That is really cool that your tip is in the book. I would like to be in the drawing too. I was thinking of ordering the book because I feel so lost about the whole cruise thing. I can go to Disney and know it like the back of my hand but this is all new to us. Thanks

Here's my tip as found on page 276.

Before heading out for an excursion, go up to the beverage station on deck 9 and fill up large sports bottles (brought from home) with ice and then top off with water. Any time you need a drink, you have a cool one within reach. No need to buy any water onboard or on the excursion.

We did this on our December cruise and it worked great. We plan to do it again. In the past we have bought water onboard before an excursion or brought bottled water onboard. The water on deck 9 is great so no need (and I'm a bottled water drinker).

I'll put both of your names in the drawing.

GREAT tip, Mary!!! And, that's so cool that it was published.

BTW Cindy or anyone else who needs help or has questions please ask away here. Those of us who have cruised before will be happy to help.

That's cool , Mary. It's also awfully sweet of you to raffle off the extra copy. I am sure it will make someones day extra special. :sunny: :sunny:

Mary that is so cool about your tip being accepted for the Passporter. To the lucky person who wins Mary's drawing - you will really like the Passporter. There is alot of info on the cruise in there. I have both the Cruise one and the Disney one and refer to them all the time.

To all the first time cruisers - it does seem overwhelming, but once you get on board everything seems to fall into place. My piece of advice is........read the Navigator that is in your room each day. It will keep you "in the know"!

I can't believe 2 months from now we will be in Disney! The time is really flying by fast!

Something else everyone should think about - when is your next cruise?

Remember that if you book onboard you get a room credit on your next cruise as well as the lowest DCL price. Also when you get home you can always transfer it to a travel agent and keep the room credit.

For those who are thinking about 2006 may I suggest the May 27th 2006 Double Scoop Cruise. It is a revised Western. It skips Key West (which you won't care about because you will have just been there) and goes to Castaway Cay twice (once at the beginning of the cruise and once at the end). Other stops are Cozumel and Costa Maya. There is a great DIS group already booked and we are a very chatty bunch (over 10,000 posts) but having a lot of fun getting to know each other.

I know they offered a great incentive to cruise again on the last Member Cruise so think about it. Plus if you are like the rest of us - once you've cruise DCL you will be hooked!

Gail - that is great advice. We make it a point to always look over the Navigator before going to bed at night. We bring a highlighter and mark those things we want to attend. You will get a separate one for the whole cruise for the kids clubs so as well.

For those of you who scrapbook and want a nice clean one for your book or if you want more than one for your family extras are available at the service desk on deck 3.

Happy Saturday everyone!

JohnVN - Ok, I know where Englewood is. My aunt lives down in Punta Gorda, so we do head south once in a while. But, of course, we mostly head east to Disney!! :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

Mary - I would love to join you guys on the May Double Dip cruise, but we plan on booking for one of those revised Western cruises in Oct 2006 with the Cruisetoberfest group. I cruised with a lot of them for Cruisetoberfest II, so I think that we're going back.

For the 1st time cruisers - It can seem overwhelming, but once you're on board, it is just overall fun. Don't overthink it all, and you'll have a fantastic time.

Mary

Amy - totally understand wanting to cruise with a great group again. That's why we are doing the May double scoop. At least 8 of the families were on the 10 day with us. Have you already booked it or are you going to book onboard?

I know that, Mary. I've asked a couple of things but still this is so new to us, I feel like I don't know what to ask. Like BCVPrincess said, we also can go to WDW and not even think about what we are going to do or where we are going to dine. We make a couple of priority seatings and that's about it.

We go to WDW so often that we are way beyond commando style (isn't DVC great :teeth: ) that there isn't really much thought process involved. WDW has actually become a relaxing vacation. I remember when we first started going, we'd be up at the crack of dawn going almost non-stop. DVC has changed all that.

The kids and I were talking today about doing the snorkeling at CC. If I remember correctly, it's offered for ages 5 and up. Walker just learned to swim (not great but enough to keep a float) and is no longer afraid of water. For anyone whose done this, is it truly a family event? We can swim although I'm not too fond of the ocean. I'm making the assumption that there is some type of vest to keep everyone afloat? Is that right? Can anyone tell me more about it than the brief description offered online? Thanks.

[size=5If you are interested post here and I will put your name in a drawing. Entries will be accepted until 3 pm Central Sunday afternoon (which should give just about everyone a chance to check the thread). I'll put the names in a hat and Mark will pick the winner. Then I'll pm you for your address and it will be on its way on Monday.[/QUOTE]

Mary,

First, congratulations on being published in Passporter... what an honor! I would love to be entered in the drawing. Good luck all!

Lisa

Cindy,

Everyone who snorkels must wear the vest. If the kids want a little more help you can blow it up a bit. Before you get in the snorkeling lagoon there is a map that will tell you where a few things are. Warning the best things to see are quite a ways out. Not sure if the Mickey statue is back or not. There is a sunken sub from the old 20,000 leagues ride out there as well.

Go as early in the day as you can. When the sand gets kicked up the water gets a little murky.

My first time snorkeling was at Castaway Cay during the first Member Cruise - and we had a great time. As Mary said everyone has to wear a vest. The water is calm - there's a breakwall. They also have life guards stationed around the snorkel course. I think as a family you guys should have a very good time. You can snorkel as little or long as you want (well until you have to get back on the ship).

Will this be the first time you all have snorkeled?

Yes, unless you count the times my kids have worn snorkels in pools while on vacation.

I'm sure my DH & kids will be up to it. It's me I worry about. :confused3 :rotfl2:

Okay, now my DS10 has a question.

Does anyone know what type of games are on board -- playstation2, gamecube, xbox? And, what type of games they have to be played on the controllers? Cameron's assuming they are all going to be "E" games and not the "good" ones.

Does anyone know? Bill -- did Billy mention any of them to you??
