Sept. 30, 2006 -- Eastern Magic

Howdy Alfredo! We were also on the same cruise. I'm glad your child enjoyed the clubs, because I haven't heard anyone else talk too positively about their experiences there! Sorry we didn't get to meet you on the last cruise!

Before our last cruise, I got to meet B&J's mom. It was a great time! I would encourage anyone to do it that live close to each other.

We also have a daughter 8 who will be 9 at the time of sailing. Maybe they should be pen pals!

Have a great day! Deanna

Just dropping in to say Hi!

We are leaving next week for WDW and MNSSHP - our first time for this event.

Anyone else sailing also a DVC member?

Deanna: Sorry to hear about your Grandmother. Hope things are getting back to normal for you.

Julie: My wife thinks it may have been Christine that we sat by the first night. Thanks for the info on your other cruise experiences. I almost booked the 4 day wonder for the two of us but guilt set in. We found a really good deal on the Costa Magica ship sailing over Spring break. It is a new ship (2004) and only sailed in Italy so far. They have a special right now in which kids sail free. We managed to book a week over spring break for 4 people for under $2000 including trip insurance. My expectations will not be that of Disney, so hopefully with that in mind we will enjoy it.

DisneyMom&Fan: If your husband enjoys the parks, he is going to love the Cruise. I found the cruise to be far more relaxing...At then end of the week just as exhausting (LOL).

Tammy: I was told that you have to wait to request a waiter when you board the ship. We enjoyed both of our waiters and if they are not teamed together then we will have to make a choice. Also, if we link our reservations with Alfredo, we might have to draw straws since he had a different waiter. As much as we go to WDW we should be DVC members. We did rent some points this past cruise and stayed at BWV. Very nice!!

Alfredo: I’m glad you joined up. Now if we can just get our wife’s to start chatting for us (LOL). Can't wait to kick back at Castaway Cay and drink a “Bahama Mama” with you.

Wow, not bad for an introvert Engineer.

Take Care,

Jeff

Jeff - Look at you! You are soon going to be a crazed computer extrovert like me!

Your deal you got on your spring break sailing sounds awesome!! I agree, the guilt of going on a Disney cruise without my kids wouldn't fly around here either! Sounds like you all are going to have an amazing time. The price is certainly right. I want to hear all about it when you get back, ok?? I like to hear reviews of other cruise lines as well.

Oh my Gosh!!! I can’t believe I’m doing this but I am bumping this thread. I am starting to get worried about you ladies. Either I have offended you or you are losing interest in our cruise.

These forums are funny. You get an email notification every time someone responds to a thread your in. I then have to log in and see what was said. For some reason I now have to see the new post and like I am an expert after one cruise, I end posting to something new. Pretty soon it is like when I used to get a rabbit at Easter...They just keep multiplying.

Alfredo, do your self a favor. DO NOT venture out of this thread or, as Julie said, you will end up a “computer crazed extrovert” like her.

Sooner - Congratulations! Was that your first bump?!? Woo-Hoo!

Sometimes I post on a thread just so I can get email. Hee, hee. Just kidding....kind of. :teeth:

I don't know anything about Eastern ports, I guess I should get to studying them. Does anyone already know what they are doing on the port days?

Adios, amigos!

We haven't decided if we will do DCL excursions or just go out on our own. I wanted to snorkel at Trunk Bay, but DS isn't that great of a swimmer, so we will have to do something directly from the beach, not from a boat. We've also thought about renting a jeep at St. Maarteen. :moped: But, on Castaway Cay, we plan on parasailing and swimming with the stingrays.

Hopefully I'll have my home computer back up and running this weekend, although it may not be until next week sometime. Boy, have I been missing these boards. :teeth:

Sooner -- I'm glad you're an expert. ;) I'm not losing interest -- just the opposite -- I can hardly wait and I'm addicted to these boards (like most of us here). Maybe you can shed some light on whether to do excursions thru DCL or on our own???

Jeff, my good amigo extrovertido... :cool1:
Isabella says that she would love to hear from Kalsey. She has very nice Castaway memories with her. She wants a "play date". Do you want to meet half-way?
Deanna: What's your daughter's name?
Regarding Eastern ports, St. Thomas has http://www.godfreytoursvi.com For $20.00 for the day, he will give a great tour of the island. He is highly recommended by my travel agent. She had a wonderful time, (she says she doesn't get commission on those tours) I will find out more on other ports later on...
I have come to realize that people that go on the Disney Cruise have to understand that you will not be able to do EVERYTHING! You must be OK with a decision to miss something like a show or a dinner one night. (Even a port) The main purpose, for me anyway, is to go and have some great quality time with the family, as well as having some time alone to be with your significant other without the guilt, since our daughter is having a wonderful time with new friends in a safe and fun environment . Perhaps some kids would love to go to the great labs and activities designed specifically for them but, they make a decision: "I want to be with my parents!" See my point?
Anyway, as we count the months and the days to meet at the Disney Magic let's send a positive thought to the people of Cayman and Cozumel in this new challenge with Wilma.
Talk to you soon,
Alfredo:wave:

Alfredo: "extrovertido" I think that is Spanish for extrovert. Right? This forum will do it to you. If you would like to meet me half way, say ft Lauderdale in March I will splurge for some nice tropical drinks as we sail into the sunset!!!

Julie: Yes, indeed that was my first bump. I used to be content being a soccer dad now I am bumping a cruise thread. When my wife finally finds this thread, she is going to suspect that something really is in that "pixie dust".

DisneyMom&Fan: I really do not consider myself an expert. I think Julie is the seasoned cruiser in our group. Having said that, here I go, I have not checked on the eastern ports other than what Alfredo had forwarded me. We went on our own the last cruise. We rented a jeep in the Cayman's and drove out to Rum Point Beach. It was amazing. We got to see pretty much the whole island and saw a lot of hurricane Ivan damage along the way. If I can save money doing it on my own, then I am all for it.

Take Care,

Jeff

Alfredo - You are right. You cannot do everything you want to do on a Disney cruise. Just ask Deanna what happens if you try! :faint: I think we only went to 4 of the 7 shows on the Magic last time. It was nice to not have to rush to find a seat, we just did other stuff and had a great time. One thing I don't want to miss is dinner each night, I loved that, especially dining with fellow DISers. It really made the trip fun! :grouphug:

DisneyMom&Fan - Your port activities sound fun! I had never been snorkeling until last month in Grand Cayman and can I just say "WOW!" It was really amazing. Then I did it again at Castaway Cay, not nearly as exciting. I am kind of in the same boat as you are. My daughter couldn't swim well and ended up on the boat for most of our snorkeling excursion in Grand Cayman. She was scared go out there and couldn't hold her in that deep water and help her.

Sooner - the Cayman excursion you did sounds fun!

Cujobugs - Have you left us for good?!?!? :confused3

Wow! First off, congratulations on your soon to be 3rd baby! I love it!

Your 9th Disney Cruise, that's wonderful! :sunny:

Good to meet you, talk with you soon.

Hi Stacey. I second the congratulations. I also hope everything goes well with the Hurricane that is heading your way. Hopefully, it will pass by with little damage. I look forward to hearing about all of your experiences with the eastern ports. We found WDW to be very addicting and now that we have our first cruise down, look out. It's going to be hard to get me to do something different.

Tammy- I hope you are having a fabulous time at Disney! We are jealous!

No, you haven't lost me for good. We almost switched the date of our cruise. So I didn't want to keep typing on here if I was just going to say "see ya" and move on to another cruise meet. So as for now, we are still on this cruise!

Alfredo- daughter's name is Carissa. I really need to find her a chat friend because she won't have anyone she knows in the groups with her!

My travel agent told me that Cozumel has no cruise docs after Wilma went through. So it is undetermined when Disney will be able to return there.

Julie- does that mean we were the last Disney cruise to that port? Or was there one after us after dry dock?

I feel sorry for the people that rely on the cruise ship business for their money. So very sad.

See ya. Deanna

Deanna - I don't know if a sailing went there after dry dock or not. It seems like they would have. I loved, loved, loved Cozumel (and grand cayman and key west!). It is beautiful. Let's hope ships can make it back soon.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Julie! I had a great time! And I got a $100 gift to be used at the Disney spa. Hmmm. Wonder what I'll choose? How about the Rasul!?

Deanna

Hi, everyone! Just checking in to say hello.

I hope everyone has a happy halloween! Luckily I've talked my children into being pirates since we purchased those outfits for the pirate party on the cruise!

We're being lazy here today and I love it!
