Sept. 7, 2012 - Magic NYC - Canada

Also on deck 6 and so happy with the assignment-can I join the Mickey bar fan club:mickeybar? Am embarrassed to admit that I have never had a Mickey bar...

Don't be embarrassed - there's a first time for everyone - you can catch up on the cruise since they are free (well not free, but included in the cruise fare)

You are more than welcome to join. A Mickey bar is vanilla ice cream covered in Dove chocolate on a stick. I suggested to my Mom that I thought we should only have one for the entire cruise and she hung up on me!

Glad to have you join us - I'm with your mom - gotta have more than one, just don't look at the calorie count on the package

You have a VERY smart mom. Only having 1 Mickey bar is against the law. :rotfl2:

They better have a larger supply than normal of Mickey bars given the amount of talk about them being eaten. Not to mention our friends that are sailing with us will order them a couple times a day from RS.

:rotfl2:

We should include a mickey bar at the meet and greet on the first day - I could order room service and bring them to the meet!

Tammy

:eeyore: As Eeyore would say "Oh Poor Me" - 9 more days :eeyore:

Eeyore is one of my favorite Disney Characters - Who are your favorite characters?

Hi Linda
They are in 2 rooms along with the sitter. Parents are Connie and Tom, kids are Christopher, Daniella, Colin and Tommy, sitter is Joan.
Sorry to confuse!
Amy

Ha ha, thanks for clearing that up. I thought Connie and Tom only had 1 child and Joan was a single mom of 3.

I have not had a Mickey bar in a few years.

Tammy, great idea to have them at the meet and greet - can you order enough from room service for everyone :rotfl2:.

Linda

I would be game for that! Funny you mention that, my mom has her every three month blood sugar figured out so that the month of September and all the Mickey bars won't be included!

Dory - Finding Nemo
Maximus - Tangled
Donald Duck
Sebastian - Little Mermaid
Lumiere - Beauty and the Beast

I could go on and on, but those are my top favorites...

Just want to say hello to all fellow DIS cruisers!:wave2:

DH and I booked it during the DVC special so I'm sure we'll be attending all their festivities while on board...I would imagine the sales team will be eager to entertain so many DVCers onboard.

We won't be doing FE, but it's nice to know we are among a large group of DISers:)

Welcome from one Disney bride to another.

I have been reviewing this thread to see what is new as our trip is getting so close. I must have missed your post earlier.

Glad to have you guys on board and hope to talk to you. We were married in Disney in November 2008.

We are also heading down to WDW for the Food and Wine Festival in October - maybe we will bump into you down there also.

Linda

We have brought wine/champagne and beer with us. We usually carry the bottle with us and the beer in the checked luggage. You can avoid the corking fee if you carry your owner bottle opener...we have never had a problem bringing it on board, you can even buy alcohol at ports and bring it on. We did that on the Mexican cruise with Disney

Do not bring your cork screw in your carry one. We did this in December 2001 for our NYE cruise on the Magic and they took it away from us.

Linda

Yep...just found out the other day I am!!! MJ

That's awesome! BTW, I just saw that you've done 27 Disney cruises! I'm in awe. I'm doing a triple B2B2B with these on 9/2, 9/7 and 9/12. Any B2B tips? :scratchin

Yay, now I can put a FB face/name with a DISName. Can't wait for our Palo Mother's/Daughter's Bruncheon!

We got our room assignment and it is 6511 for the fe lust! Where is my Mickey bar?

Hey, I know I'm on deck 7 in 7024 but I love them too :mickeybar

We received our room today as well. We did an IGT rate, and I'm thrilled to end up on the 7th deck.

Ooohh, were on deck7? I'm 7024 neighbor? :rolleyes1

Hi, Andrea here :) If I had known my disname would be forever attached to my real name I think I might have been a little more careful choosing it! It's all good, though, because we now have a stateroom number: 6530! Yay! I updated it on the official list as well.

I'm not hooked up to the facebook page for this cruise, I hope I'm not missing lots of other interesting and/or important stuff ...

Looking forward to our trip!

Thanks for the update! Here are some links and descriptions from the Event pages that can help you...

Posted by me... The Roaming Mickey Gnome game:
http://www.facebook.com/events/112706548874650/

Courtesy of Kelley Leidemer from our September 2nd Canada cruise I present the "Roaming Gnome"...

The event photo will be printed on a magnet. I will start the roaming and hope that you all will join in the fun. The Rules are simple (see below). On the last night the last person to get it will sign it and bring it back to my room. I will then photo/scan it when I get home and post on the DIS thread and here. I saw the 9/2 version and thought it was too adorable and fun not to do on our cruise! So I hope you do too!!

Rules: Write your name / room number on this
Door magnet then stick it on a fellow DIS’ers door.
Let’s see how many rooms the Gnome can roam
Please return magnet to room 7024 on the last night of the cruise
Disney Cruise Line – Canada & New England Cruise – Sept 7 – 12, 2012

Enjoy

P.S. If you are NOT doing the FEs then please list your Room Number under the post that says you "are going". THANKS!

P.S. Due to some questions. Here is a bit of clarification of the Roaming Gnome... The List of Participating Roaming Gnome rooms will be stuck behind the magnet so that everyone can cross themselves off and see who is left to go. And, though all the room numbers will be on the magnet under the name the list will make it easier. That way you see the magnet with the list on your door; sign it (cursive or print) with the room number; see what rooms are left and take it to that door; the last person on the last evening will return it to my room; I will take it home and scan it; then I will post a pic here and in the DIS. It's that fun and easy. I hope I clarified the process a bit better for you so that we will have more of you playing this fun and easy game :-)

The DISMeet...

Posted by Maria... "Let's all meet in the Promenade Lounge on the day we board. Wear a Lime Green Lei. Don't forget to bring your parents! If you wish to arrive early, some people will be there starting around 2:30."

Posted by me... The Adult Mother/Daughter Bruncheon at Palo...

"So, each of the 3 DIS/FB threads mention a lot of mother/daughters companions. And, in honor of our mother's I have planned our Bruncheon which will be 9/8/12 at 10:00am and has been confirmed by DCL for the following 12 people out of a possible 14 people."

Pink Non-Champagne Girls Meeting Hosted by EllaEnchanted...
http://www.facebook.com/events/450413954990478/

Meeting in Diversions at 3 PM on our first sea day. We're doing a NON Champagne Girls meeting. Nothing organized, just show up and order a drink of whatever you want.....just wear pink. Boas and tiaras are optional. Anyone who wants to join in is welcome - this includes men.

I hope this helps :goodvibes

I went to the bank today and got 50 ones - the teller asked if we were having a yard sale, told him no need ones to tip the wonderful server who brings me mickey bars :rotfl2: Tammy

Tammy do you not like using your stateroom key to put it all on your credit card? I have a Disney Visa so that I can earn more money for my next trip :rotfl:

Margaret, I want to be there to see you eat your first Mickey Bar. Can I join too ;)

OMG that sounds like something my mom would do Mindy! My mom is going to love Pauline! :lmao:

But, I did a 3 week cleanse and gave up a lot of foods including white processed foods like white sugar, flour, and rice. I eat whole wheat flour, brown rice, or honey. However, I will make an allowance for at least one :mickeybar

:worship: Thanks for saying that as my 9/2 cruise requested I bring one for our gathering as well. I didn't know I had to put in the checked luggage if I was :car:

Favorite characters?

Mine are Minnie, belle, Ariel, timon and pumba. Kermit is a favorite as well. I have a magical story about our last DVC member cruise involving the muppets, I can tell at some point:)

My mom's favorite is goofy, jimny cricket and dopey.

Everyone is welcome to join in the indulgence of Mickey bars. Maybe we should tell the cruise to order extra!

For those of you renting cars in Halifax, who are you renting from? I have a good deal through Priceline with Hertz, but I'm not sure how close to the pier the office is. We come in pier 21, correct?
