Sept 4-8 2005 Wonder S.S. Member Cruise! Part 2

Our Dillons Supermarket (Kroger) has quite a few of the Mickey folders in about 4 or5 colors and designs. I don't know if they had 3-ring notebooks or spiral notepads. They had back-to-school supplies in their promo aisle. I don't know which states have Krogers, but thought I would pass along that info. I thought I would check our local Office Max tomorow. Will leet you all know what I find. Surely they're not all on ebay!

BTW, you guys have to slow down the chatting! All the time I've spent catching up on reading the posts, I could have had my door magnets done by now! Not to mention pirate outfits made!

We are staying at BWV the night before the cruise, and VWL two nights after the cruise. Can't decide whether to go with ME and DCL shuttle or rent a car. Guess it will depend on how low the rental price goes before then. DH wants to go with Disney transportation this trip. We ALWAYS rent a car so he wants to see what Disney trans is like. Anyone still hearing about problems with ME or do they have the bugs worked out by now?

CapnHook, I think my DH will dress up if I can pull myself away from the computer long enough to put something together.

Not much time with working full time, not to mention a trip to Colorado Springs next week (our annual trip to the beautiful Broadmoor). So I'm going to try to enjoy myself and not give too much thought to how I'm going to get everything done before the cruise!

I'm really hoping that Dee Vee Cee and Sara Toga will be on the cruise. Looking forward to a moonlit stroll on Deck 10. :love1:

Oh dear - I don't know how to tell you this. Unfortunately, it doesn't look good for Dee Vee Cee. She wasn't able to get through to Member Services on the day reservations were first accepted last October. Her cell phone battery died and the ship was sold out before she could get to a regular telephone. She is, however, on the waiting list and, like many others, is hoping to get a phone call from Member Services saying that because someone else canceled, she can go.

I don't know if her friend Sara got through or not. We'll just have to wait and see. If not I'm sure there is someone else you can stroll deck 10 with.

Isn't it amazing what people will sell on eBay?!?! At least we know what they really cost. I'm not willing to pay that much for folders and notebooks.

Amy - I totally agree. eBay has its place and i have bought from there, but there are some people who just care about the money. I've found the pin people to be really bad. We are pin collectors, not really traders though I will do a trade with a friend nor or then. We like to have pins to celebrate our trips etc.

A few years ago we happened to be at Disney's California Adventure on its first birthday. So of course I wanted a pin to celebrate. Well we managed to find one cart where the line wasn't too long and spent the next 1/2 hour in line behind a number of pin sharks who had taken the day off work to be here to get these pins. They were discussing how much they were going to sell it for, how much profit they could make, etc. Someone next to them asked if they were keeping one for themselves and the answer was heck no - I'm just in it for the money. Nice!

Things like these notebooks and folders - that isn't helping people. It is just taking advantage of them. Same with the people who snatch up the free luggage takes and sell them, or people who sell their navigators after a cruise. I'd much rather help out a fellow cruiser and pass those items along for free then to try and make a buck doing it. Guess I'll never be rich!

Gail - to answer your question on the countdown timers. Tried to go to the site this morning and it says that they have exceeded bandwidth. Opps! May be a while until we see them :)

Don't forget that Mark has a timer up on the website!

Good Morning!!
It looks like it will be a nice day in Upstate NY. (Just some rain to water my flowers for me!!)

Mary - I think I may be blink, stomping right next to you. I got my blinkies and I think they need a little breaking in to get syncronized!

I might have to make a stop back at my local Office Max for the Disney folders and binders.
I did see some very cute Princess folders at Walmart last night. That might be a good fall back spot. I'll have to see if Diana Lyn scoops up all the Disney inventory from my Office Max on me. (just Kidding :p )

Just for the record I was talking about Gail based on this post.

My right one does the same thing. If I stomp my foot it lights. Oh great there will be me on deck.................step, stomp, step, stomp, step, stomp - hope I don't spill my drink trying to concentrate on my shoes.

We probably got them at the same Wal-Mart and they sold the defective right flip flop!
Handsome as CapnHook is I think there would be two people who wouldn't be happy if he and I went for a romantic stroll on deck 10. ;)

Gail is trying to talk me into a Pirate costume. Being on the shy side, I'm worried that I may be too embarrassed to pull it off.
How many other men are dressing up for Pirate Night?
With a disname like CapnHook, you should WANT to dress up. Anyway, my DH, Chris, said that he will dress up. But, he is far from being shy in any way, shape or form. However, he did say that he is not wearing a big costume. He just wants to look like a swabbie, kinda just a pair of raggedy black pants, either a white or red/white striped pants, eye patch or hat. That kind of thing. He's not going all out wearing Capt Hook or anything. Go for it, it'll be fun!!!

Oooohhh, I LOVE the Broadmoor. DH won a trip with his company to the Broadmoor. What a beautiful place!! How lucky that you get to go every year!?!?! We just loved Colorado. DH has family outside of Denver, so we're hoping to go back sometime soon. I'd love to take the girls to see the mountains (since it's so flat here in FL).

Mona, can't help with the ME question. When we went down in June we had a rental car as Mark needed it for work. We did see lots and lots of ME busses running around and never heard anyone complaining while we were there so it seemed to be working ok.

The Broadmoor looks wonderful. I think the Great Hotel episode about it was just on this past weekend. I love that show!

Enjoy and don't worry about planning too much. I'm trying to leave lots of open time for what DVC and DCL might have planned for us.

Me too, I love Great Hotels. I think the girl is a little goofy, but I love the show. I've seen the one on the Broadmoor, and I was surprised by all the things that I didn't see when we were there. That's ok, just means I need to go back. However, the highlight of the trip was going horseback riding in the mountains. What a COOL ride!!!

Yeah Samantha Brown is a little goofy, but what a great job. Getting to check out all these hotels! That show is one of our Sunday morning staples.

Mary, did this info come from you "batphone" to DVC? Where in the world do you get this stuff!! :rotfl:

Personally, I'll be happy if we leave them both ashore! For fear they may be tossed overboard by a crazed women loaded with konk koolers wearing blinkie flip flops! (Now, I'm not saying that would be me, because it seems like 15 of you out there would fit the same description! Just working on my alibi!!)

Diana - just teasing John - no real info.

Just for the record I won't be loaded with konk koolers while wearing my blinkies - because I don't drink. :rotfl: Doesn't mean i can't have fun - just means I don't drink. Of course someone has to be the one to record these memories for blackmail - I mean history. :)

Darn--I thought you had some real info and just embellished the story!

And now really, how loaded do you think I could possibly get when I have to take care of two little kids! :rotfl2: Well, not loaded enough to push those nice ladies overboard! :rolleyes1 I'll be right with you most of the time drinking those virgin konk koolers. I'm thinking with this group, alcohol won't be needed to be entertained! Or will the entertainment be everyone who does indulge in the alcohol?

I really like Samantha Brown as the host, but I feel bad she has to travel alone all the time. Her shows could be one big commerical for Match.com :teeth:

DBF will be in a Pirates of The Caribbean Tee Shirt (crossing my fingers, he knows we're packing it, but has not definitely commited. I'm working on it.)

Those of you hunting for the binders and folders keep me posted.

If Dee Vee does show up I bet she'll be in Blinkies! I did the Osborne Lights walk through at MGM this past December and they had street performers (i.e. a nyc cop, etc.). Sitting in front of the brownstone appartments on a beach chair was this loud screechy voiced woman...decked in x-mas attire (and she was BLINKING, strung up w/ lights like a x-mas tree) pretending to be flirting with the cop. I heard the voice, stopped dead in my tracks and turned and said "DEE VEE CEE." She didn't acknowledge it (didn't want to blow her cover I guess) but my aunt and sister were w/ me (who were also at member homecoming with me) and they confirmed it too! So I guess Disney keeps her real busy. Personally I like her a lot

I think that you're right, Diana. This group won't need drinks to keep us giggling. Just give us some malfunctioning blinkies and we'll be having fun!!!

Ugh this and the fact the folders here are buy 2 get 1 free. I went to the office max on my way home and had the pick of the folders and notebooks but NO binders. Salesguy said they've had a run on them and 30 minutes before there were 5 or 6 of them. I am going to try some tomorrow if I have time - has anyone seen a blue binder with mickey walking to the right alone? That is what goes with my set :rolleyes1

I couldn't find the blue binder with just mickey walking. My office max had a ton of folders yesterday afternoon, but few spiral notebooks. They had yellow binders like were posted earlier and greenish ones with mickey's head surrounded by question marks in bubbles. There was a blue one with a mickey logo of another type. If anyone needs binders or folders I can go back, but I can't promise anything on the notebooks. Just let me know and I will try to check my pm's at lunch and stop after work.

Hi Everyone! :wave2:

Just thought I would pop in and say hi to the group. I haven't been on in awhile, however I am somewhat up to speed - at least with a few running topics. There are times when my DW (#1Mouse) is laughing hysterically :rotfl2: and other times when she calls me to the computer to follow some particular topic.

My 2 cents.
-I WILL NOT be wearing blinking flip-flops.
-I'm soon to be the proud owner of our very own fish extender.
-We have our set of Binders and Folders.

Gail is trying to talk me into a Pirate costume. Being on the shy side, I'm worried that I may be too embarrassed to pull it off.

Yanno, now I gotta make you a new button. :p

I'm not wearing any blinking flip flops either.

SHY?? YOU???? :rotfl:

This is how shy. On the last member cruise Mary and I took these two on a tour of Atlantis. You get these wristbands that allow you to walk around the public parts of the resort freely. Well, shutterbug John here wanted a better picture of the outdoor area. So he proceeeds to waltz right into the tower like he belongs there and goes up to get a better camera angle.

Here's how shy he is. There he is in the inset getting set to take pics.
johntower.jpg

And darn straight I got a whole outfit, right down to a 'nice hat' as Cap'n Jack says to Will at the end of the movie. And you will too. pirate:
