Good morning all!!!
Then, we're heading to the beach at noon today. Chris's company is having their annual picnic down at one of the hotels on St. Pete Beach. And, the weather is supposed to be good too, 87 and sunny.

This is definitely something we don't hear in Michigan in October. Of course we are having some great weather. Low 70's is unseasonably warm here for October, but I'm not complaining - just wish it would stay around through Jan & Feb.

I hear what you're saying Gail - I vaguely remember a warm winter in 1994 or somewhere around that time - wouldn't it be nice if we could have one of those again. Who knows??? With the screwy weather this year, maybe it could happen again. Hmmmm

Heading out on the road this weekend - first trip to NC to get ds' stuff to move back to Michigan for a while. :moped: Next trip will be in a few weeks and then I will be packing for my trip to WDW at the end of Nov. :moped:

It might have been 1994 - we moved into our last house on Dec 18, 1994 and I remember everyone in sweatshirts instead of coats and gloves! We can only hope.

Have a safe trip!

Yeah, I love living in FL. I don't miss those Chicago winters one bit!!! I actually call my brother all the time as it starts to get cold and tell him the weather here. And I just LOVE to call them when it's a snowstorm, and it's nice & warm here.

Yeah!!! A TOP and page 900!!!

Ya know, the only problem with that is that the original Hooters is just SO much better than the franchised Hooters. So, we really only like to go to Hooters around here in Tampa or in Chicago because they are the original ones. The other ones tend to skimp on some stuff.

Jenny,

We were in Lisle. It has been about 20 years since I was there. It sure has changed.

How old are your daughters again? I'm guessing 4 & 8??? My daycare kids loved the new children's garden. But, the little ones didn't have much to do there. I would say it's definately geared towards the 2-6 year old age group. I'm not sure Cameron at 11 would get much out of it and probably would be bored silly in no time.

They have they stepping stones (kind of like Brookfield Zoo, if you've been in the children's zoo there), where the kids can walk on the stones surrounded by water. As we were leaving, several children were playing in the pond areas -- soaking wet. If you go, make sure to take a change of clothes as they would need it on a nice day.

They have play areas -- wooden structures with these bridges connecting one piece to the other. Planks of wood, attached together with ropes. The kids loved playing on those.

The only thing that was hard was pushing the stroller. Not all areas are paved. As we were leaving, I made the mistake of saying, let's go through the maze. It was huge! We couldn't find our way out of it....which normally wouldn't have been a bad thing. But, I was pushing the double stroller with both kids in it through the gravel area. It was not easy strolling. Between the kids and the stroller, I'm sure it's at least 60#'s, if not more. But, I think you are beyond the stroller years.

Thanks Cindy! We got something in the mail recenetly and it looked like a lot had changed since we were last there. I thought it would be a nice fall activity for us. Morgan will be 8 in January and Allie will be 4 in February. Good call on their ages! We were also considering Boo at the Zoo. We always enjoy Brookfield Zoo!

Hey, my sister does the same thing to me! When you moved to Florida did you have to sign something that said you will now call all your northern relatives and let them know how nice it is? :rotfl:

Our day will get here - just not soon enough! I have tried my best to talk John into moving down there. He owns his own business and probably wouldn't have too much trouble getting work down there - but for some reason he won't move.

We take the girls ALL the time. I would say that we go several times a month. We just LOVE Hooters!! Great food!! They just built one right by our house, almost a little too close. The original one is about 15 minutes away from us. We just noticed that some things are a little bit different from the ones that are run by the "original" Hooters team. Overall, we like them all, but we LOVE the ones that are here in the Tampa area.

Those girls might be nice to look at (well for you anyways), but do they know where Anchorage is? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I think so!! I actually started out going to college here, so I was SO excited after Christmas break that I used to go back to FL, and they all had to stay in the snow. What's funny is that they all moved here at different times, but only my mom stayed. My brother moved back to IL and my sister's DH joined the Navy, so they are in VA.

We've noticed that Hooters tends to be more "accepted" here in the Tampa/Clearwater area. It is a total family place. We see families, couples, young, old, it really doesn't matter. But, I do know that when we were still living in Chicago that there was quite a stink when Hooters opened in Schaumburg. It took my SIL quite a while to actually go to a Hooters, because she thought it was just a "guys" place. But, we took her while she was down here visiting, and now she loves it!!

Must be, because MIL tells us all the time "it's sunny and 80 here today and we took a walk but it was kinda hot!"
