Thanks for making me feel welcome here, my son will be 4 1/2 by that time and my husband will have just celebrated his birthday the week before the cruise. I am quite excited and I haven't yet told my husband or son that I have done this, I'm thinking Christmas surprise for them.

My DD was 4 1/2 for her first Disney cruise. Your son will have a blast! One thing to think about is that you might want to move him up to the 5-7 year olds. I did that with my DD mainly because we were traveling with her cousin who was 7 at the time. But I was glad I did, because I think she would've been bored with the 3-4 year old activities. Developmentally, there's a big difference between a 25 month old and a kid who's almost ready for kindergarden. You don't have to decide in advance, and the youth activities staff will work with you to figure out which group will work best for you and your son. Just try to get him into one group or another as early as possible in the cruise, so he can make friends within his group.

Thanks for the advice, I had thought I had read that they wouldn't allow you to do that unless it was close to their birthday during sailing (DS pirate: won't be five until Feb 2010). I definetly will try that though, he is already going to preschool part-time and interacts with the older children more than the ones his age (may be that they are all girls though):grouphug:

We are heading to DL in three weeks so this will be the primer for our son and my husband, I just don't know if I can keep it a secret that long for them.

See how they do at DL and then decide if you want to tell them now or wait. I bet they'll have such a great time that you won't be able to wait.

I don't know how you can keep it a secret from your kiddoes. I know lots of people do, but everytime I try I tell her before the day is out. :lmao: :lmao:

Welcome to the party! Is your 11 y/o a boy or girl? My DD will be turning 11 on Sept 21st. We're doing B2B cruises, so we'll still be onboard for her BD!

Wendy

He's a boy, but will play/hang out with anyone who shares similar interests.

I really have to keep this secret. It'll be easier, because dh won't be home to discuss it with. The only way I could convince him to book this trip after our double dip is because he's going to miss it. He'd never have agreed otherwise. Sometimes, though, I think maybe it would be good to tell them,to give something to look forward to while he's in Afghanistan, but then my evil self kicks in and I remember my plan to tell them we're going on a 4 night Sovereign of the Seas to the Bahamas, then say, "Oh no, we missed the ship, we'll have to go on Disney instead."

My DD's birthday is in September, and we sailed in May. But they didn't blink twice when I asked about putting her with her cousin. If your DS is already in pre-school and used to group situations, he may prefer the older group too. The CMs will trust your judgement.

I'm in the AF - as is DD's Dad - and we only have 4 month deployments. But I know that after about 2 1/2 months in, she starts having a hard time. Why don't you save the surprise as something you can pull out of your hat when the kids are really missing Dad? Then you can keep them busy making magnets to decorate your door, and getting costumes together for pirate night - just a suggestion. I'm sure you know what's best for your family.

That's a good idea. We have up to 400 days on this one, and it's our first deployment. I'll probably be nuts in a month.

Julie

Just popping in to say Hi to everyone and to bump us off of page 2.

Welcome to all the folks who have just booked!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

Hi everyone, I just put down the deposit for the last voyage to Tortola next year. I lingered on the board for a few weeks because I am actively planning a trip to Disneyland in three weeks for my family (husband and son are first timers, only my second in twenty years).:surfweb: I saw how everyone was posting about the cruises and decided to check out the dreams unlimited website and just got a special pricing for a cat 7 room. Thanks for the info everyone supplies, I can't wait for this!!!!!pirate:

:cheer2: :welcome: :cheer2:

You will LOVE DCL !!!! trust us!!
Some of us have 4 Disney Cruises booked for over the next 2 years :rolleyes1

I wish we had one planned between now and then, but, hey, you need a break sometime right?:rotfl2:

Yeah, I know. It's driving me crazy. Right now we don't have anything Disney planned between now and this cruise. Might have withdrawls. We might go to WDW with my parents in Nov. it just depends on work. Stupid work. Ruins everything, but makes everything happen.:rotfl2:

Hello, I just noticed this Meet even though we booked this cruise the day that the dates opened up. It will be me, my wife, and our DS5 and will be our 5th Disney Cruise and 6th overall (All of them with our son, whose 1st was at 18 months old). We're also booked for September 2008. We always book early for September in a 'Secret' cat 7. We're excited about going to Tortola. I'll have to go back through this thread and catch up!!!

Thanks for the welcome Emily. By the way, I noticed your avatar - My Mom and Brother live in Blount County Alabama...brother works at a shop that makes Mercedes body panels.

I see that others are also on the 9/27/08 Double Dip right after drydock. Great minds must think alike!!!:goodvibes

Cool, I actually need to change it. Just haven't done it yet. We just got rid of it a few months ago, but I still love Benz's.
