Good Morning all,

Still snowing here. Day off today, yeah....
Day off here too. No snow. Rain. :confused3

Hope everyone had a great weekend(even if you had to work today). :cool1:

Hello everyone!

DH (Steve) and I will be joining you on the 11 day cruise. We could not book until his vacation was confirmed the second week of Dec. We booked early last time and he wasn't able to cruise so he had DS and I take my cousin. Isn't he a sweetie?

We're so excited and I've tried to read a lot of the posts to bring myself up to date but there are just so many of them. Would someone be kind enough to update me?

I've tried to scan through some of the names and don't recognize anyone from our 2 previous cruises but being as we're all Dis family, I look forward to meeting everyone.

We're in a cat 11 and are sailing on our points. We'll be leaving the boys, ages 18 and 21, behind and will be celebrating our 23rd anniversary on September 18th.

I did manage to pick out the email address that I'm suppose to send our info to in order to be included on the lists. I'm going to do that now.

I'm really looking forward to meeting you all!

Counting the days until we cruise,

Denise

Antigua - Eli's Eco Tour

I posted last fall that I had booked this already but when they figured out that I was talking about this year I was told to try after September. Last week I decided it was after September and tried to get the ball rolling again. Eli's is not normally open on weekends (and we are there Saturday) but today I got commitment that they will do the tour. I have copied in the email I got from Jill as an FYI. We had a great time on this tour September 04 and I think we will book again.

The Eco Tour (the website http://www.adventureantigua.com/tour.html) is US$100 per person and we give a 10% discount for booking directly with us. We only take cash or travelers checks on the boat and all you have to bring is shoes/sandals you don’t mind getting wet (flip flops don’t work), towels, sunscreen, and hats if you need them. A pair of polarized sunglasses is optional, but work great on this tour. We collect at The Spot Café on the Redcliffe Quay Board Walk, in St. John's, which is a 3 minute walk from your ship dock, 9:50am because the boat leaves at 10:00am, and have you back at around 4:15pm. We encourage all our guests to please be ON TIME because we may have other people to pick up along the way. ALCOHOL is served ONLY at the end of the tour on our way home. All drinks, lunch and snorkeling gear are included.

If you are interested in reserving for the 23rd September, 2006, please make your deposit for this tour as soon as possible in order to hold your spots.

Only deposits are taken online. This process is done for banking and accounting reasons. The balance is then paid either in cash or travelers checks to the boat when you go on the tour. It’s a $20 USD deposit per person and these deposits can be made through the secure server at https://antiguaadventures.securesites.com/booking.html. We then process your transaction and confirm your reservation. We only take Visa and MasterCard for the deposit, and in order to get the 10% discount, you must pay the balance in either cash or travelers checks on the boat.

On the form (comments section) please STATE THE DATE OF THE TOUR and how many people in the party. An email will then be sent with your confirmation, amount billed and your balance.

NOTICE: Please email us a day before you leave for your trip to say that you are still on for The Eco Tour.

Cancellation policy:

For guests who are on a cruise ship or in a hotel this is our cancellation policy. We will refund all deposits if your cruise ship/airline changes its schedule and does not stop in Antigua or if by any circumstances beyond our control we on our part will have to cancel the tour. If by any chance you do not show up we will keep all deposits. If you would like to cancel we will need notification 24hrs in advance. If you cancel the same day as the tour, your deposit is non-refundable.

When writing back to us, please use the reply button in your email program to include the text of previous correspondence. This will help us answer your questions more completely.

All best wishes for the New Year!

Gail, we did this tour in October 2004 and had a blast!! I noticed yesterday that there is another tour that Eli offers. Do you know if they will be offering that on Saturday when we are there as well? It was a speed boat that will take you all the way around Antigua instead of just the North South. Lunch, snorkeling and swimming with stingrays is offered with this one. The cost was $170US, again with a 10% discount if booked online.

Tracy - I asked and will let you know what response I get. Don't know if I could get DH to do that one or not. Since we did the Eco tour in 09/04 maybe something a little different would be nice....

Thanks for the warm welcome Hygienne 99 and Scott H! We're so excited to be a part of all of this. This will be my 4th (3rd Disney) cruise and Dh's 2nd.

Thanks! I'm really excited about this cruise. I usually leave the ship feeling as if there wasn't enough time to see or do everything I wanted to. 11 days should be great!

My goal is to actually go in one of the pools...never seemed to find the time on our 14 day DCL Panama Canal Cruise in May '05!!!!!!

My cousin and I went into the Adults' Only pool this June on the 4 day. It was so nice. I loved the ledge that's on the inside of the pool. It was neat to sit there as the ship rocked and watch the water come up and go down. Just like a wave on the beach.

Got to admit the longer the cruise the more relaxing for us. We did the 4 day DVC Members cruise after doing the May 14 day Canal cruise. Seemed like we just got on and had to get off. 11 days will be nice for sure.

I found the pool to be kinda cool, but I am a ninny when it comes to cold water.

Lynn was telling me that I should mention we also have points at BWV. Also sailing on points.

On our first cruise we never made it to the pool. Our second one, we made it to the whirlpool a couple times. Third we were there just about every day. The last one (14 days), we were there every day, even during the hurricane (ok, not in the pool, but by it!). I love sitting on the edge in basically a puddle of water and getting a few waves over you every so often. Funny thing is, for the first two cruises we went to a lot of the seminars and speaches, during the last two, hardly had time for that!

Ok everyone. This Friday I will be working on the newsletter so it can be distributed on Saturday. I have one article (thank you Elaine!!) so far. I have a few items for the Getting to Know You column, but need some more!!!

What is something you have done that is unique? Do you have a special hobby? Do you hold a record for something (official or just your own)? Send me some info either by PM or e-mail (there are links to both by my user name ;) ). Also the next issue will have the answers for last month's clues.

I will be focusing this issue on Antigua so if you have been doing some research and want to share it, let me know. If you even just have some notes, I can put together something for you. Thanks!!

More info on Antigua - I did find out that the Eli's speedboat tour will also be available if we can fill the boat - 7-8 couples.

I can share some information from the book I gave my DH for Christmas about Antigua. Is our port there St. John's - the capital city?

According to most of the Antigua websites and Eli (when we did the tour), it is pronounced "An-tee-ga". I guess DCL doesn't know everything ;)
