September 10, 2005 - Western Cruise!

Heard alot of great things about Captain Marvin's.

For one, there's not as many people on the boat so you feel it's a little more exclusive. Second, the DCL excursion we had initially signed up for was at 7:30 am (yuck). Capt Marvin's has a 10:00 departure time. Third we saved ourselves more than $25 (three of us).

Check out their web site. I'd type it in here but the boards won't show it. Just Google "Captain Marvin's". They have different types of excursions to choose from. You can do everything right online and you get a very friendly email response back from them in no time confirming your ressie. Very easy to do.

Hope this helps.

woj: the DCL stingray excursion (i am signed up) that was at 1pm is now at 9:45am if that makes any difference to you. i just got a letter in the mail from DCL.

also, do any of you know, for the Vista Spa, do i have to make advance ressies for rainforest room only?

thanks,

OH BOY!!!

We have only 12 days left until our cruise begins!!!!!!!

:cool1:  :cool1:

What is everyone doing in Cozumel? I can't decide if I want to do an excursion or not, I think the beach break would be nice, Mr Sancho's looks good, but I don't know about a women with 3 young girls getting in a cab in another country, anybody have any suggestions?

We are doing the Cozumel Beach Break excursion. I have heard from these boards that it is very easy to just get a cab and have them drop you at a beach, and we'd save alot of money. But the Coz Beach Break includes lunch and drinks, so we just decided it would be easier to book this. But after it's over, we may be kicking ourselves for spending more than we needed to!

Is anyone going to a beach in GC? If so, which one? Or can you suggest one to me?

Kelly, we are doing GC on our own. I posted earlier that we are doing the Coz Beach Break excursion, because we've never been to Cozumel and don't know if we will feel safe. However, we've been to GC several times, and feel fine about doing the beach on our own. We're actually renting a car from Andy's Car Rental, and we are going to drive around the island and see the hurricane damage (they were devastated by Hurricane Ivan last year), and then we will probably spend the rest of our time at one or two beaches we've been to in the past. There is a public beach at the north end of Seven Mile Beach, and I like it because it has restrooms (important with DD7). We also like the beach at Cemetary Reef, but there are no facilities there, so we may spend a little time there also.

With taking cabs, I always worry whether there will be cabs available to take me back to the ship. But at the public beach, I've always seen cabs around, so I wouldn't think it would be a problem.

Does anyone know if you can do the ruins in Cozemel on your own? My husband really wants to go see them and we really don't want to pay what disney is asking. We don't want to go see the Tulum ones but the ones not too far form the dock it starts with an S but I can't remember. I did a search online and it only costs $5 a piece to get in to those ruins. Do you think it will be hard to get a taxi and explore it on our own? I am soo excited I can't wait to go!!!

They do not take ressies for the Rainforest. You just buy your pass and go when you want.

We're taking a taxi to Paradise Beach in Cozumel. It doesn't cost anything to get in, there's a restaurant, beach toys, and chairs and I've heard a lot of good things about it from other DISers. I just can't fathom having to PAY to go to the beach! Especially the rates that Disney is charging. Maybe I am just too cheap! Is anyone going to a beach in GC? If so, which one? Or can you suggest one to me?

And Jay - we don't have insurance either. :earseek:

Kelly.
I agree with you on the cost for a beach excursion, 50.00 per person, I know it is in a great location, but I can go to a beach here in the states for the week-end for what they are charging for a few hours. :earseek:

if anyone wants to go snorkiling in cozumel for cheap take a taxi to Playa Cornona, its like a bar and it has some of the best snorkiling right off of its rocky beach!,
there was a sand beach we went to as well and took a taxi, it had swings around the bar for chairs! it was nice, i think disney took you there to, but free to go or like $2 and a taxi like $10, when you get off the boat you turn right its abit down the road, make sure the taxi driver comprenda's where it is... also if you speak alittle spanish u can ask the taxi drivers to take you to a good beach, they know there way around, the taxi's are pretty decent run by like 2 big companies, not much to be affraid of, just the different language scares some people i think...

there is a ton of beachs in grand cayman too just do a search on the internet, I found all kinds of spots to go snorkeling right off the beach or rocks!

Are we there yet!!!!!!

:::sitting here wondering if FLTink got her docs yet!::: :confused3

I read somewhere that someone wanted to ride around and see the damage the hurricane did last year. I was in GC in May and you would be amazed at how normal it looks. Just walked around the area shopping in a little inland we saw no real signs of it. If you want to see the damage a hurricane catagory 5 can do... I can send you pictures of me from my last trip after drinking a number of them at Breezes by the Bay!!!! ROFL! The have a catagory 1-5 each one a different drink. Of course I went right to 5! If you are looking for a bite to eat or a drink, that is a nice place in GC. It's right across from where the tenders come in and it's upstairs with a balcony. You see bubbles being blown out by a bubble machine.

Yesterday I had written a nice long post here and the site ate it! I tried a couple of times to send it and then POOF gone... I wasn't about to go through the whole thing again LOL

my friend at work orded something off of ebay 4 me and it took 2 1/2 months...lol and i think the origional is still lost in the mail! who knows!

Boy....it's finally here! Just around the corner! Only 11 days until the Cruise! We booked our cruise last October, and can't wait! We are in 7622!

See everyone there!

Morning, all! The Magic is almost home, which means, it's almost time for us to sail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only 11 more days! Where has the time gone. Booked this cruise 15 months ago but have been talking about for two years. Feeling more stressed than excited right now. Fearing that we're going to forget something before we leave.

Anyone else feel this way?

For me, the excitement will really set in when we're driving into PC and see that big beautiful ship before us. THAT is when I'll be excited! :hyper:

Yesterday was a stressful day for me and my Dh. And I cried last night b/c all I could think about was getting on that ship and leaving it all for a week. We so need this vacation together. I can't believe it's so close. And this weekend we're going to the mountain with my family and then it's back for 2 days of work. Then thursday I'm doing my annual trip with my mom and sister to the Yellow Daisy Festival. It's this huge craft thing that's comes to metro atlanta every year. Then friday it's off to MCO. WOW!!!!!!! It's so close!

I was reading the bring the magic home thread and someone on there was getting wireless internet. I didn't think the ship was equipped for that yet. Anyone know details? We are bring a laptop to download our pics from our camera. My sister has a very important doctors meeting on the 14th and I really want to know the results from her test. anyone know anything? Also anyone how much the computers cost in cove cafe?

thanks

The Magic went wireless about three weeks ago. Apparently, the signal, as expected, comes and goes but some people have even gotten a very strong signal in their cabins. The wireless rates are:

$25.00 for 33 minutes

$55.00 for 100 minutes

$100.00 for 250 minutes

The computers in the Internet Cafe are .$75 per minute or $90 for the whole cruise.

Hope that helps!
