Peter, get out the tomato juice, wash the pups with it, spray ozium for the house. We have been there done that.

What no Documents for Jenn??? Have a great trip. I know you will have a blast.

Good luck for those of you heading to WDW for the running events. I am thinking about doing the DL ½ marathon. It is over Labor Day, and I just am not big on traveling on holidays. We will see as registration starts 1/8.

1972 – I was in Indiana finishing college, summer was my second cross country bicycle trip. That trip did take me through Jackson. There was one sighted in Casper a couple pf weeks ago.

Wind is blowing and drifting the snow we got, will stay in today and work on the house.

Love that song. 'specially the Buffett cover.

Captain, what a lovely way to spend the holiday.....if you can't have snow.(I love the snow)
You lucky dog.

Scott, Bob & Lee...

Since I've been with my spouse (22 years now) we've spent most of our Christmas holidays visiting out here with family. HOWEVER, we rarely do anything touristy (which I often hope to do). COnsequently, after 22 years of annual visits to Hawaii it was only last year that I finally got to the Arizona memorial - we've only been to Hanna ONCE - and I've only been to two luaus EVER here! So lucky...?.... maybe, but we are not as active vacationing and exploreing as you may assume!

However, last nite was typical as I cooked a 12 pound prime rib roast ... bone in... and had about 35% left over - and I even forgot to cook the stuiffed Salmon I bought from Costco that night. Plus - here on Maui the local Safeway gave me resistance to my using a rain check from their sister chain Vons on the Prime Rib.... but the manager was nice about it. He made me wait about 15 minutes before he showed up (must have hoped I'd have given up and left) - and said he was sorry about the huge delay - then added they could not match the mainland ad prices as their distribution costs were much higher on Maui - even compared to Oahu they do not typically honor "rain check" prices... the price per pound was $10.89 and my rain check was for $4.97 a pound. SO the potential savings was $5.92 or just shy of $71! So - he quickly responded to my polite patience with an offer to match with his best local ad price - which I took. Remarkably it was only $5.97 a pound so I still saved about $60!

Well... so much for the latest bit of excitement out here in the far west. We're on the rainy side of the island somewhat central. The dry side is over by Lahina. It rained pretty much all day.

2 days ago we hit the beach - and the weather was perfect. Here are a few pix from Chistmas day and the beach day on the 26th:

The top row was taken on Christmas Day - at the right is me with our newest member of the clan, a 3 month old baby boy on Maui - and the lower rows were from the 26th at a beach near the extreme end of a road on Maui. Needless o say but it is a "locals" beach.

And - needless to say but we rarely get into the snow this time of year anymore - especially since her parents moved away from Pittsburgh. So - I actually would love to spend a Christmas in the cool snow but - that is an extremely rare consideration at my home.

Hope everyone elses' vacation week is going as pleasantly as ours has been.:thumbsup2

Leslie and Elaine, Where are ya and how are you all doing?????

Thought about Elaine on Boxing Day.

Leslie and Elaine, Where are ya and how are you all doing?????

Thought about Elaine on Boxing Day.

Hi Scott

This is Elaine posting under Leslie's ID...

We are alive and well.....and packing for our cruise which leaves tomorrow!!!!!!!

For Christmas, Leslie and I surprised Joe and Mom with a 4 day cruise over New Years....we leave tomorrow so we are busy packing.....boy was it hard to keep it a secret until Christmas.

When Leslie told me that it would be crazy at WDW at Christmas time, I just couldn't imagine HOW CRAZY it would be. The Magic Kingdom and the Animal Kingdom have both been closed several times during this past week as they have reached maximum capacity. Mom and I tried to go to MGM one day and the lines to get in were horendus (sp?) so we got back on the tram and went to Downtown Disney instead!!!!!

It has been a great 7 weeks here at the World with Leslie & Joe (thanks Leslie and Joe for letting us stay with you at the Mouse House....do I have to return my key????)...it has been nice to see WDW at a leisurely pace (well that was until last week)....we would go for a couple of hours in the morning...come back to the MH in the afternoon and then go to a different park at night....I thought we would be able to say we saw and rode everything during our 7 weeks but I can't....I will tell you not to miss Turtle Talk with Crush...it is the best!!!!!!

Thanks Bob and Scott for thinking of me on Boxing Day....we did do a bit of Boxing Day shopping howver the stores here aren't nearly as crazy as at home since most of the Christmas stuff was already reduced to 50% off BEFORE Christmas.

Mom and I will be leaving for home :drive: right after the cruise    as I have to be back at work on the 8th.....

Leslie, Joe, Mom and I wish everyone a very Happy New Year and all the best in 2007!!!!!!!!

Elaine

What time does the Steerage Bar open? :rotfl2:

Have a Wonderful Cruise!!!!

Not long for us!
14 days!!!!!

Hi everyone. I just got an email from ckturby - Kay's neice who was on the cruise with us. Kay is back in the hospital due to pain. They are doing lots of tests on her and they don't know how long she will be in there. Harry went home yesterday.

Christie asked that we all keep Kay and Harry in our prayers.

Kay and Harry, here's some :grouphug: :grouphug: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: for you both.

Hello everyone, we hope you all had a wonderful Holiday season so far.

Interested to know if anyone has cruised with Princess before?

We decided to take the plunge for a cruise out of Galveston for the girls' Spring Break in March. Kind of short notice, but can't pass up a chance at Belize and Honduras for really not all the much $$$$. It is incredible the cost difference between this cruise and the one we have booked on the Magic in October.

But . . . . . . . ? Will the girls have fun? They have already been on three Disney cruises and we are worried that Princess won't be enjoyable for them. I guess we will just have to see. We are excited to visit these ports though. Nervous apprehension!

Will be calling DVC here on Tuesday to see how availability will be at DL for teh 1/2 marathon. Could be fun, also haev to plan WDW for late Oct/Nov. Anyone know when Jersey week is in 2007????

Having probs with email so, sorry in advance to all.

Scott - you think you're up late...

Where I am it's 4am local time - but 6am California time. And in EST it is 9AM already.

So... its' been nice here on Maui in an understated kind if way, and if it's not too early I'd like to offer our wishes for all to have a HAPPY NEW YEAR evening tonight. We'll probably be on a flight over the Pacific (red eye) on our way home soon after it strikes midnite in New York unless we get a juicy volunteering opportunity. Our 9PM flight is oversold as is the one after ours - so maybe they'll need volunteers on our plane! Woo-Hoo!

Below is the unwrapped standing rib roast (prime rib) I made the other day before and after preparation. Nice, eh? :confused3 NOTICE the absence of lost juices from carving on the wooden cutting board?... and in the cooking tray (not shown) there was NO RED juice - just clear fatty juice. So it was prepared and served properly with all the flavorful juices locked inside even after carving!

Above is todays' beach... a nice stretch of sand in the middle of a tourist area -only it is late in the afternoon so many folks have already gone. And below is our older daughter with a SHAKKA on a Plantation tractor with the tour guide, and in the other picture below is a shot off the front street in Lahaina (misspelled?) town. We stopped to do some light souveneer shopping here as our singular concession to being tourists on this trip (so far).

Sunset on the 30th, yesterday

Thanks for sharing the pics crash, looks like you are having fun.

And thanks for the thoughts - and yyes it was nice here - but what is not so obvious is we were gathered here to be with family members who are very sick. We are about to start a regiment of chemo followed by possible surgery. So we are sort of somber about gathering this holiday season. We were all here in Hawaii only 6 months ago for the surprise birthday gathering - if you recall that. So - yeah - it sounds nice to go to Hawaii for the holidays - and I might make it sound non-touristy and sort of boring - but this trip is sort of serious if ya know what I mean. We do have a better then 50% chance for a full remission - but the threat is otherwise real with nearly a 50% chance for losing the battle to come.

Once again - Happy New year to everyone! Drive safely if you're going anywhere tonight!

Great shots CC

Happy holidays to you also!!

Thanks for sharing!

Just waking up!!!

Good Morning !!!

Here's a shot of Keioki (misspelled? - and I don't know what his name means... nor do I know whether it is Hawaiian or Japanese)... but he is a sweet dog with the kids and a very well trained critter. He jumps through hoops (hula hoops), stays when commanded with military precision and will balance a dog biscuit on his nose until given permission to snap it up - in mid air usually! All of the kids adore him! He's a Maui dog - and guardian of my BILs' place.

Happy New Year to you too Capt.

Great looking Prime Rib. Have done that before. Easy to mess up. Congrats.

Lahaina. Wonderful place. Loved the Cheeseburger in Paradise. It is not the Buffett one, but it is the original. Maui is one of our favorite places we have visited. Would love to go back.
