Kay,

Just sent you a PM re shirts, and an e-mail... the e-mail came back (sigh). That's why the PM. I hope your surgery went okay...

Yes 1 year ago we were on the Member Cruise too! What FUN! It will be hard for Disney to top that cruise. We felt like they really rolled out the red carpet for that one!

Thanks again,
Georgie :)

Oppps - found us on page 2!

How is everyone doing?

Mary - when do you head out to California?

Don't forget that Friday night is cruise chat! Hope to see some of you there!

Good Morning Mary,
We are fine , but today is the funeral for Billy's principal, who died this past Saturday in a car crash. We had to cancel our office until this afternoon. I am going to try to see how long the wait list is or if they are accepting new waitlisters and maybe try to bring his family with us. All depends on if there is availability on the ship eventually. I think I will take us all to McDonald's for breakfast.
Bill

Bill - so sorry to hear that. My condelences to the family.

Bill, I'm so sorry. I'm sure Billy is having a tough time as well as all the kids in the school. How tragic.

I tries to send a private message to Disney1fan2002 but it came back undeliverable. So I will make it a little more public.

I have compiled a list of 70 members who are going on the Members cruise. Should I post them?

Hi everybody, I'm back.
Went to the funeral. Unbelievable how much influence Mr. Bostick had in this community. Billy does not yet understand the significance. I found out that in order to get on the wait list, you must have the names and birthdates of all traveling parties. I can't waitlist the room and see if she would be willing to go. I would have to let her know and then if it didn't manifest, turn her down. I can't do that. So, for now , I'm just continuing my current plan and bringing the Tobias family(they have NEVER had a vacation).
I have not received any reply from the vacation club. It does not look like they will reply to my questions about 1) buying a shirt like the polo shirt offered the cast members and 2) any potential assistance with generating a DVC label shirt. Looks like Kay is our best "DIS" option. It does seem a shame that they won't even reply to me.
Mark, didn't you get one on EBAY? I've been watching, but no luck.
Mary, was there a dis shirt and a DVC shirt from the last member cruise? If so, how much was the "DIS" shirt and was the other shirt complements of DVC or a charge?
Kay, sorry about your surgery, hope you are doing well. Let me know if I need to send you a check.
Billy played his last game of the season tonight . They lost by 20 points. Billy did not get to play. I am glad it is over.
Bill

Bill,

There was no DIS shirt on the last Member Cruise - just the buttons Mark did and some DIS lanyards that BethC and ChrisC brought.

There was a DCL shirt that was given to us one night and we wore it the next day for the group photo.

Yes we got Mark's Member Cruise polo on ebay last year.

Our DIS shirts on the 10 day were $15 each.

But the rest of us would like Polo's as well. And not white!!!

I'd like a blue or dark blue polo. ALso a DVC zipper up sweatshirt would be nice.

Cheryl

3DAN: yea, they don't answer you or pay any attention. At least I did get through twice and got answers that they would not let us use the logo. Steve from Merchandising called me back and we talked a long time. But it just didn't work out.
I am planning a trip to Columbia, SC to finalize the shirts before the end of April and looking forward to it. Of course, will keep everyone up to date.
Right now I have about 100 requests for shirts
AGAIN, if anyone has a short logo that they can think of to go on the shirts, just let me know. You can PM me or at another e-mail: Harrywillima@aol.com

Good Morning Kay, Hope you are doin okay. I just picked out a list of pirate names to choose from for the 14 day cruise. Have you guys done this already?
Angela got the name Cap'n Beatrice Skullcrack. Billy is Pirate Tobias the cash strapped. Mine is potentially Mad William Cash.
Good Morning Mary. Will be watching for the announcment tomorrow . (the countdown)

The weeks are just slipping by aren't they. Today it actually feels like spring here. We went to downtown Chicago today and actually walked along the lake front a bit. Although the lake was still frozen, it was a beautiful February day.

We haven't even been on this cruise yet -- our first -- and I think we are planning another one. We're looking at the 11/11/06 double stop at Castaway Cay. If this works out, it will be a family reunion of sorts as I think both of my sisters, neice & her family and maybe our brother would go too. It would definately be a first as we have never vacationed together. For many years, we didn't always see eye to eye and there had been alot of hard feelings. But, we are getting older now and have already had one of our brothers pass away, so this just might work. It's starting to sound as it might. It must be some of that Disney Magic which is pulling us together. How do most of you cruise veterans book your cruises when your paying cash? Directly through Disney or is there a better option (travel agent?).

My DS10 was very excited to receive his first email from HookonWDW's DS. Cameron responded this afternoon as well as sending his first to 3Dan's DS. I hope both boys get them as I know Cameron will be looking forward to responses.

Bill, what's up with the pirate: names? Is that a special event for the 14 day cruise? I bet the kids are going to have fun with that.

pirate: Okay... I need some help... Is there going to be a pirate night on our 4 mohjt cruise? Is this something Disney has added to all cruises??? I guess I had thought this was something for the longer cruises - 7 + 10 day...

Thanks!

Cindy, Bonzie1,
I believe that there will be a pirate night on the four day member cruise. Anyone else correct me if i am wrong. THat being said, many people dress like a pirate and get a pirate name. On the relocation cruise, they are making buttons that apparently have the pirate name. Even if not , everyone is getting a pirate name and preparing to dress for the part. PS, there is still room on the relocation cruise, come on guys, join us there also.
The location for the pirate name generator is www.talklikeapirate.com/piratehome.html.
I think you go to the fun and games section and click on pirate name generator.
There are multiple generators and if you don't get a name you like, try a different generator or name (like Bill instead of William). I like Angela's name Cap'n Beatrice Skullcrack. It was particularly fun on the first generator where it asks you a lot of questions. Try it and let me know.

As I am sure you will find out, most people seem to go through an agent. They may first book through DCL , but then might transfer to an agent and get the agent discount. Like Dreams Unlimited. However!!!!!!, You then have to deal with the travel agent and NOT DCL. Docs get sent to the agent and then to you. Sometimes the discount seems great, but I am not sure that I would be willing to deal with anyone but DCL. I get nervous not being able to call them and check on the ressie. Don't forget , you will be able to book a cruise on board the ship in Sept, but that is a long time away. Two years ago, they offered a 50% discount when booking on the member cruise. I saw it on the navigators from back then. I am not convinced that will happen again. If it does, I will book upwards of two or three cruises while on board. 50%!!!!!!!!
I need to wait on the relocation cruise to see if they have a special discount then and make some decisions. Worst case scenario, 10%off and 200 dollar onboard credit which is standard onboard discount for Disney.
Bill

Cindy - you have a couple of choices. You could book now either direct from DCL or through a travel agent (you can get a quote from Dreams by clicking on the link at the top of the page). Or you could wait until the member cruise and then book on board.

If you book on board you will get an onboard credit for that next cruise. The price in September might have gone up from the current price so that is a risk. For example while on the 10 day in December we booked the 5/27/06 cruise. Within a week of coming back the price was over $1000 more. My thinking is there were a lot of us booking that cruise and we used up all the early booking discount rooms - don't know that for sure.

If you do book on board you can then transfer that booking to a travel agent and get any offers they have (like the Dreams rebate we got).

Bill - I can't speak for all agents, but I know that with Dreams the money goes directly to Disney and the documents come directly from Disney. I have also found the Dreams staff to be more than helpful in answering any questions. In fact with some things on the 10 day they were much more helpful than DCL direct.

As for Pirate night - yes I'm sure we will have it on the Member Cruise. It is awesome! Fireworks from the ship and a great deck party! A number of the cruisers on the 10 day found the pirate name sites. A good number of them dressed as pirates (including a family of 13!). Some put their pirate names on their cabin doors etc. It was great fun!

Sounds like a real vote for Dreams unlimited. They are sponsoring the wine sampling party on the Magic during the relocation cruise. Wine s are brought from different parts of the country by the guests. They appear to be really devoted to DCL and the dissers.
