Sept. 7, 2012 - Magic NYC - Canada

My cruise is paid off and I'm waiting to do my ressies tonight at midnight. So far just booking Palo brunch. I'm looking at doing one of the short trolley tours, but can't remember which port that is for but I think it's Halifax since I haven't been there. My cousin and his wife are looking forward to going to the casino in Halifax and winning back some of their cruise cost. :rotfl2: We're also going to meet up with a former crew member we met on the Wonder, he now lives in Halifax.
Must go to Tim Horton's for some donuts, might do that in each port. :worship:

DH are gold for the last time on this cruise! so we are booking starting 5/25 the group just after you.
We are still trying to figure out what we are going to do. Definately booking Palo's. We are traveling with 3 others 1 first timer and 1 Silver so I hope we are able to get at least bruch together now that we can not book all of them duirng our window. Hoping the summer goes fast! Sue

Just finished on-line check-in, Palo and excursion reservations. Felt good to reach this milestone. It means it's getting closer!! Can't wait to sail!:yay:

Wow, good for you. How are you doing Palo brunch reservations so early? What day are they offering it on. We are also hoping to do this - not sure if we are also going to do dinner.

Linda

We are Platinum and could book starting at midnight.

Booked Palo brunch for the first sea day. The times offered for both sea days are 10:00, 10:30, 11:30 and 12:30.

Also booked the Adults only Trolley tour in Saint John. Have to look back at the Halifax excursions since we want an early one and one that's not all day and want to go to the Titanic Cemetery, doesn't look like there's one that fits all the criteria. Might have to get to the cemetery on our own.

We are traveling with my cousin and his wife, both first timers, we split our reservation and put my cousin's wife in the cabin with me and my DH in my cousin's cabin. By doing that I was able to book them brunch with us, since the booking window is based on the highest CC member in each cabin.
We've done this before and once on board we just get blank keys for the other to get into the cabin with their spouse.

THanks for the tip. We are using DVC points and they are not. Also there are two other cabins giving a total of 3 in our group and only DH and I are gold. Hopefully it works out! I do have a DCL contact that help with the Alaska cruise last year for brunch so hopefully we can get that help if needed. I don't see it as much of a challenge on this cruise like on the 1st time venues. Sue

I'm sure it will all work out. On the Dream the end of Jan. I had a ressie for 6 for brunch and needed to add 2 more when we got on board, it was changed with no problem.

You are most welcome. I found it to be very helpful, especially giving the distances to places of interest.

I received my Nova Scotia tourist guide in the mail today. It came with an amazing guide for Halifax. So much so see and do in the area close to the port. My DH has decided he wants to go to the brewery that is along the waterfront - Alexander Keith's Nova Scotia Brewery. www.keiths.ca

Jill did you notice what time the Ride the Rapids was occurring in Saint John and the Peggy's Cove & Titanic – Adult Only Departure in Halifax?

Thanks!

It's been along time since I've posted on this thread, as we weren't 100% sure we could go. DS will be away at college, and DD will have her first day of school on Sept 7th, due to some crazy clause in the teacher contract. I feel really bad about missing her first day of school (and all of the paperwork I'll have to fill out :rotfl:) but at least we'll still be in NYC when she gets out of school so we can speak on our phones.

DH and I are still trying to decide what we want to do in port. We were thinking of renting a car in Halifax, but it's a Sunday and I can't find any car rental places open. I hope other touristy things will not be closed due to it being a Sunday. Has anyone found a way to rent a car :drive: or other reasonably priced excursions to do?

The family is off to Alaska this summer (not on DCL). I've been busy planning that, but now I have to shift into planning the other coast of Canada.

The Peggy's Cove/Titanic is a 12:15 departure, both the family and the adults only. The Ride the Rapids is offered at 10:15.

Thanks! With the later Peggy's cove departure that will give us some time to explore close to the ship.

I thought you and Nan were doing early seating. :confused3
I had our TA put us on the waitlist.

We always do late seating. I have to check with Nan to see what she wants to do. What do you prefer?

Just got off the Hawaii cruise and loved every minute of it. Now onward to focus on this one.

We have never tried the early. We always seem to get late seating. I'm pretty sure Nan has early.
I'll call our TA and let her know we plan on sticking with the late.

YES, keep it late and maybe I can convince Nan to do late also. We'll link together after we're both done booking all of our ressies. We don't want a repeat of the night of the fishies....looking at your avatar brings back such unforgetable memories.
