Sept-Dec Room Discounts ~ Information Here

This thread has taught me to never ever attempt to call Disney to make a reservation on discount opening day.

(Although I should add that the website seems very slow right now too.)

Ha ha, we kinda did this to ourselves, didn't we?
 
For those who have already gotten thru, if there is no availability online for the resort I'm already booked at, does that mean they won't apply the RO discount to my existing reservation?

The room category I had was booked (as there are only three of them), but I was still able to add the RO discount.
 
I saved $50!!!!

That's right, $50!!!

However, I've moved from the Garden Wing of the Contemporary to BLV!!!

Thrilled that I could SAVE money and get to the tower.

I will absolutely not tell my husband I could have saved $1000 by moving to WL bunk bed rooms. ;)
 
Bummed- Can't use the discount unfortunately. We are staying in a AOA suite for a few days after our OKW DVC stay for a family reunion- of course the suites are blacked out from discount when we are going- Oct 17-19. I would move resorts but kids are really excited to see the new hotel and we are sharing room with their grandparents. Oh well.....Still going and will have a blast
 

Took 30 min just to get in and now I am hold for 57 min........

I have now been on the phone for 2 hours and thank goodness i booked on line while i was on hold.

My original reservation, i was not able to add the RO discount. I was not able to modify my original reservation to what i had booked online.

I am canceling my original reservation, Disney is moving the money to my new reservation and my dining reservations as well. What a pain, but in the end I got what I needed.
 
I just went online this morning and booked a new reservation - got a room upgrade and still saved over 400. at the POLY. _ I will just call and cancel my first reservation and pay it off when I get my refund.

I couldn't have sat on the phone that long
 
I started calling right at 7:00. Could never get through until around 9:30. Tried the "new reservation " trick. It worked!! On hold for 3 minutes! Was able to get sorta what I wanted..had to change the dates a bit. The first week of Dec seems packed!! Good luck to everyone!
 
Since the values are only 15%, and I'm only staying two days, I am not sitting on hold for hours to save $40. I'll call in a few days and see if there are any spots left but with such a short on-property stay it isn't really worth it to me. 20% would have been only a touch more, but it was still a small amount.

What I *want* to do is move up to moderate, since I LOVED staying moderate last time, but the moderate discounts still price me out for this trip. I'm just happy we get to go, since it was an unexpected trip.

I really hope that they are not pulling the discounts in response to the volume.
 
The call back and say its a new res does seem to be working .... Sort of, no Poly or Yacht Club rooms left at 30% discount :(

The first time it gave me the regular rates, the second time it gave me discounted. It's just overloaded, I think.

Waited on hold for 1 hour 15 minutes (after 15 minutes of the line being busy). The room category I had, BC GV, was not available for our dates (11/30-12/6). Nor was Yacht Club. Ended up switching to Poly (which the CM said has lots of availability). Saved us a little over $300. DS is VERY happy b/c he LOVES Poly. Was hoping to save more but am satisfied with what we got. Probably makes more sense to stay there anyway with 2 kids under 6.

Been calling for over an hour and can't even get past the busy signal or all lines are busy message.

I have a bounceback booked for the first week of December at the Wilderness lodge but the discount is only for the first few nights. I'm hoping to get the RO discount applied to the end of the week. But I can't even get through at this point.
 
Just called at 0835CST and got through in 2 minutes. I saved 30%($1123.00) on seven night stay in middle of October for a Polynesian Garden View(standard view). They did not have any GV CL available. The call took less than 5 minutes to complete and I said "change existing reservation."

It's been going back and forth every few minutes for the last 30 min or so. I agree, it's just overloaded.
 
To be honest....I'm simply stunned that Disney is unable to handle the volume associated with a new discount promotion. This is nothing new for Disney, these promotions are regularly offered. They know in advance there will be high phone volume will occur when these discounts are offered.

But what is even maddening, is the fact that Disney allows you to make new reservations on line, but you cannot modify existing reservations. How smoothly would things have occurred, if those with existing reservations could make the necessary changes online? A number of companies would prefer that customer modify their reservations via online versus having the customers call. In most instances it's cheaper to have the customers make changes or look up account information online versus having to pay a customer service representative.

While I agree they can do much better. I've seen this before so I'm not surprised. This isn't as bad as it was the first day BOG starting taking reservations.
