September 2010 Check-In

Have you been on the Haunted Mansion before? I've never thought it was scary (and I think the Holiday one is even less scary.) It's more silly than scary, I think.

Ditto. If you haven't ever been on it, I suggest finding a YouTube video of it. But I get not being able to handle types of rides. Things like Splash Mountain, Space Mountain and tower of Terror give me panic attacks just thinking about them!

I freak out right before the drop on Splash Mountain. The music gets kind of creepy as you go up that incline. Eek! I HATE the Tower of Terror. I don't like the feeling of falling at all. Space Mountain is fun though. I'm excited to see the Halloween version.

Somehow a friend talked me into Splash Mountain last September. Wont ever do it again. I have high anxiety in the first place and adding that into the mix was ridiculous! The music I don't mind so much. I listen to it at work all the time during my overnight shift. It's one of the few songs guaranteed to play despite my 300+ Disney song playlist with plenty of ride/show music more than 20 minutes long. :rotfl: I'm just not the thrill type person, not by a long shot! If Space Mountain were my thing I would be excited by Ghost Galaxy as well. But no way in h-e-double-hockey-sticks am I going on it. But I like that it's there. It gets a lot of people 'out of the way' :lmao:

Growing up, my family went to WDW and I was always too chicken to try Space Mountain there. Went on it for the first time 2008 and just wasn't impressed.

Went on SM at Disneyland in 2005 (I think that's when. It was after the renovations.) LOVED it. It was fast but not really. About the same as Big Thunder. And it didn't have any big drops. Just a lot of turns. Have you been on it?

I finally got the courage to go on Screamin' in 2006. I was terrified but ended up loving it...the 2nd time.

Yes, we skip these too because they are WAY too much for me.

I always like when I find out I'm not alone in that regard. Most people I know give me that balking stare whenever I mention I wont go on them. Or that I've never been on the Matterhorn, or BTMMR ... :rolleyes1

But keep in mind as far as HM is concerned it is very, very tame. I always found POTC scarier to be honest, and that has an actual drop in it, even if it is teeny tiny. Definitely check it out on YouTube if you haven't already. And the Holiday overlay is actually kind of sillier.

LOL, I sent my daughter on BTMMR when she was 4 (with my husband!) even though there was NO way I was going on it. I'm such a wuss! :rotfl:

I really didn't start liking any type of thrill ride until my mid-20's. Although Big Thunder in WDW was my first roller coaster as a kid. I did like it. For some reason I do okay on Disney roller coasters. But coasters in other parks freak me out!

Maybe I'll start liking them one day. Maybe not. But at least Disneyland can always be enjoyed without the big thrills!I love just sitting outside in NOS with my mint julep, happy as can be.

:woohoo: One more day down :woohoo:

I'm actually really looking forward to this trip, because I will be 6 months pregnant and we will be taking things much slower. On all our previous trips it's been go go go, and rushing around for rides and such. This time it will all be about relaxing and taking in the Disney magic.

A slow, relaxing trip is definitely more my speed. I don't care for "go go go" type trips. We just kind of go with the flow. Walk around. Take pictures. Hang out. I mean, we go on a lot of rides but we don't rush from ride to ride to ride.

Good for you! I think that was one of the best things about our trip in '08--we went at the children's speed and it was SO nice. Of course it helped that we went in September (yes, same as this year!) and so the park wasn't crazy busy.

Add me in for Sept 25 - 28th at the Paradise Pier. Going with a group of friends. Though we'll only be in the parks the 26th & 27th.

The HoJo hasen't updated the ET rate dates for a couple weeks, I have a feeling today they may get updated so I have been obsessed checking every 10 minutes to see if there are any new Septmeber dates. I wonder why not many September dates have been released, you think they are expecting lots of people this year?

I just called to modify my dates a bit and was told that the rate was available for the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th. So excited! :yay:

I know that for my dates the 15-19th there is no availability at HoJo. At first it was just that Saturday, and I thought about splitting my stay between DLH and HoJo but now it's not available for the other dates either.

I don't know if you are already locked in somewhere else, but you might want to call them - I wasn't coming up with any availability either, but just booked a 2 queen room for the 16th-23rd (she did say that was the last one) and 1 king for the 16th-19th. I am still deciding between our dates, so have 2 different sets booked right now.

Awesome! So it looks like they are just a bit behind in updating the list on their message board? Did they mention if there were other dates in September open now or was that it? I'm thinking I may just call and see if any more of my dates have popped up.

I didn't ask - I felt a bit rushed in talking with them (I think they were busy). Please post if you find other dates have become available! :goodvibes
