Sept. 30, 2006 -- Eastern Magic

Welcome, Dawn! A party of 18! Wow! I wouldn't want to be the one coordinating all of that! Glad you joined our little group! Deanna

As far as coordinating I told everyone how I went about making my reservation and then they did their own, we are spread out on the ship as everyone wanted a different category. This is my second cruise, the first was in December 2003. Looking forward to doing it again. It was so much fun.

I know this is early...but would anyone be up for getting lime green shirts?? We had them on the Oct 29th and it made the terminal and sailaway super fun!!

On our last cruise, a DIS member kb1esx made t-shirts for us. It cost around $12 or something. It was good to be able to spot others! I love the idea. But I'm not commiting a yes until I know for sure that RCCL won't entice me away from the Magic!

Dawn- I'm glad you aren't in charge of everyone! That would be a bit stressful!

It's snowing in Kansas. Where is that tropical weather?!

I like the idea of lime green shirts, I have ordered disney shirts for our party of 18 but I dont' know when we will where them yet, I could ask everyone if they would be interested in ordering. Sounds like a lot of fun to spot other DIS cruisers. :cheer2:

Shirts are always a great idea. Have done that on almost all of my previous cruises and it is so fun!
Hope everyone has a great holiday and those of you in the colder areas of the country, be safe and don't freeze.... :cold:

bumping up! Hope everyone had a nice holiday!! Happy New Year (early!) :flower:

Hi everyone :wave2: , I just booked for the Sept. 30th cruise. I will be going with my 11 year old son and in another cabin my aunt and uncle. This will be our first Disney cruise.
Any other boys around that age? I thought it would make my son feel better if he could expect to meet someone there.

:sunny: Hi Shell0616 ..... Glad to see you are joining all of us... ! My son will be 10 years old when we cruise.. The boys will be in the same age group at the Oceanear Lab... ages 10-12.....My son loves it there.. this cruise will be his 9th cruise... (very addicting.. be warned.. lol ) ;)
Happy New Year .. to all... Best of Health :wizard:

Hi Stacey and Everyone,
9 cruises! Lucky you! We have done Disneyland 7 times, Disney World twice and Disneyland Paris once. I am always planning my next Disney Trip. I'm obsessing about this cruise..... but in a good way because I am so excited!
It seems like a lot of you know each other from past cruises. That should make this one a lot of fun for you.

I do have a booking questions for anyone who could help. ...We booked one inside Cat 12 for myself and my son and one Cat 6 for my aunt and uncle. Would it have been cheaper to tell them that my son will be staying in the other cabin? He would then be the 3rd person and be charged a cheaper rate. Or would I just be charged a large single supplement that would even it out in the end?

Thanks and I hope to see you all there!

Hi Shell0616!

As far as your question goes - I don't know the exact answer, but I do know that they will charge you a higher fare if you are the only one booked in your cabin. I forget what % they increase it. Maybe you could call Disney cruise line and ask them, but I am pretty sure it would be better going 2 in each room. Sorry I don't know anything specific!! I know that you all will have a great time, it is so much fun!!! :sunny:

Shell:

I would call DCL for the cost of the single person in stateroom premium /having him booked with Aunt/Uncle and compare to the cost of having your child booked with you in stateroom....

Thanks, I had gotten a quote from Dreams Unlimited but they were more. I think I will call them again tomorrow. I really reseached a lot but I didn't think of this until after I booked.

Ya know, I love the planning almost as much as I love the vacation. I am so addicted to Disney that my friends and family tease me about it!

Happy New Year! At least I can stop saying my cruise is "next year"! Hehe

We took my MIL last September. We had booked the year before while on board. She was in a room by herself and the cost for a Catgegory 6 was almost $2,700. (It was $3,400 for my family of four with kids ages 7 and 11).

I hope that helps!

I am not booked yet, but hopefully will be by the end of the month on this September 30th cruise. I am a single mom with a 7-year old DD. She will actually be turning 8 on the cruise, so we will have a birthday bash for her. The first couple days she will be seven, so I was wondering how that works. Will they make her go in the 3-7 year old club until she has her actual birthday? I'm so afraid she will be bored if they do that.

Any input will be appreciated! Neither of us has been on a cruise before, I thought this would be a great birthday present for her!

:earsgirl:

Hi, Disneymom!!

Glad you made it over here! :) I am sure there will be no problem having her in the age 8 and up Club!! If you register her online, you will probably have to do the 3-7 group, but when you take her there on the ship I'm sure they'll say she can be in the older group. They are really good about that.

You all will have a blast!!

Thanks, that's what I was hoping for. We plan on pal-ing around together as well, so one day is not going to kill her LOL.

Does anyone know if there are other single parents coming on board? We both are pretty outgoing, so not really worried about it. I just don't want to stick out like a sore thumb! I am told that there will be PLENTY (if not too much) for both of us to do! :earsgirl:

There will be TOO MUCH for you all to do!! Seriously, the first time I nearly drove myself crazy trying to fit everything in! :teeth: On the second trip, I toned it down alot and just had so much more fun. Hang out at the pool together, watch a movie in the theater(not that we every got that done), go to the family activities, play ping pong, order room service, walk the decks, explore the ship, shop at the gift shops, go to the shows, order some more room service, play bingo, while your daughter is at the club - go to the spa, go the character meetings - you will have so much fun!

Please don't worry about sticking out like a sore thumb. On our last cruise, there was a single mom with 2 boys that we met on our DIS cruise meets thread. They had such a blast!!!! A bunch of us ended up hooking up and going on a couple of excursions together on port days, we ate dinner together each night - it was great for everyone! :goodvibes
