September 18-25 Round-Up-(Post that you made it home ok)

We will most likely be at the Spectro meet too, if not, we will be there for Wishes for sure. Should we be worried about Hurricane Ivan?!?!?!?!?!?!? What is it this year? One after the other. We Marylanders don't have very good luck with Hurricanes that start with an 'I.'

;)

Ok so we know Sept 21st is the day...
Lets see what else we can do to let everyone get a chnane to say HI

AFTERNOON BREAK...1:30 pm Cosmic Rays
Stop and say HI, grab a drink, have lunch
Meet on the lower part of the seating area, less traffic and more seats.

SPECTROMAGIC PARADE...meet in Frontierland/Liberty Square (starting at 7pm-parade time) in front of the Country Bear Jamboree? Is there enough space there? I think so l, we can spread out and save as much as possible for the people who make it there right before the parade.

WISHES..This might be a bit tougher with everyone wanting to be on Main St . We can attempt to go from the parade spot thru Frontierland and into the hub. That side of the hub should not be too full because the parade does not actually go around that section.

GOODNIGHT KISS...We can stand there and say how nice it was to meet everyone as the castle gives us a beautiful reminder of where magic lives.

Edited to add: after Spectro I/we/anyone who is there can go from in front of Country Bear thru the walkway towards Aladdin's Carpet ride past the Aloha Isle over the bridge to the hub. (Basically thru Adventureland)That part of the hub should not be to crowded (the parade does not go around that section)

If you are joining us for WISHES we will be on the left side of the center hub. If your coming down Main St. it will be to the left side hopefully on the circle off the walkway from Adventureland. Look for the green flag and a bunch of chatty people. I'm going to search for some green glowsticks , that should help people to spot us. Any other ideas? Or a Mickey balloon with DISboards written on the blank side. in glow in the dark paint. (which I happen to have..and I just added it to my packing list)

We are getting closer..

I have made a lime green flag with DISBoards written on it. It is 9 X 12 and will be on a wooden stick (dowel) so you should be able to see it above peoples heads. If you don't see us...stand in the middle of the roadway and look at Country Bear Jamboree.

I know the excitment is building....I leave home on Friday the 17th so I will be computerless after that time. I will not be able to send a reminder so mark it on your list of things to do for that day. I really hope to see many of you at some point.

Talk to you soon,
Lori

Lori:

Looks like you are leaving an hour or two before us that day. We just may see you driving down 95. You will probably be driving right by where we live right around the time that we are leaving. See ya on the way ;)

I would wave HI but I will be abot 30,000 feet in the air. We are flying. I'm not sure I could drive that far with my DD who is 11. It take about 4 hours to get from here to there flying and about 24+ hours driving. (I would have to stop and sleep)

I hope to see many of you on Tuesday the 21st.

Have fun...the real countdown begins in the morning...single digits here we come.

Lori

We're going to WDW Sept 25 - Oct 2. Me, my husband, 4.5 yr old son, and my sister. This is the first time my son will be there, and I haven't been there in years! I've been busy planning like crazy.

We're staying at the Polynesian, and have tickets for the Oct 1 MNSSHP. I can't wait. Just hoping all those hurricanes have run their course!

Does anyone know what the crowds are like the last week in September? Do you mostly walk-on rides? I've made PS for dining, but had no trouble getting the times we wanted.

We're flying from Iowa...through Chicago with a long lay-over. By the time we get to the Poly and checked in it will be after 8pm. I'm hoping we can pick up food from the counter service place and head out to the beach to watch the electric pageant and Wishes.

Francie

francie_iowa,
You are going at a perfect time! The rides WILL be walk on all throughout the week, and then get busier on weekend. Oct 1st is a Friday, so I am sure that it will be slightly busy so either be prepared, or don't arrive at MNSSHP until 4 pm. Stay rested during the day, shop, ect.

Good luck on your flight, and have fun :sunny:

Just following up - we were planning to go 9/18 - 9/28 but may have to reschedule for the second time (in March, we had to cancel due to DH's kidney stone issues) - is anyone else going during this time frame cancelling, rescheduling or still planning on going????

pumpkinfish....you made my day! Wasn't sure what to expect for crowds Sept 25-Oct 2!

So does that mean I don't have to follow those "touring" strategies in my guidebooks? Can we sleep in a little instead of being there for the early hour each morning to cram in enough stuff early in the day before everyone else arrives? Maybe we don't have to be at Fantasmic 1.5 hrs early to get a seat?!

francie_iowa,

I feel like you can throw the strategies out the window! Of course, this "slower" season has become more popular as the years pass, but DH and I have gone to WDW together 2 times, and both were during September (mid). We have had no problems waiting in lines, except on Saturday's at MK. Of course, i remember also waiting for Test Track in a 30 min line, and I remember that Jungle Cruise had a longer line last year too. Splash Mountain had a longer line as well.
My point is this, long to me is not "typical" long. We are used to walking onto rides, or waiting no more than 10 mins. Spoiled?yes...eating it up? Most definitely!
The parks do get more busy as the day progresses, so keep that in mind. DH and I usually get up early and are at the designated park before it opens, or at opening. This time though, I have already stated that we will sleep in a few more mornings.

As for Fantasmic, I am sorry to say that you still need to get there early. That is one show that can't be missed, and everyone knows it. Last time, I had fun sitting on the bench playing with my Tinkerbell light up toy! We also try to do it as one of the last nights. Always brings tears to my eyes...

Could someone leave the title of the "other thread" where the meet is talked about?
Thank you. :)

We arrive on the 22nd!!! Will have my lime green ribbon on my hire car ariel and my lime green mickey head on my backpack!!:teeth:

Went into the National website to cancel the two ressies I had made as I watched the price go down for 9/18-9/25. Anyway, thought I'd try one last time, and the price dropped another $20!!
Total cost for Inter. car $109 for a week.

If you're renting a car this weekend, check it out!

I used Priceless code (Mousesavers) and Ent. coupon.

See you all Tuesday!

I am not canceling but I am going a day earlier to aviod any problems in Atlanta. The weather channel shows that there could be high winds and power outages towards ATL on Firday so I will just beat the storm and go early.

See everyone in a few days.

We are leaving a day early too, but we are going to stay overnight in Fayetteville tomorrow and then drive the rest on Friday morning. See you all on Tuesday- here is how I feel inside right now :)

Stay safe in your travels everyone!!! See you soon!

Sept 19-29 for us. Staying one night at Pop and the rest at ASMo, its our first time staying onsite and I cant wait!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cloud9: :cloud9:

Thank you for the link to the other thread! I enjoyed reading it. We are hoping to make the Spectro meet too! Everyone have a safe trip and see you there!

We just made it back around 4:00am this morning. We left earlier than planned and drove straight through to get out of the way of the storm- I was so depressed :( Can everyone check in please so that we can make sure we are all home safe and sound? I'll make a list on the original post. Thanks ! :)

I'm not sure we really count--flew back to TF Greene on Monday (9/20). DH seems to wish we were riding the hurricane out at WL. I'm not so sure it would be fun. We did have an excellent long weekend to celebrate his birthday, and hope to post a trip report soon (it's been really busy at the college.). We did have an excellent time at the Gospel Brunch at HOB.
