Good Evening everyone! Made it to Ohio (Elyria to be exact) without incident. It took me 6 hours but only one stretch of road construction and that didn't last too long. My dad is still in rehab but doing well from his knee replacement (second one on same knee) and Mom is happy to have a driver to take her shopping :rotfl:! I am just happy to have somewhere to go besides Wally World to go shopping!

Glad U made it safely! :thumbsup2

I just took my younger daughter to the dentist this morning and we chatted about the beverages that were tolerable and ... BAD for young teeth. Specific choices that were intensely bad were Pepsi with the highest acidity ... and on the chart ... it's being compared to battery acid. So - I mused, maybe someone could market battery acid as a beverage. Think... "Cherry Acid Fizz"?

Product Acid table
The first number is the factor per 12 oz with Low=BAD acidity, the 2nd number is the relative level of Sugar present. Hence the indications for water are Zero and Zero. And at the bottom is Pepsi above battery acid!

Pure Water .....7.00 (neutral)..... 0.0
Barq's ............4.61 .................10.7 tsp.
Diet 7-Up .......3.67 ...................0.0
Sprite ............3.42 ...................9.0
Diet Dr. Pepper 3.41 ..................0.0
Diet Coke .......3.39 ...................0.0
Mountain Dew 3.22 ..................11.0 tsp.
Surge ............3.02 ..................10.0
Gatorade ........2.95 .................3.3 tsp
Gatorade ........2.95 ..................3.3
Dr. Pepper ......2.92 ..................9.5
Hawaiian Fruit Punch 2.82 .......10.2
Orange Minute Maid 2.80 .........11.2
Coke Classic ...2.63 ...................9.3 tsp.
Pepsi ...........2.49 ...................9.8 tsp.
BATTERY ACID 1.00 ..................0.0

Wow - thank you for this. The Gatorade shocks me, our kids love it and we thought it was okay. Guess its not as bad as Pepsi though!

The Gateraid has 1/3rd the sugar but is just as acidic as Pepsi compared to neutral at 5.5 pH. I would try to shift the kids away from the stuff. We recently got tagged for near $2,000 in dental bills for our older one. SO - given a chice we are shifting our kids into healthier chices that also promise to reduce the potential for certain types of dental bills.
