Well....

.... thanks for pointing me in the right direction. At first I thought "fish extenders" involved something like this:

bam.gif

I was referred to te 1st page - plus newsletters - and if I may confess a bit - it IS a lot to catch up on. That is, if I were not pausing to check my fit to a grass skirt then I might have read through more of the stuff here... but I took the detour onto the "wild side" and explored the winding path of the "grass skirt fraternity" ... and am still a bit cautionus as to whats to come of it.

ust the same, thanks again :thumbsup2 !

I'm game! Well, here we are:

DH (Brian) : Madman Buck
DS (Tyler) : Buccaneer Bluesword (I already nicknamed him - Little Buc)
Me (Linda) : Cutthroat Lindsey

I just wanted to see what everyone has done/will do for this. In the Gratuities section it says that Babysitting gratuities are Optional (something like that anyway) but how about Oceaneer Club? On Carnival I know that the "Camp Carnival" was brought up in docs and throughout the cruise to not forget to tip them, etc. I thought it strange not to mention them in the Gratuities section.

Maybe they had to give them all raises to deal with all the kids :rotfl2: Remember I am a mother of a 4 year old, so I am allowed to say those things. Don't hesitate to PM me.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm just trying to count up my spending and the available dollars on the Disney Reward Card, etc...of course, no worries, there is always the Disney Visa Card to start racking up those points again.

And, yes if anyone is wondering "What the heck is this lady doing up at this hour...well, I am a night owl - better to say that than insomniac right?? :cloud9:

Beautiful day here in the heartland. 58° and sunny.

Hope all are having a great weekend. Today we are taking the grandson and gradndaughter to Indiana Beach :scared1: It's a small amusement park about 40 mi north of here. Lee's company picnic.

Looks like the thread is picking up steam. It did that the last couple months on the 14 day thread. I imagine we will hit 1000 post by sail away. :thumbsup2 Haven't read back the last couple days, will do that tonight....so watch out!

Everyone have a WONDERful day.

We're heading home this morning. The reunion was ....interesting...I'll leave it at that :lmao: :rotfl2:

Good Morning All, hope all are having a great weekend.

Africa Hot here yesterday.

Last day of the Tour and it starts in a couple of min. Congrat to Floyd Landis, what a great ride.

RE decorating fiish extenders, worry not this is a first for this cruise. Last time we just had them. Thanks Debbie. So don't feel behind the power curve, it is new ground for all. Have fun with it make it personal to you, bring zip ties to secure it to the fish, you are extending, to keep it from swimming away.

I gotta travel to Cody, WY, for the next seven days we are supposed to have internet access, will see. At least there is a Walmart and a Sierra Trading Post there. Working 6PM to 6 AM. The first couple will be tough.

Scott - We here in the Napa Valley literally have been transported to H - E - double hockey sticks! I can't remember the last time we had several consecutive days of weather like this -- yesterday at 6:00 p.m. it was 109! But, it's like I told my DH this morning when we went out at 5:00 to look at the sky - H-E-double hockey sticks, I don't believe, has a sky like we experienced this mornng. Absolutely beautiful. We are in for another hot one today. Supposed to be warmer than yesterday - that's hard to believe. We'll see.

DH's last CAT scan this morning at 7:00, so we didn't get much sleep last night knowing that we would have to get up early this morning.

I am so excited about Floyd L wining the TDF. Did you see the story on him last week on GMA? Very interesting condition he has. He should be commended for his efforts to overcome his disease.

So long from H E double hockey sticks. We are praying for cooler weather here in the Napa Valley -- at least down to the double digits! If it doesn't cool down, we might have raisin wine -- that would be interesting. I'll have to talk to my son-in-law about htat one. I wonder how that would work???

48 more days until we leave for WDW!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Good Morning folks!

..... Out here in Southern California we call todays sort of weather .... "SHAKE AND BAKE" weather. Hot like this is when we seem to get our earth quakes. So if anything happens (and we hope not!) then you heard it first here.

Yesterday had to be the HOTTEST DAY and NITE my spouse and I can recall EVER having had in the decade plus we've been in Westlake Village. Even at midnite it was stuffy uncomfortable and warm to hot!? Amazing. I ran the air con til 8PM thinking.. "what am I doing"... gotta turn it off?! Only to think at 9PM - hey...maybe I should have left it ON! The roof attic space fans were still running at 11PM too! They're temp controloled and set to 105 or 110 I think.

Anyways... the national weather forecast declared an "urgent weather message" and the "heat index" is 110-120 in the mountains and lower elevations and 105-115 across the inland coastal plains. We are in a higher elevation valley - so that means 110-115 to me.

URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE
DANGEROUS HEAT AND HUMIDITY
ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA AGAIN TODAY...

.A VERY STRONG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE...VERY WEAK ONSHORE FLOW...

AND SOME MONSOONAL MOISTURE WILL COMBINE TO BRING EXCESSIVE HEAT TO MUCH OF SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA AGAIN TODAY. WHILE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES MAY BE SLIGHTLY LOWER TODAY THAN ON SATURDAY...IT STILL WILL BE DANGEROUSLY HOT ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA. HIGH TEMPERATURES TODAY WILL RISE TO BETWEEN 105 AND 115 DEGREES IN THE VALLEYS AND IN LOWER MOUNTAIN AREAS. ACROSS INLAND PORTIONS OF THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY COAST...HIGHS WILL RISE TO BETWEEN 95 AND 100 DEGREES... EXCEPT 100 TO 108 IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN FROM BEVERLY HILLS TO THE HOLLYWOOD HILLS.

WITH RATHER HIGH RELATIVE HUMIDITIES ACROSS THE AREA...HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL RISE TO BETWEEN 110 AND 120 IN THE VALLEYS AND LOWER ELEVATIONS IN THE MOUNTAINS ...AND TO BETWEEN 105 AND 115 ACROSS INLAND SECTIONS OF THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY COASTAL PLAIN. THE MAXIMUM HEAT INDEX VALUES ARE EXPECTED TO OCCUR FROM LATE MORNING THROUGH THIS EVENING.

rad_____-uscalax-en-20060723124800.jpg

So... it really is gonna just be a high of about 108. The record high out here however was 115 in 1985. So I guess we did not remember those days... except in that year I had been dating my spouse about a year then and probably would NOT have noticed or thought about anything (except her).

ANd with 8 weeks to go before sailing - THATS SIMPLY WONDERFUL! Get it? Won-der-ful... ? Ok... never mind. And 2 weeks from now I'll be at my FILs' surprise 80th birthday celebration in Honolulu. I just bought a hotel stay through eBay - a first using eBay for us - andI'm still wondering whether it's all legit or not. As we paid yesterday and are awaiting the name change on the reservation. It cost $300 for a stay that would cost $1800-2400+ (depending on how you looked at it) if booked today. Anyway - if it is not legit then we can file a claim with ebay and maybe get back a net $175. I'm not sure whether they would deny a claim on the grounds it is an "intangible" item. I think it IS tangible. At any rate - the $300 is about half what we have reserved for fewer days at "retail" for a far lessor property. IE - we're paying half out of pocket for a longer stay at a significantly better rated property.

Thats' actually my FILs' condo in the distance out the window! We can walk to his place (or vice versa) while we're here! This photo was taken from the hotels' web site!
SO - good morning to everyone

WOW, that is HOT HOT HOT, be careful in the heat you guys, looks like we will get some rain here tonight.

We are off to the Dollar Store, I love that place, ya know ya never have to ask for a price check there, :thumbsup2 :teeth:

Captain---

Just heard that the temp here in the Napa Valley yesterday officially was 113. OMG.

We just returned from Fairfield. At 9:00 a.m. this morning it was 100. Can't even imagine where that is going. They are always about 10 degrees warmer than we are here in the valley.

My daughter says that the weather Gods are just preparing us for September.

They say it's supposed to break tomorrow and get down to 99. Yippee!

Stay cool -- spare the air. Which means you can't do anything. No yard work, no laundry, no vacuuming, etc. Just sit and veg, watch the NASCAR race, the TDF and then hit the pool this afternoon when it is over the top.

49 more days until WDW and cruise!!!

Where in Wisconsin will you be? If you are nearby, we could try to meet.

Tracy, we will be in La Crosse. We were going to fly into Madison, as we have friends/family there as well, just couldn't get a decent rate on a flight, so now we are flying into Minneapolis and driving into La Crosse. Good thing there is, I get to go to Mall of America, lol, a little shopping is in order I think.

NWS recorded only 103 in our zip code - and clearly it was not as bad as yesterday... and yes... it feels like 112 outside with the 59% humidity. Now on the other hand.... having 100 degrees in Fairfield at 9AM sounds actually kind of frightening.

Aside from that - I've spent some of today going over the Sailing newsletters with my spouse - and it looks great - so much to go over. Plus we're watching G4 live coverage of Comicon in San Diego. I had heard of this but never attended. It looks like fun to check out - maybe next year I'll try attending (in costume???)...????

I've actually just purchased a couple of detailed and sophisticated costumes like these for Halloween - we were going to use them for a H-party and on the DCL H cruise this year. Now, of course it's just the H-party we'll be using them. I would not mind using them for something else fun within the next year or two.

So - we've not had any earthquakes yet - so all seems quiet out here otherwise. We're gonna move on to root beer floats and popsicles before we venture out = its' the hottest part of the day and we're gonna go out and venture about a bit somewhere with strong A/C ... and possibly catch a movie or something like that.

Adios :wave2: !

Friday was pretty warm - 118 degrees. I think yesterday it dropped down to 116. The best part was, we had friends over (the Blakes - they are on this cruise) and at 6pm our pool water tempertature was 94 degrees. That's our spa water temperature in the winter!!

I'll bet it's a dry heat though. The humidty really "gets" me though. BUT... what am I saying??? One hundred AND eighteen is pretty intense too! Last nite we were swimming in our pool from about 7:30 til 9:30Pm... and it still warm and balmy out. Plus we havd lightening in the distance - AND we're in the middle of a flash flood warning for the county even though there is no rain where we are - someon else in the region may be facing a serious hazard with flood threats! Tonight I imagine we'll be swimming again. We're about to step out now (finally)... adios til later tonight!

Cheers!

I have heard that you have to get up early to go through customs when you go to St. Thomas because it is an american territory and you have visited a foreign country ( St Marteen) before disembarking there. My question is since St. Thomas is our first stop will we have to go through with the early morning customs?. Or because we went through International Waters will we have to anyways?

Interesting Question, I have not a clue, I'll be up early anyway. My guess would be yes as we are not in the US when on a Disney ship.

I should know the answer to this but I am having a senior moment (sort of 24X7 these days). When we did the Antigua cruise in 2004 we didn't go to St. Maartin but did St. Thomas first. For the life of me - I honestly do not remember going down to the theatre that day. If I was home (currently in Toronto) I could look at my old Navigators but the closet is a pretty long commute at this moment. Anyone else remember???
