Well, I finished Mr. Penguin....

And, Gail...for you...here's the info on his....It's a Bent Creek Zipper kit (comes in a little pouch--thread, fabric, pattern, and the two star buttons, etc. He is 56x58 stitches. The fabric they give you is 18 ct Blue Ridge Linen and you stitch him over two....so that works out to about 6.4 inches each way. It uses pearl cotton thread, which I just LOVE working with.

Here's another one I finished recently that was a LOT of fun to stitch. All of the carrot noses are buttons as are the charms on their "bellies" and two of the hats. For the eyes and buttons I used beads instead of colonial knots:

So Karen did you finish up those 100 stitches?

Yup, sure did. See above. Although I may take out and redo the left hand snowflake on the base. It just doesn't look right for some reason. Hmmmm....

oops....don't know what I was thinking...

ignore this post! ;)

Those are really cute! Are you now going to frame them?

Yeah, did one for my parents for their 50th and when that one is done and I go pick it up, I'll drop these off. The store that does them isn't that convenient to me, so I'm not just running in there to drop these off. I'm hoping for some really cute snowflakey frame for the snowmen. Handpainted snowflakes or something. :)

Amy & Chris, have a great weekend at WDW!

We're also going to do some house hunting on Sunday while the girls take a nap before the MK party. Chris is going to meet with the guy that has been recruiting him to Orlando. We found out that the company is just north of Universal, so we would probably look for a house just west of there and north of Disney. What a perfect location, huh? We're not sure that we're going to do this, that's why Chris is going to spend the day there on Monday. So, we'll see, but we wanted to see what we're looking at for housing in the Orlando area.

And, moving to Orlando would bring you away from the coastline hurricanes.

Amy & I had a chat about hurricanes and Florida on Sunday. I loved the laid back, if it happens, it happens attitude Amy has. To me, I would be a bundle of nerves, even when nothing is brewing out in the ocean. Amy is definately a go-with-the-flow type.

You know what else, Amy. If your ever looking for a part time job, I'm sure you could probably start a shuttle service from MCO to WDW for all your DVC friends. Not that ME was bad, in fact it worked great, but it would have that personal touch. :teeth: To quote Mary, how cool would that be? :cool1:

Yeah, I love living in FL. I don't miss those Chicago winters one bit!!! I actually call my brother all the time as it starts to get cold and tell him the weather here. And I just LOVE to call them when it's a snowstorm, and it's nice & warm here.

Note to self, don't answer the cell phone when it's a snowstorm. It's probably Amy! :rotfl2:

We've noticed that Hooters tends to be more "accepted" here in the Tampa/Clearwater area. It is a total family place. We see families, couples, young, old, it really doesn't matter. But, I do know that when we were still living in Chicago that there was quite a stink when Hooters opened in Schaumburg. It took my SIL quite a while to actually go to a Hooters, because she thought it was just a "guys" place. But, we took her while she was down here visiting, and now she loves it!!

I've never been to the one in Schaumburg -- even though that's where we live.

But, years ago, Gary & Cameron were doing a photo contest and one of the places they had to go with the group of Dad's & Son's was into Hooters and take a picture to "prove" they took the kids in there. It didn't bother me, I think it bothered Gary more. I'm sure some of the mom's might have been upset.

Yep, still that same feel around here as far as Hooters goes.

Very cute! They would be cute on a sweatshirt.

OMG I think I had 15 pages to catch up!

Thanks for all the well wishes on the new house. The move is tomorrow and I'm positive the dog thinks we are taking off for parts unknown without him - poor guy! The cat on the other hand could care less - she loves the boxes to play between.

Lisa - I am so sorry that your gift hit ebay. I want to go official on record and say it was not us at all - heck we cannot wait to unpack and look at our DVC goodies. Next year i'm hoping that one of our friends takes pity on us and let's us buy their extras from the cruise before it hits ebay (yep I am serious - anyone have a child you want sponsored ? LOL)

Cindy - you are the woman! I would love to live close to you where we could have our future kiddos in your daycare. I'm jealous of all that you do and the wonderful environment you provide - hang tough my friend!

Amy - I passed on the lovely pen information over at the Disneymooners and it's been a HUGE success - those pens are fabulous.

Oh how this thread makes me wish we could join you all next year.. but we have big plans Saturday, October 28, 2005 that we need to be at WDW for and the week of the cruise is Matt's finals.

We went through this with Walker. What we did was bought a child's pumpkin carving knife and gave it to him. Only he was allowed to use it as it was "very special". Worked like a charm. ;)

I found a solution yesterday actually. I gave her one of those spreader thingys. They look like a knife, are totally not even close to being sharp, have cute little apples on the end (her favorite) AND she can smear her syrup all over the place with them! Life is good!

Man, I leave a just a few hours and you guys went crazy chatting it up!!

Amy--find me a house in Orlando too while you are at it....I can't stand the weather here! :umbrella: :cold:

While you are at it Amy look for me too please. I feel like I need to dig a trench and start filling sandbags with all this rain.

Love the cross stiched penguins - the're so cute. I don't have the patience to do cross stitching!

I pulled out all my scrapbooking stuff because tomorrow I'm going to an all day Crop. I can't wait, I'm hoping to get a whole disney trip done!

Yeah, with the hurricane thing, there's nothing that I can do, except be ready to go if I need to, so why worry!

It's funny, because I was talking to one of my very closest friends from college that used to live in Orlando and has worked for WDW since college. She gave me some tips on where to look for houses, and told me that I could get a job at WDW, since I know so much about it. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I never thought about a shuttle service. However, my Expedition is big, but not quite that big. :rotfl2:

You're right, it will probably be me. I'll be telling you about the sunshine and that I'm swimming in my pool or gardening in the yard (what am I saying, I only play outside, not work outside)!!!
