It depends. I have no clue what a room at AKL cost, bu if 40 % takes off more than the dining for 4 does, then it's a better deal, but I would bet that free dining would be better. The amount of days on your tickets and what type really doesn't play into it at all. They will be full price no matter what. And depending on your kids ages, will tell what the price of the plan per day will be. But you are looking at 80 dollars per day for dining plan at least. (I can't remember the exact prices for adults and kids anymore) If your kid is over a certain age the yare charged the adult price in dining.

We havent decided on what week in september yet. My sister is still against going labor day week only because she doesnt want the kids missing 1st day of school. I think its going to be cheaper the first few weeks rather than the last week/beginning of October.

Im undecided on if i should book now or wait till april. in 2006 we booked at the begin of april (when they announced free dining)

i dont know :confused3 what shall I do????

I don't know what AKL's prices are, but I remember they were less then Poly's when we were comparing resorts. If it helps, I've got a garden view club level room for 8 days starting Labor Day weekend. When I compared the 40% off vrs. free dining, the 40% won. Dining for 2 kids and 2 adults was somewhere around $700, if I'm remembering correctly. The 40% code saved me almost $1300 off the room! I'm thinking a value or mod might work out in favor of free dining, depending on how many in your group, while a deluxe would work better with the code.

I wouldn't go Labor day weekend either. It wil lbe very crowded then. The value season is all of Sept, so the price won't go up till Oct 2nd I beleive.

Thanks for all your replies to my post - I did figure it our for our stay
With 40% off we are saving almost 131.00 a day
If we went with free dining then we would only save 98 - 99.00. (2 adults, 7 yr old and 5 yr old)

So, I think that I am not going to worry about free dining when/if it comes out. Maybe I will look at the Poly or GF instead of AKL(which we love), but DH will be home on R&R from Afghanistan, and I might surprise him with the GF (which he had not stayed at).

Am I correct in assuming that they do not give 40% for the room and free dining for the same package, right? Just one or the other!

Jennifer

I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS on your upcoming nuptuals.
Make sure when you arrive at the parks you make a stop at guest relations where you can pick up buttons indicating that this is your first trip to Disney.....you will get the red carpet treatment by the CMs. If you get the bride and groom ears everyone will make a fuss....if ofcourse your into that.

Have a nice vacation!!!

Just checking again (as I do everyday) for free dining. I haven't told my husband yet - but I think that if they do the bounceback program (like they did last year with free dining) we're booking our next trip there and then!!!

Can't wait - I put in for my vacation time today and let all of my managers know that the trip is already paid for so it'll be approved. :cool1: :cool1:

September can't come soon enough!

we pretty much decided on the week of sept. 20th - 27th...
now I have to figure out how to book hoop dee doo review and use 2 TS credits... without having to pay for it in full O.o when making the adr.

OHHH and we sooo need free dining!!!!

*free dining feee dining*
:goodvibes

too bad we'll probably have to wait until april, IF they do come out with a free dining code.

Hi everyone!:wave2:

My Dsis (smiller) called CRO tonight to check for codes (no luck but always worth a try!:rolleyes1 ) and the CM she spoke with suggested to call back early-mid march. He also said to read her newspaper everyday!:goodvibes

So, that's good news! Something to keep us hoping!pixiedust:

yay!:woohoo:

Why would you check the paper? What paper? Has Disney ever posted codes in the paper?

Ok.. so if I book september 20th-27th tomorrow and in april they come out with free dining, all i have to do is call back and they will change it no problem? will they transfer my deposit and everything?

thanks!!!

I have to say yes and no.
I have read, but don't know first hand...that if what you want is available they will switch the reservation, but have heard some people have had to change dates, or hotels. Also I have heard that some have said that they have had to put another deposit down and got a refund later on for the first one.
Also, last year the Free dining went until Sept 22 I beleive. If you booked by that date you could have your whole trip with free dining. I have heard this year it may not be that way. You might only be able to have free dining only on the dates they do it. but.. I also heard a rumor they may run it inot Oct as well, so you never know.

Oh yes... we get the Chicago Tribune and every year that there has been a code (like the free dining) it is always in the Sunday Travel section as soon as it comes out. They also always advertise the other deals, like the free park hopper & more add on.

But, I know that the Disney Visa holders were eligible to book a week before (we're card holders) and I think I heard about the date for that here on the front page of the DIS. :thumbsup2

Maybe we'll recieve a mailing from Disney Visa. I am always so excited I can never remember all the important details!;)

FYI ----- Just my experience last year on getting the free ddp added to your reservation. :cool1:

We booked in Novemeber 06 for September 07 trip....called back in April 07 and got free dining for September 07 trip.......we could not keep the Pop Century reservation but was offered the All Star Sports......we have a great time even though the main pool was under rehab. The baseball pool was just perfect for us and was not crowded at all.

I hope this helps anyone who may have questions:banana:

We havent booked yet. If we book it in the near future its mostly cause we found good airfare, otherwise i have no problem waiting until april to book. I want to avoid any bumps in the road with the deposits and such. IF there is free dining I hope its not hurting us by going the 3rd week of september. Im trying not to stress  It would just be nice to save a few hundered dollars per person since we were planning on the dining plan anyway.

*sigh* oh well.

thanks again! Im always open for more advice.. =)

Have been reading about all these codes and free dining options. Where exactly do they come from and how do you get them? I'm planning a Sept. '08 trip and would love to stay in a moderate resort instead of value. Do you have to call and make a reservation before you can get a code?? Please help.:)
