaking for us! We haven't been to DL since Oct '07, so we've never been on TSMM yet. That was the BIG thing my boys were looking forward to!!

We had expected HM and SM to be closed for the holiday overlay but didn't think we'd miss TSMM.

I'm so sorry your boys will miss an attraction to which they were particularly looking forward to riding! It's a definite downside to going in the September "off season." Especially now that off-season isn't really much less crowded.

So, September is going to be crowded? We are going Sept.15-20th and will already be back in school. I would hate to have to fight crowds. We were planning on going now in July, but did not want to go when it was so busy. So, we changed to Sept. to have less crowds. We will only have 3 or 4 days in the parks. I am worried now with shorter hours not to get everything. I hate to have to change again....................ahhhhh:confused3

I imagine September would be less crowded than July.

However, Disneyland doesn't seem to have the super low seasons like they used to....so it's not like the park will be empty or anything in September.

I do think September will have smaller crowds than this summer. Plus, halloween/fall decoration. And typically better weather.

Isn't that the truth. In a perfect world rides would never have to have any downtime but it does have to happen sometime. There are pros/cons to any time you visit the park, although I think I would take ride closures over the peak season insanity any day of the week. It's still not nearly as crowded.

You should be fine with your dates, although I have heard the first day of HalloweenTime can get a little crazy and now seeing as it will be starting on the 17th this year. September is still much milder compared to peak seasons but has been getting steadily busier lately. Last year, even with the D23 Expo and the crowds it brought in the afternoon/evenings we had no trouble getting to everything we needed and wanted to see, even with the shorter hours. If you're concerned at all, my motto is just to make sure you worry more about being there early than staying late. Mornings are the best time to get as much done as you can.

I'm hoping for low crowds but planning for high crowds. That way I won't be too disappointed if it's crowded. :)

I'm right there with you! Especially since I'll be there for Labor Day with the Disneyland Half Marathon following on the heels of the return of the hordes of AP holders. I'm really curious to whether the blocked Saturday of a Labor Day weekend will be more or less crowded than the unblocked Tuesday following the weekend. Especially since the Los Angeles schools won't be starting back until the next week.

I don't want to give you false hope. But we were at DLR over Labor Day weekend in 2007 and I remember being surprised that it wasn't nearly as crowded as we had expected. So maybe you'll luck out too.

We're getting closer! The Disneyland Resort website calendar has September 1st hours posted now!

By the way, if you haven't checked out the DLR website in the last day or two, be sure to look it over. It has a much more user-friendly feel and I love the new calendar set up.

The website upgrade was way, way overdue! It looks amazing and easy to navigate. Love it! Now if only actual entertainment announcements would be made for September, life would be gravy! I'm trying to pick and plan when I'm doing my meals or at the very least what meals I'll be doing.

Hi there all.

We are heading to Disneyland Sept. 23-28.

I started planning this trip shortly after I broke my ankle on Memorial day weekend. I am planning it for a couple of weeks after what I hope to be my final surgery and an end to a long summer in a cast.

I am traveling with my husband and two boys - 6 and 4. It will be their first trip to Disneyland and we are all very excited!!

I got our plane tickets with Alaska mileage - yay!! So that is set. Where we are staying is another story completely. I have made and cancelled reservations at PPH. I currently have a room reserved at BWPPI and have also purchased a package through Getaway travel with a room at HOJO -- I am now planning on cancelling both those and going with a Costco package I have on hold for DLH as it will only be about $100 more than the hojo pkg. I am normally not wishy washy and have no problem making up my mind with confidence. I think I just have far too much time on my hands with this ankle issue.

My only concern with the DLH is that they are starting construction on the pool in late August. I have talked to a few people in reservations who don't really know what the schedule is but have assured me that some pools will be available at DLH at all times throughout the renovation. Pool time in the afternoons with the kids is very important. Does anyone have any thoughts on this or any more info - or a number I can call for more info??

Actually is this thread a good place to ask such things or should I just start a new thread? Also would this be a good place to ask opinions about making PS arrangements or for feedback on other plans?

I have been reading tons on the DIS forums for several weeks and have a huge list accumulated of great tips and to-do lists. Now that I am getting close to that 60 day mark where I need to start making PS I am ready to chat and not just lurk about!

Thanks for the thread!

Carla
