Sept. 26, 2009 Magic

My whole family got their docs on friday. Yay!! I was so excited that I scared dh b/c I was screaming so much. He thought something was wrong with Bailey.

Yall were busy over labor day. I come home to find tons to read. We went away for the first time. My whole family went to the north ga mountains. Bailey did great. He loved all the attention and slept so good in his pack-n-play. The ride up was good since he was already asleep when we left. The ride home not so good. Really hope we make it to orlando without the excessive screaming.

Fourgonefishn - Congrats on your dw getting the all clear. What type of cancer did she have? My sister had hodkgins. Her 4 year mark of having a cord blood transplant is Nov. 1st. We were all going to celebrate on a cruise at the 1 year mark but she got sick just weeks before and couldn't go. So this is our crusie that was suppose to be 3 years ago.

We also got our cruise documents today. Glad to finally have something else to check off my list. :thumbsup2

Guys, 10,9,8,7...UPS Truck parks in front of my house at 6:30pm. I peak out like a little kid, he is coming toward my house. Slip on a Tshirt, open the door and he hands me out a Disney envelope. He did look all serious! Yay, the DOCs finally arrived to Ohio> Paul, did u get yours yet?

Can't wait. I am still re-adjusting clothes in my packing cubes. Ana, did you get yours yet?

thats 2 in ohio that got theirs, need to hear of MI getting theirs

I'm thinking of buying a set. Which ones should I buy? I don't know how I'm packing yet and I don't want to measure my suitcases. Should I just buy a variety/value pack?

Buy a variety pack, meaning 1 Lg,Med,Small and 3 Skinny, Total of 6. I also bought another set of same 1st combo for carry-on which will consist of clothes for Sat only(bathing, day dress, evening attire).

So, now I have to share how my morning went with telling Ansley's teacher about our vacation. First off, I got up at 6:30 this morning and agonized over a letter to her principal. I actually think I mastered the firm - yet humbled - approach. :rotfl: So, I walked into Ansley's teacher's class and proceeded to tell her that we were taking Ansley out of school for a week to go on vacation. I seriously could have hugged her when she asked me if I was going to Disney, and when I told her it was a Disney cruise, she seemed excited for us. She told me that, as parent, she totally understands and would do the same, and she also informed me of what I should expect in terms of repercussions from the school. The attendance policy really isn't as bad as the school policies make it sound. Essentially, I'll get a letter from the school, and a referral to the counselor and the principal (which I think is more for unexplained absences). However, because we gave the principal a written notice, I guess we'll just be "on warning" for the rest of the year. I don't much care about what the school thinks of me, and I'm relieved that her teacher seems cool with it. I wish I would have told her sooner now...I've been so worried!! :upsidedow

Glad everything went well with Ansley's teacher! Such a big weight lifted off your shoulders, huh? :thumbsup2

For the people that are flying in the night before the cruise & staying at a non-Disney hotel, is anyone using Disney transportation to get to the port? If so, how? Are you going back to the airport to catch the bus?

We are staying at the Dolphin, but we're driving to the port. We live in FL, so we'll have our own car to drive.

Am I way behind or does everyone know that the new DCL site has the menus

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/magic/dining/lumieres/menu/

Had no idea! Thanks for the heads up, I'll check it out!

GRRRR...THE DOCS have crossed an ocean and made it to Jacq already. How is it that we in Pennsylvania have yet to get anything. GRRRR again. Just want to get them and get them safely put away.

Packing cubes: mine shipped today. So they should be here by weeks end. I got two colors with 3 variety sizes and I got one flatten your bottles/accessories one that looks like it makes it easier to pack like bathroom stuff and then fit into luggage really easily.

You should see the pile of "to be packed" stuff in the corner on the floor of my bedroom. Can't wait to finish packing and reclaim the space in front of my closet. I just bought another new carry-on that was basically outfitted with packing cubes inside. It was a neat set up. They didn't come out, but there were all sorts of sections. If anyone is looking for inexpensive name brand luggage...TJ Maxx is awesome!! I've gotten the nicest pieces from them for next to nothing.

Not yet:sad2: I'm hoping some time this week. Mine go to my T/A, AAA. She calls me when they get them and I go pick them up.

Let me start by saying my wife can't wait to see your Bailey! She is a survivor of AML acute mylogenus lukemia. (sorry if spelled wrong) We had planned on wdw before all this happened 2 years ago then cancelled and let down the boys(I think myself more ) It's been a long road and I don't want to be on this ride anymore! I love my wife dearly and wouldn't be right without her:hug::love:. She's a good strong woman, and it takes a lot to understand what people go through and how they say if something else happens .... well lets not go there. This trip is for her!!!
On a lighter note: FATCAT if you get up and leave your seat at the pool ...I can promise that yoou will be at least 4 drinks lighter when you return. Ummm If not empty!:scared1:
Also We got our doc's today from TA. We are doing the:banana::cool1::banana::cool1::dance3: happy dance!pirate:

Nighttime Meetup -Did we decide if we were going to meet in one of the clubs one night on the cruise?

I (and DH by default) are good for this! :thumbsup2 Hopefully we can even do it more than once. I am hoping for a decent amount of "grown-up" time on this cruise. We will have to look at the navigators a little closer to make more concrete plans i guess. DH and I gravitate toward comedy and music. I like to dance :dancer:but DH will need quite a bit of help from the bar:drinking1 to join me :rotfl:

Sounds like you are doing great with the home work for Corbin. Consider it signed, no problem. Heck, we can even teach him some Dutch. We'll show teacher and principal why DCL is educational. :rotfl:

jacq: i hope our DD and DS can take you up on this too :cutie: They will be the coolest in school!

DW got great news today as she went to DR.'s appt. and he said your clear to go on vaca! Come Oct, 2 years cancer free~! Got all her shots and is ready to go.
fourgonefishn

So happy for you!:hug: :cloud9: DD5 is going to have her scans Thursday 9/10 so we are hoping for the same good news by Friday. If all goes well she will be 15 months cancer free! :dogdance: Seems like we have some really good reasons to be celebrating on this cruise :jumping1:

Sorry for the vent...just needed to tell y'all, feel like you are part of my family. :grouphug::

No apology needed. :grouphug: Just glad you know you have a place where people will understand and hear you and send good vibes :goodvibes I know what you mean about the airplane stress: DS8 put up a BIG fight on an airplane once and I came home looking like a battered wife  It is very stressful thinking about how upset other people might get. But I know I am not the only one who admires you for your patience and strength so I know you can make this all work out!

If you want me to email you a copy of the "Journal" I made so Ansley has a little something extra to do while away and may get her some extra brownie points, let me know! ;)

If you don't mind :flower3: I would LOVE to have a copy of your 'journal' for my DD5. We will have a great time discovering together and I think it will be a great gesture for the teachers (esp considering how much DD5 has been out of school for doc appts lately: dentist, orthopedic, cancer scans, orthopedic...:sad2:)

I have two Disney "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" costumes that are new in package. One is a size 7/8, and the other a 10/12. I paid about $70 for them including shipping. I am willing to give them up for $20/each if anyone wants them.

Please PM me if you are interested, and we can make arrangements there. Also I can give more information about them if need be.:thumbsup2

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend!:goodvibes

My DS8 would love to have the size 7/8 if you are still giving it up. I will PM you. pirate:

:Well I survived the wedding and it was BEAUTIFUL!!!! Everything was just about perfect. The only thing I know of that got messed up was the pre-recorded music during the candle lighting and when the family was being seated.....the CD played just fine during rehearsal but decided to mess up during the ceremony. Thank goodness our sound man quickly thought to just keep hitting repeat...it was obvious that something was wrong but we all continued on and it turned out great.

My niece from Florida caught the bouquet....kinda planned it that way ....and then during all the craziness of cleaning up my mom ended up accidently giving her Leissa's bouquet thinking it was the one she had caught and now it is in Florida!! Thank goodness we will be seeing them on Sept 25 and will get it back. So now Leissa will be wearing her Bride Mickey Ears and also have her bouquet on the cruise! She will not be hard to miss!!! :bride:

Another good thing is that I got my FE in the mail yesterday....found it in the mailbox today. YAY!!! Still no DOCS tho....maybe I will get them Tuesday!

Sounds like a great time! I remeber what it was like: planning my wedding was all-consuming, and wedding day was actually a little stressful waiting for something to go wrong. In my case, the cake almost fell on the floor. At least you got the music mess-up out of the way early on and the rest was all fun! :bride: I know you are so excited for Leissa and we can't wait to meet everyone.

I've been sick for 4 months & finally found out that I have a massive sinus thing going on & need surgery. Sucks because the soonest he can do it is 9/17, so I'm cutting it close to vacation, but I'm really hoping that this will solve my problems so I'll feel good again - just in time for Mickey's boat!!!

Glad you found a solution to being sick for so long but: :scared1: for having to have surgery - and so close to the cruise! We will send wishes and pixie dust you way! pixiedust:

Keith!!! Great to hear from you! So sorry you couldn't find a way to make it. Love the new tats!! You grandkids r going to love you!!!

I second that! Great to hear from you Keith! We will miss you on the ship! Great new tats - how many more arms and legs do you hae left to decorate?

We got our cruise docs last friday! :dance3: Seeing luggage tags seems to make it more real - and reminds me I have to start packing. Only about 2 weeks to go and with all we have to do it should fly by.

Crystal, good to hear all went well with telling Ansleys teacher. And oh well, one benefit of having to go through all those hoops is they now have you on a watch. Their picture of you can only improve, not get worse. No need to even think about how they might see you, it can only go up. :rotfl:

jacq: i hope our DD and DS can take you up on this too :cutie: They will be the coolest in school!

Of course they can. Let them come up with what they want to know and we'll get them there. :thumbsup2

That's DCL (or anything Disney, if you ask me) for you! No rhyme or reason what so ever. :headache:

The people running the excursion have messed up my reservation. :headache: They claim that I booked the wrong date. I showed them proof in the form of a confirmation email from them that I did indeed book the correct date; but they refuse to accept this proof. :confused3 The did correct the problem but said that we cannot go with the 9am group now and must go at 11:40am or cancel. So...

Has this happened to anyone else?

  • Who is in the 8:40a group?
  • Who is in the 11:40a group?

We are thinking about cancelling but if there are a bunch of you in the second group we may stay. Let me know asap. Thanks guys!

Update: I lost my battle with these people. They were nice but firm and offered to accept a cancellation so I decided to stick with it and just go on the 11:40am group. Anyone else going with the 11:40am group?

Not yet:sad2: I'm hoping some time this week. Mine go to my T/A, AAA.

No docs in Columbus, either!:confused3 But I'm not worried, Disney has yet to let us down! :thumbsup2

We are up for the adult evenings as well! It should be a blast to hang out sans kiddos!!!:cool1:

Sending good vibes and wishes regarding dd's scan!!!:littleangel:pixiedust: That is definately something to celebrate!!!:thumbsup2

My DS8 would love to have the size 7/8 if you are still giving it up. I will PM you. pirate:

It is still available, and it is yours!!!pirate: I'll pack it, and we can figure out just when you would like to meet up to get it!

The size 10/12 Captain Jack Sparrow costume is still available for anyone who might want it. Just PM me for details!

Oh and a big fat major :cool1::worship::yay::dance3::cheer2: , we finally got to the single digits count down!:woohoo:

WooHoo to you!!!!

Maybe we should set up a classroom on the magic, and you can teach all of the schoolchildren a lesson????? =) Just don't be teaching them any cuss words so they can cuss me out and I don't know about it. :lmao: It's bad enough that my hearing is as poor as it is, I know sign language--but it isn't helpful much to most! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Oh, but that can be a good thing that not too many folks know sign language. We used it to cheat on exams in high-school. :rolleyes1

Teaching? Classroom? Are you guys sure we're still talking about the same relaxing cruise as we started out with?:lmao::rotfl2: I promis not to teach any bad language. But besides that?.............. :littleangel:

I can't believe how busy things are overhere. Both volunteer work jobs somehow have a busy rush at the moment. On the one hand we've got a major theater production performing in our venue. Fun for the kids as it's a beloved TV-show, but I'm 'blessed' with a phone ringing at all hours for the reservations. :upsidedow

And somehow on the other hand, I've managed to get myself into a situation where I need to write about 4 major advisory reports before our trip begins. Besides that, we've decided to come up with a 'shadow'-policy. Best way to improve some stuff, but it's soo much work to write such a piece. And of course, right now our council has decided to not only not delay -like they normally do- but go ahead full steam. Somehow they are about to take some of the most major decisions of the last decade within about 3 months. :scared1::confused: Basically, by the time it's november I''ll need a second cruise to relax again. :rotfl2:
