September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

Just make sure you have a knotted hanky!! Oh no, that would mean you would embarass me!

I wonder what that would be?

Nassau is fine for one visit. We did a guided walk with David Marx(Passporter) and that was very interesting. Friends went to the Atlantis hotel for the day and enjoyed that. The worse thing was getting in and out of the port. Quite a scrum. Lots of touristy tee shirt shops etc.

When did you cruise with David Marx? We were on a Mouse Fest cruise with them last December. Only 4 nights-much too  short!

I agree completely. They could make Castaway a DVC destination for us. Let us get off the ship one week and pick us up the next.

Joanie

I'm in, save the hammock on Senerity Beach for me :goodvibes

well maybe they are on the UPS truck that just left my house ;)

He did come here really early today strange :confused3

Fingers crossed.

Well at least I don't really NEED the docs to get on the ship anyway. Just makes things seem more real (which they do not at the moment!) OMG I have just 2.5 weeks to get organized. :scared1:

Happy for you all that got your doc's... I just phoned home to see if DH checked but alias he's still at work... hurrrph.

Hmmm what else was I going to say? OH, I did the Jackie trick - made a laminated sign to stick in my luggage if the outside tags get ripped off and my luggage is lost... name, address phone, where we'll be on what days and phone numbers for those days... does that mean I'll have to worry about some idiot coming to MY house and trying to break in and hurting my poor house/dog sitter? Good thing I've got a gal pal staying there part of the time (she'll be in Phoenix on business) with the OTHER gal - who would HURT them! ;) Also have block watch and neighbors who are great about knowing what's up - one is a detective too...

Reminded my boss about my vacation - was a bit worried about this because I don't know if remembered how long I was going to be gone - but he's very excited and happy for us. I also told him about the "park" that my DH wants to the Holy Land Experience in Orlando and that's something that would be right up his alley...

So, I've got lots of back up for people giving puppy love to my girls - my boss and others at work are all covered for my absence - my staging area has been set up for weeks... my signs made, and with that I'm leaving town for the weekend! Yep, heading over to NM to visit my gal pal's ranch with my other gal pal Lisa. It went down to 44 degrees last night she said so I'm very excited to get COOL!:yay::woohoo::dance3:Hiking - playing with the horses - cooking and canning with the girls - YIPPEE FOR ME!

No doc's yet here yet - We booked directly through DCL this time. I thought maybe since we are smack dab in the center of it all we might get them. ;)

Tried on some cruise clothes today - Am more confused than before. Also am one size larger than the last cruise, but surprisingly it doesn't bother me so much...... is that maturity or insanity? DD6 has an opinion of everything and only gave a thumbs up to anything with some glitz. :3dglasses

With all this cruise planning I almost forgot that dh's birthday is on that Sunday of our cruise. I need to come up with something special for him that day. (Already booked a couples massage that he knows about). I don't want to pack much extra. Any ideas?

For sure tell your server and they will have a cake for him at dinner :thumbsup2 We had a guest at our table that didn't care for chocolate and I have to say the white cake was FABULOUS :woohoo:

We're going to have about 32 celebration cakes at our table during the cruise.

Well, perhaps not quite that many, but at least one for Hisselfness, whose birthday does fall out on St. Thomas day.

We are going to miss the tequila at Epcot, but will be staying near DTD before the cruise. I just came across this tidbit about Paradiso 37 that opened this summer there: :cool1:
Paradiso 37, a high-energy restaurant and bar featuring cuisine from North, South and Central America, welcomes guests to its table in May at Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World Resort.

The lakeside eatery will offer a delectable variety of menu offerings representing the 37 countries of the Americas, plus an international wine bar, 37 varieties of tequila and 10 signature frozen margaritas. The new concept was developed by Orlando-based E-Brands Restaurant Group, a multi-concept restaurant group which currently owns and operates Timpano Chophouse, Samba Room, Taqueria Canonita, Aquaknox, David Burke, Salsa Orlando and Canonita Express in a number of locations across the United States.

The lively Downtown Disney restaurant will feature nightly entertainment and will be open daily from 11 a.m. until late night.

Sounds like a good way to start off the trip!

We haven't recieved ours yet. We booked thru DU from the get go (no transferring for us). I noticed that those on the east coast have gotten theirs. I'm wondering if they send them out by regions (international, then east coast, Midwest, then west coast). We'll see I guess. We're from the Midwest and my mail doesn't come 'til 3pm (Central Time) so maybe it'll get here today.

We are in the east. Have been watching but nothing as of yet. We will be away Sunday and Monday, home Tuesday and then gone for a week. They better get here soon!

We are going down on the 10th and staying the first 2 nights at Wilderness lodge villas, and then the last night after the cruise we are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge...Can't wait it should be a blast!

We are staying at VWL and arriving on the 4th. It's one of our favorite resorts, so much so that it is our primary home resort.

Jan, so glad that Tom is doing well.

Harry's first round of chemo on Friday was very draining for him. It lasted over eight hours. He came home and slept all evening and all night. He felt quite well on Saturday though. Even his mood was better. I think he is finally accepting this and has gotten through the first big hurdle. The next big hurdle will be the hair loss. He has such a great head of hair too, which will make it that much harder. I am sure that there will be many ups and downs but it was so good to see him in a much better state of mind this weekend. DD had us over for dinner. It was a nice, relaxing evening.

Donna

Thanks for sharing. I bet Harry has a great head under that great hair! We look forward to having him with us in the cruise whether he leaves the hair behind or brings it along--it is the guy we enjoy being with!

 for you being there for him as he faces a new hurdle.

Hi guys, back from a two week road trip vacation. Loved Yellowstone and absolutely loved the Glacier-Waterton International Peace Park, in particular Waterton Townsite in Canada.

My new room number is 6532. Gave up a 9 and got a 6. Hopefully someone here will be able to benefit from our upgrade. Could you please change my room number on the first page? I have been in contact with the FE list keeper so she knows the new number. Not sure if the lanyard list has the room numbers. Thanks!

Hope everyone is well and just as excited as we are.
.
got it! thanks for posting. : )
.

I am going to check with my wife to find out our Room Number. We have added a new name to the family since our last cruise.

Jim

:boat: WELCOME ABOARD :sail:

I will add you to page 1 post 2. If you have any questions--ask. This group has planned some DIS gatherings. Info about them is on Page 1 post 1. There is a coordinator for most who can be contacted about details. Some events have closed for participation due to need to purchase items, but some have not.

Happy sailing!
