I am feeling incredibly stupid tonight, but I don't understand the games. How do you play the magnet game? I apologize. And if we do the ornament thing, each person buys one ornament and then gives it to someone? How is it decided who gets what ornament? I don't want anyone arguing over the exotic Kansas ones. :earboy2: And explain the brown bag game to me again. I am slooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwww in my noggin tonight.

Erin - I scanned the pictures, but it is taking me forever to download them. I have one downloaded so far. I have dial up. :rolleyes2

When you open the book, this is the first page. More later!

Nevermind! I re-read the posts from Deanna again and now I get it. I like the magnet game and the ornament exchange for sure, but I am up for anything!

I like the meeting in the terminal too. I think once I am on the ship, I am going to be feeling too overwhelmed to do much of anything else. :earseek: I know for myself, I will be itching to get settled and unpack and then get myself oriented. What time do they let you on the ship? We have a towncar booked to pick us up at the hotel at 9 am, so we are going to be REALLY early. Although we are going to have a grocery stop, so I'm guessing 10:30ish (??)

I like the magnet idea too. But what happens if someone gets the cabin numbers mixed up and puts it on the wrong door, or something? I mean, not that "I" would do anything like that. (ahem) I never get anything mixed up. :rolleyes1

I'm not too wild on "buying" anything at this point. My DH lost it tonight. I had to give my bride-to-be daughter a bit of money to help out, and he flipped out. Kinda like a scene in the "Father of the Bride". Good thing I did'nt hire Franc. (ok..if no one has seen this movie, you have no idea what I'm talking about..just ignore me)

I should be at the terminal by 11:30, I am telling hubby 10:30 as long as its not adult only I will have little one. But with the meet tell me when and where and I will make it. I like the magnet game.

The Christmas Ord. sounds good to, we could buy one put it in a cheap gift bag and pull numbers and each person could pick a bag not knowing what one they where getting or from who. Kinda like secret santa.

I ve seen father of the bride, I understand Franc could be hard to take.

The scrape book is out of this world, your way above my talents.

Trying to add photo.

I think I did it, this is the family picture we took right before hubby left just in case. So I love the picture but it brings back some hard memories. But he is back and no more worrying.

Marsha - great pic. You have such an awesome family. Your daughter looks like she could melt a heart!

Julie's autograph book is so cool. The picture doesn't do it justice though. Because the stickers you are looking at actually stick up off the page. And the sand castle is real sand. It is so neat!

I have a thread going on the main board for people to give us dis meet ideas. You can check it and see if it gives anyone else any ideas. I'm just trying to get this planned.

Raining here today. Yuck. I hope the hurricanes stay away from Port Canaveral!

Check back later. Deanna

I still like the terminal idea. We will all be sitting around waiting to get on the ship anyways, and it would be a good time-consumer. We could always plan to meet again after we are on the ship. And of course the early diners and late diners will be meeting up at dinner! We could always make sure that we have each other's stateroom numbers and could always call each other to arrange a "meet" once we get on the ship and scout out a good place.

Ok..those that fly frequently. How do seat assignments work? I went on the NWA website and noticed that I could pick a seat. However, on one flight, all seats are occupied. So...like..um..where do we go? in the aisles? I e-mailed NWA and they said that more seats will become available closer to flight date. I can understand that passengers cancel, but what if they don't? Are they over-booking the flight? Or will they use a bigger plane once they know how many are flying?

The way I understand it..........flights are always overbooked. This is because at the last minute so many people cancel, or miss the flight, get caught up in security, etc. And the airlines still want that flight full to make money. If a miracle happens, and everyone does show, then they offer a great incentive for someone to get bumped to a different flight. They volunteer to get bumped, and then the airline will give you a free flight to somewhere else. Etc. It depends on the airline what they will give you. I volunteer myself to get bumped with Southwest everytime I'm on a flight. (not this time though). I often get bumped and I get 1/2 off refund of the airfare I've already booked, and then a free flight anywhere in the U.S.

Don't worry about not being able to be on the flight though. It very rarely happens! And when it does, no one gets bumped off the plane without volunteering. The airline will just keep giving more incentives for someone to give up their seat. You will be fine!

Here is a link to the thread I started on the main board. This should give us some ideas! http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=895785

Marsha - What a great family picture, you are an adorable family. Your daughter is beautiful!

I am STILL trying to download photos. I might just have to get high-speed internet. It's hard to send pictures or view them when friends and family email them to me. It's annoying!

Deanna - I have read all of the "required reading" threads you gave us. I am prepared for the quiz! Hee, hee!

Good girl, Julie! You must have been an excellent student! You get an "A+" . I will now hand over the DIS meet discussion and organization back to Didi. I just wanted to get us thinking! Deanna
P.S. I'm going to pick up my formal wear poofy dress today. I had to take it in to get stuffing under the sleeves so the sleeves could be even more poofy. After seeing everyone else's formal attire, I couldn't be out done!
Deanna

Wow ~ Ladies out of control!!!! You guys have been BUSY again. Although I am not sure you ever stopped ...

On Hurricanes & Insurance ~ No Travel Insurance for us. I'm with Julie on this one. We are planning on going to WDW early and use the MAGIC Express & DCL Bus Line exclusively. The way we figure it is once we get to Orlando ... It's all up to Disney to get us moved around ... I can think of worse place to be stuck than WDW. :teeth:

Deanna - On the issue of crusing during hurricanes... Been There - Done That - Twice ... Still had a great time ... Waking up just to find out where we were going that day ... I try not to worry about what I miss but rather try to concentrate on enjoying whatever happens ... Of course, I have been "lost" more than once or twice in my life, so I have had practice. :rotfl2:

On Formal Wear ~ Actually, I think a Zoot Suit Tuxedo would be more appropriate for the guys to wear. We are, after all, classy guys!!! :rolleyes1

Becky ~ Where you staying at WDW? Will take you to lunch ... let me know.

On Gifts & Such ~ Have "presents" for everyone!!! Trust me, it is not much. I just like doing it ... Expect nothing in return. It is my pleasure to do it. I love to see folks smile ...

Ingrid-I understand Gringo's reaction. Things add up quickly and before you know it :confused3 I left the H2O running in the flower plot last night. H2O in ELP is VERY expensive. THAT probably cost me $100 overnight. :guilty: I was NOT happy with me this morning. :rotfl2: Give me a Canadian Smile in return :teeth: your life has enough challenges lately to have to worry about this ...

On "where to meet" ~ Last time we went, Chrystina  and I stayed at a hotel close by the port, the night before. Met lotsa folks there (including some we had not met on chat boards). Met folks at the check-in lines and at lunch in Parrot's Cay. By the time we met at the "designated" spot, we had already met 80-90% of everybody. :rotfl2: I suspect that Barney's Brood will be pretty much the same  PLAN AWAY!!! Party On.

Okay ... well I think that catches me up with most things ... Late for my morning constitutional and the temp is raising fast!!! Back later...

Dennis

Ingrid,

Chances are, there will be a seat for you on the plane. In the off chance that you do get bumped off, you will be compensated. On the way to our last cruise, my parents and Ivolunteered to be bumped off a filght from Detroit to Orlando. We received food vouchers, 300.00 NWA travel credits, and an upgrade to 1st class on the flight that we were bumped on to.

So, I'll be late for my morning constitutional ... :confused3

Ingrid ~ Having travelled by plane, once or twice, there is little need to worry the issue of seat assignments. I cannot remember when I have not gotten on a flight because of "overbooking" - except by my own choice!!! Becky is right about compensation ... It usually works out, especially if you have a little "extra time" built in ...

Marsha ~ You are now an "official techie". :cool1:

On meeting in the terminal ... NOT for me. Hate lines ... my goal is to get thru the terminal and on the ship - as quickly as possible. LUNCH awaits!!!

Gotta go ...

Dennis

Dennis

Dennis,

Thanks for the offer...I'd love to meet you for lunch :goodvibes
Unfortunately, I'm not staying at this time. I was supponsed to be staying at the HI DTD for 98 cents/night. Since the hotel isn't open yet, they moved us to the Sheraton Safari....off site near the Crossroads. However, I can meet you at any of the parks, DTD or at a resort (After working at WDW for a year, I'm very familiar with WDW transportation ;) ) Just name a time and a place (your choice) and I'll be there :cheer2: :Pinkbounc  :teeth: :goodvibes

Happy Friday Everyone :cool1:

Julie, Great scrapbook, I have seen those 3-D stickers but not used yet.

Marsha, Love the picture, beautiful family.

We will be at the terminal probably between 10 and 11am. We rent a car one way and drive over from the MCo area in the am, but that is what we are plannin on. Want to stack out our spot on Que of course.

Dennis: No worries, I don't believe anyone will be "hanging" out in the terminal once they start letting us on board....I think it was just to meet while we are all waiting!!!!

Ingrid, I hear you on not wanting to spend much more,
My DH travels almost as much as Dennis and experiences the overbooking of planes, but he always declines the incentives and gets right on board. He is usually going to a job or home and doesn't want to hang out in the airport anymore than absolutely neccessary. So just plant yourself in your seat and kick and scream if they try to kick you off :rotfl:

I am also up for the Magnet thing if thats what everyone else wants.

No Hurricane Dance :cheer2: :cheer2:

We didn't purchase insurance, we never have in the past either. We're with Julie and Dennis. As long as we can get into MCO and too the Ship we'll just go with the flow. We traveled on the heals of Isabell 2 years ago, so were biting out nails but it all worked out fine.......
EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE!!!! :grouphug:

Funny you should say that about your dress. I'm going today to get the gigantic hole cut bigger in mine! I can't wait to try it on! :rotfl:

I'm not sure how early we will be in the terminal. I would like to aim for around 11:00 or even earlier, but we'll just have to see. How about we just put reserved for Barney's Brood signs all over the tables at Parrot Cay, and make our own meet over lunch! Do you think anyone else would mind! ;) We could get Deanna to whip out some more nifty signs on her computer and just take over the whole restaurant! :rotfl2:

Marsha, your family is adorable. Can't wait to meet all of you in person. I'll have to see if I can find a family pic of us soon!

We're up for another meet in Parrot cay over our Shrimp lunch!!!! :earboy2:
We will be there as soon as we can get on board......

Erin C, great photos I'm assuming your the couple on the far right???

I hope the rest of us don't feel under dressed with Julie, Deanna and Smiling mouse wearing those designer fashions :rotfl: :rotfl:

Don't forget about Ingrid's dress! That raspberry colored frock is going to look mah-velous on her!

Erin - Great pictures! I Love the shots of your daughters! Adorable!

Also, we will probably get to the port around 10:30 or 11:00 am. We are staying the night before in Cocoa Beach so we will be too excited not to just take the 5 minute ride to the port right after breakfast!! :goodvibes
