September 10, 2005 - Western Cruise!

Two weeks form today we will be driving toward the port, going over that one hill and (gasp) there she will be....that magical ship!!!!!!!!
I think it's very exciting that as of tomorrow it will only be one week and 6 days away. For some reason, even though it's alomst two weeks, saying "one week and.." makes it soooooo close!!!!!!

hehehe I only have to wait 11 more days, we are going to Saratoga, for 3 days first, first time to saratoga, home resort, actually my mom used her points for saratoga, first time using my points on the cruise!!!

FLTink called me this morning to tell me she had my docs. I hadn't read the boards yesterday after she said it here. As I was already out and about I headed to her place to pick them up! I officially have mine in hand. Her's still didn't show today

So, I don't know if ya'll have been reading the live postings from the Repositioning Cruise (the Magic is, as we speak, heading back to Florida) but I just read something VERY exciting!!!!
One of the passengers posted something saying that in a contest today she won the chance to be one of the first guests to experience the StingRay encounter at Castaway Cay when the ship gets there in a couple of days. Sooooooooooooo.........one can only assume that the encounter is opening THIS WEEK!!!!!!!! It must be going to be open when we get there too!!!! My fiance is going to FLIP!!!! I called DCL but they are still being all hush-hush and denying that it even exists. Wow! I am excited!

That's AWESOME news! I had read on some other posts that DCL was building one there on CC and was slated to open towards the end of September. I thought we would just miss it with our sailing. But sounds like it'll be open for us.

Too bad we already have our Stingray City excursion booked for Grand Cayman.

This would be great. DH wants to do the stingrays in GC also, but I really wanted to just spend the day at the beach there. I'm sure he would rather do it at CC, since we've done it in GC before, and since DD probably won't get out of the boat, we can just stay on the beach and play at CC!

I guess if the Eastern cruise ahead of us gets to do it, we'll know for sure!

Jay - my Dh and I are 25. We considering ourselves in the lower twenties still.

I can't believe how close it is. Just one more weekend. Plus we have labor day off. So we only have 8 more days of work!!!!!!!

thats cool im almost 23, its going to be a blast, is anyone else bringing booze, or does everyone else just buy it all at the bar?
I hope this stingray deal is open at Castaway Cay for us! woo hoo keep those fingers crosed! i hope my mom doesnt destroy my saltwater tanks while im gone for 12 days!

im confused where can i find out what all these shortforms, like DH and all the DD and everything thanks, I just have GF wich i obvious...thanks

Jay, we brought liquor with us one time but e never used it. It ends up beig a hassle is every time you want a drink you have to go back to your room. Plus, the drinks on the ships are not very expensive (compared to your average bar) and they make them VERY strong!!!!!!!! Also, do note that on every bar tab you get, they automatically add a gratuity. We usually do tip on top of that, but you don't have to and it will explain why your drinks are a bit more expensive than you thought.

Jay045: We are 29 & 29. I'm glad to know there are alot of folks around our age on the cruise.

Re: drinks. I think the prices for drinks on the ship (from what I've seen on old Navigators) are very reasonable. Compared to $6-8 for a drink at a restaurant where we live (MA), DCL's $3.50-5 per drink is a good price. I've already done out my drink budget for the week, had to factor it in to my overall cruise cost 'cause that stuff can really add up. I've budgeted 3 drinks/pp/per day, which comes out to about $200 worth of drinks. Seems reasonable since we typically do not drink that much at home, but you never know...vacation (and not having to drive or be responsible!) can make you do wacky things!

You know I got really freaked out about my decision to do this. I should have planned better when I bought my airline tix, but I didn't. Tried to change them last week + get a hotel and it was mega expensive so I figured I'd just go with my original plans to fly in morning of. And you know, if something happens, due to weather and the flight doesn't work out, my travel insurance will cover it, and we can always end up going to WDW for a week. Now that doesn't sound too bad either! I REFUSE to get stressed out about this trip. It's supposed to be vacation and something will work out no matter what. Keep the faith!

I'm 37, but don't let that scare ya. I still like to party once in awhile like I'm 23. And BTW, I'm bringing my soft-sided cooler onboard stocked with beer. Looking forward to watching some NFL action during our cruise if I can find the time too.

Nabee ill let some of u guys try some if i bring it, but i have to carry it around everywhere...Ill see what ill do.
Oh yea, vodka, and big cup from 7/11 or something, and get the juice on deck 11 or something like that...all night!

New exciting news form the folks onboard the Magic Repo Cruise!!! The BEST band on the ship, The Charles Marshall Band, will be staying onboard until the Magic goes into drydock in October!!!!! Yay!!! For those who have seen them, I am sure you can verify how great they are. For those of you who have never seen them, they are without a doubt, the best band on the seven seas!!!!!!!! "Oh what a night...."

I was on the verge of changing our plans to fly in the night before, but then I got my class schedule for next term and I have a Friday night class! We're only allowed to miss 2 per term (any more and they drop you from the class), so since I'll already be missing one on the cruise, I can't risk that. So I decided to stay with our original plan and be thankful for travel insurance, like you mentioned! I'm sure it will be fine!
