September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

happy birthday woody! :)

I've edited this twice trying to get all capital letters but it simply refuses. Just want you to know Woody that your birthday is worth more than just small letters.

Does everybody know about the new kids sail free?

Jan-April dates for 3 and 4 day cruises

.

Yes, we just picked up a 3 night Jan. 14 for $777 for 2 adults and 2 kids...3 kid is staying in grandpas room for free...Can't beat that price.

On Friday I'll do my last WW weigh in before leaving for vacation. I'm not going to track or count points on vacation. I think it's good to take a break from the routine completely. However, by the time I hit my last weigh in I'll have lost 38-39 pounds total. I'm thinking beforehand, like WW is teaching me to do, and questioning how much weight I am willing to gain for a carefree vacation experience. I'm thinking ten max, five preferred. For that, I'm going to have to limit my unlimited portion of bacon all week. I will be way more active than at home, so I've got that going for me.

Ian, how does one stay on target while not tracking? Especially with tempting meals that I'm not eating at home either? What's your best advice?:confused3

Technically, I should be telling you to track and there is no alternative, and there isn't, as I have found that without over the long run tracking portions grow and accountability declines.

For a short period like a vacation, then I would suggest that one be honest with oneself. We all know what is a reasonable portion and what is not a reasonable portion. The challenge is whether we choose to be honest with ourselves as to what's reasonable.

I would also prioritize what's important and not waste points on things that ultimately have no priority or low priority. Priorities should run for the day and not meal by meal.

While I would like to have a huge breakfast and eat the breakfast pastries, in reality it is a low priority meal, when compared to dinner and the breakfast pastries are exceedingly low priority when compared to dessert at dinner. Therefore, I will be more relaxed at dinner than I will at breakfast.

I am also accountable for any weight I gain, and can accept a 2 to 3 pound gain and in the end, it must have occurred only for things I really wanted and not for anything silly.

I did this during our trip to WDW in May. I set myself a limit of gaining 2 to 3 pounds and ended up losing 1.8 pounds.

Happy
Birthday!

WooHoo!!! Congrats!!

Quickie Post.. I have to get ready for my support group meeting.. As long as it stays on Topic tonight it should be very emotional since it is about the Sudden Death/Loss of a Child.. :littleangel:

Woody... HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!!!!!! :cake:

Peco Bill.. CONGRATS!!!!!

Harry!!! :cheer2:

Ella.. Thanks for the Tea update.. I would still really love to do Tea as I have never been able to do one in the past 9 cruises.. but, I'm at the mercy of what everyone else chooses... As for the Champagne Girls can we go somewhere else? Too bad we can't have it at Palo's.. I don't have a suite or else I'd offer our room..

Deb,
congrats on your weight loss...that is wonderful. I am a lifetime member for 5 years now. Currently 5# over goal...and really trying. I am going to try some of the tactics that Ian gave us. I am only eating what I really, really love. I am going to try the one bite of desserts thing too. I am usually so full from all the food that one or two bites of the dessert is all I need. I am also planning on a daily run. We went on a RC cruise last summer and in 7 days I gained 10# - and I ran for 30 minutes every day. I don't want a repeat of that!!

Kim - It sounds like you have all the right skills. I once gained 10 pounds in one week from the WDW dining plan, which is why I don't do it anymore.

I'm really going to focus on trying to prevent myself from going into my "stupid zone" where I start listening to pixies and I play "brownie roulette" pulling the trigger eating a brownie and then looking to see if I gained a pound or dodged it!

At least I know I've got the skills to get back on track. I'm not ready to let out my shower curtains yet.

CHAMPAGNE GIRLS UPDATE.......

DCL does NOT have any space available for Sunday Sept 13th. They suggested Monday Sept 14th at 2:30 pm. I asked if there was anything else available on a sea day because I have a Palo High Tea on Monday at 3:00 pm with three other ladies. I'm waiting to hear back again.

If nothing else comes back as available then I will book Monday the 14th as a last resort only. I really don't want to give up my Tea, but I will if I have to. I could try to reschedule it, but I know that it's going to be near impossible. We'll see what they answer. I'll let you know.

I hope we can have another day/time otherwise I will have to choose between getting tipsy with the Champagne Girls or mud wrestling!

How long does the Champage girls event typically last?

-Kay

Of course, if someone has a large cabin, in a category with a very small number, we could impose . . .

Liken how you think :thumbsup2

Oh Karl and Robin :flower3: Karl, we might bribe you with an invite to stay at the party in your own room :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: (and you and I can drink RUM) :lmao:

Hey Deb - I really don't want you to have to cancel your tea! You might not be able to reschedule - this is my opion only and others can chime in - but seriously - other than champagne buckets what do we really NEED from DCL? If we go to a corner of one of the bigger bars - wouldn't that work? Sorry - just trying to help -

You and I will be in the corner of the other bars trying to think up ways to get that picture with the Goose and Chocolate Caked devil friend we like to call IAN :cool2::rolleyes1

Oh that's so sweet of you to say Peg. You're so considerate. But really, I would rather miss tea than change the Champagne Girls. It's so much more than drinking champagne in a bar. It's more like a club exclusive to women. I've been to tea before and I'll do it again. The Champagne Girls are so much more fun! It's my choice. It's ok.

For Kathe, Vicki and Stacy....my Tea Mates....I'll keep the ressie and just try to reschedule. If I can't I'll keep it the same and any of you that want to go, can do so. I'll keep you informed as I find out. You can each make your own decisions as to which one you want to do.

I'm happy to grace you all with my presence and then Nab Deb's spot at TEA :woohoo:  But really, don't give that TEA AWAY, someone here will want it. You know how we roll on Ressies :thumbsup2

Can we meet in the terminal before embarkation to get our lanyards? If not then, how are you planning to deliver them?
Angela

Perhaps we'll see you at tea. It's one of the designated costume events you know. Perhaps we will even acknowledge your acquaintance.

My problem is when the beer (or rum) starts flowing.... the diet just isn't that big of a deal anymore. As Scarlett says, 'I'll think about that tomorrow."

Well, I for one would be willing to miss rope drop for that event! I wonder how my travel companions (who happen to be the ones with the computers) feel about that ??? :confused3 Cheri may even be awake then! :lmao:

I believe lanyards will be passed out in the terminal AND at the 3PM DISmeet in the Promanade Lounge. (Also folks at the Fishlips dinner will be getting theirs then.)
