Hi everyone!!

We just booked this cruise yesterday - I am so excited!!! :cool1:

There is only 3 of us. This will be DH and my 4 yr old DD's first cruise and my second but first with Disney. I know most of you have been around here for months but we wanted to say hello!!! :wave2:

I know there was some talk on this being a charter cruise but when my TA talked to Disney they said nothing like that and booked us with no problem. Don't know if a group did book a huge block of rooms though - there is no main dining left. :confused3 but maybe that is the norm.

Well, just wanted to say hello. I am also curious to find others with preschoolers out there. I think DD will love Kids Club as she is very social and friendly but I know she would love some "shipmates" to play with!!!!!

Hope to hear from some of you,
Suzanne

Hi! I hust switched from the 12/3/05 Western to this Western!!!!! WOOHOO...I'm going solo since I can't convince anyone to join me (I even tried to find a DIS roommate...). I was lucky enough to get one of the cat 7 surprise cabins :)

Happy Friday :)

:bounce: Good point Amy - Have been to Grand Cayman - Very Nice - You might want to consider British colonies ... :Pinkbounc

Hmm..prison time in the British colonies? Bread and water...and a spot of tea! Yeah, I could do that. :teeth:

:boat: Welcome aboard Suzanne and smilingmouse! :wave2:

 Hi Guys!!! Welcome aboard! Great to hear from you! Of course now that I seem to have put a case of pneumonia behind me, everything is getting better. You guys just make it icing on the cake!!!

Suzanne74 - What do you mean no "main dining" left? Are you referring to early sitting as opposed to late sitting? If you have been on a cruise before, be prepared to enjoy yourself! We have travelled with three other lines and with the exception of the absence of a casino (I like to play craps & cards), I find all of the other amenities ... multiple dining rooms, bigger staterooms, first run disney movies ... and of course, travelling with the Disney characters to be generally superior. Although we don't have children, it is great entertainment for us to watch parents & kids together when Mickey and crew shows up. We have pictrures with everyone!!!

SmilingMouse - Keep trying!!! Someone out there will come to their senses!!! Your friends must be related to my siblings!!! I have offered "free trips" to WDW to my brothers & sisters in the past. They are always too busy!!! Chrystina and I just never seem to get tired of Disney & Cruising!!!

Look forward to chatting ...

Dennis

Amy - Don't you think a British Colony prison would at least have the decency to serve "tea & crumpets" as opposed to bread & water?

Hi Power - Alaska!

Sorry to her about your pneumonia. Hope you are feeling better! Yes - I meant early seating, not main seating. When we booked they said we had to be on a waitlist :guilty: so I hope a lot of people bail out before the 90 day mark. oh well, it will probably be tough on our 4 yr old but I have heard I can try and switch when I get onboard. If not, we will make due - no biggie. Seems like this cruise is almost filled. I was thinking Sept would be a good time since kids are just back in school but there weren't many choices for rooms!

I am SO excited for our Disney cruise!! We have been to Disney a lot and I too love all the kids faces w/ the characters. I get just as excited :earseek: when I see Mickey or Minnie. My 4 yr old dd is a HUGE Minnie fan, loves her more than the princesses but they aren't too far behind. I know we will love this cruise. That atmosphere in WDW can not be beat and I know I will feel the same way on the boat!!!

Thanks for the hello - I will be visiting here often!!!

I love the dancing bannana on this board, I laugh everytime

This question is for anyone who has cruised this itinerary previously. We want to go to stingray city and our group includes a 4 year old. Since we can't have anyone that young with Disney, we booked it through Captain Marvin's. Due to DH scuba diving, the first excursion we can take with them is from 1:45 - 3:45. Has anyone done this before? Is Captain Marvin's generally on time? The last tender is scheduled for 4:30 to the ship. Will we have time to do all this? Once the last tender returns, is that it? Or is Disney leniant about times? :confused3 Thanks for input. I don't want to miss the boat.

 Good Morning CujoBugs

Have done the snorkeling at StingRay City but not with Captain Marvyn's. Great fun. Depth of the water was about 5-6 ft depending upon sand bar and tidal influences. Rays didn't raise much more than 2-3 ft off the bottom at any time. May be difficult for your DS/DD? if you planned on having them in the water. Best way to do this when I went was to drop to the bottom and swim with them. However, that said, Chrystina who gets nervous when over her head, had a good time. The rays are SO SOFT on the underbelly! Feels like chamois or silk. Hope that information helps

Cruise ships leave on schedule. PERIOD - End of Discussion!
Has to do with docking fees - expensive and charged per passenger. However, I suspect that Captain Marvyn's is pretty experienced with this. Grand Cayman is not that big. I suspect that you will have plenty of time. Also suspect that CM would contact DCL if they were "behind schedule". Perhaps someone else has experience with missing the boat? I think you should worry how many desserts to have at dinner instead. :rotfl2:

Chrystina & I are going to spend a few days at WDW before the cruise, so no Kansas City for us.

Dennis

 Good Morning Suzanne. Being "old & feeble", Chrystina and I usually have our naps in the afternoon - after a stressful day of deck lounging. So we tend to like the late sitting for dinner.

I am still wondering about this cruise. There are not as many folks on this thread as I have experienced in the past. Perhaps there is a significant VIP and entourage coming on board? ... BESIDES YOURSELF & family, CUJOBUGS, SKYCON, COTOMOM, CRAZY4CRUISES, GOOFYSGIRL, CHRISTIANWEECARE, PRAISEHISNAME, KCATOIR, and FOURFOXESINPA. :rolleyes1

Did I miss anyone? My apologies if I did.... :earboy2:

In the end, we will probably never know what the issue is/was. And truthfully, I am not sure that I care. Just want nice weather, calm seas, and to make/meet some new friends. :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Thanks for the "Get Well" thoughts. Feeling much better. See >>

Well, time to check and see who is winning the Iditarod this morning...

Dennis

pirate: Okay ... Who knows what Pirate's Night is? Have been on multiple Disney Cruises but do NOT remember that. Did I have a little too much grog and miss something? :rolleyes1 My bride :bride: Chrystina LOVES costume affairs!!! If there is one and I don't tell he I'll be thrown overboard with AmyMouse's Dad!!!

Alaska,

Thanks for the welcome. I'll be doing a few days in WDW before the cruise...I hope to ride Soarin' and Millionaire...

:cool1: SmilingMouse ~ Soaring is a LOT of fun!!! Chrystina and I did it last year in California ~ MULTIPLE times!!! Makes me want to go out and get my Glider License ... Dennis

It's been awhile since I've checked in and I am SO EXCITED :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc to see less than 200 days left on our calendar! AND ONLY 8 UNTIL THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING!

We've been concentrating on an "impromptu" trip to WDW in the nearer future. DH's company is hosting a conference and the other three Foxes are freeloading, except that it's not really free. We hope that Soarin' will be up and running when we're there - we might be lucky enough to get a soft opening.

:cool1: FourFoxes - Please understand that when Chrystina decides to accompany me to a conference or business trip, she calls that "Spouse Support" not freeloading. Like so many other things that I don't understand about her female logic, when I ask for an explanation, she simply tells me it is part of the "spouse maintenance" chapter in "The Man Book". Of course, since I am a man, I am not permitted to view "The Man Book". :rotfl2:

When I want to go with her, that is a "boondoggle", otherwise known as "freeloading". Who knew? Obviously not me. :confused3

Me, being blessed to have her in my life, simply accept it and move one. At least most of the time ...

Anyhow, if you get to WDW on this trip, make sure that you go to the Wild Animal Kingdom Lodge for the dinner buffet. {Spouse Support Award clause}. If they still have it, it is all you can eat & great food. Chrystina and I really thought it was worth the $$$. Good food, quality atmosphere, and just plain had fun. We just "stumbled upon it". I believe it is one of the "well kept secrets" of Disney.

Not to get off the subject of the AK, but....

Has anyone ever parasailed on CC?? I want to, but I'd like opinions frpm others.....

Power Alaska

Pirate's Night is the new theme night that is taking over for the tropical night. On the Western Cruise it is on Wed night. Cozumel port. There is a pirate theme menu and dinner. Everyone gets bandana's and I think a patch. Then there is a pirate's pary at 9:45pm on the pool deck with a desert/lite fare buffet and all the characters are all dressed up in pirate outfits. There is music, pirates everywhere and a finale of fireworks!!! I am so excited - it sounds really fun and my dd LOVES pirates. Over on the other board, I have seen many pictures of people dressing up in pirate costumes to just wearing something tropical. I think once this news moves along more and more people will be dressing up. We plan on it!!

Smilingmouse,
I have parasailed in Cancun about 12 yrs ago and it was only $20 and I was airborne for about 20min. I have hear that it is pretty expensive and you have to go out with a group - so you may be out there for over an hour but I think you are only airborne for 10min. I forget the cost though but it didn't seem worth it to me. Actually I was very surprised at how expensive the Castaway Cay costs are. Having to rent water mats, tubes etc.. and $14 for a banana boat ride :confused3 that is $140 a ride if they get all 10 people each time - that seems like they are making A LOT of money off of a plastic banana!! I think I paid $5 on Paradise Island a few years ago for a 5 seater. But with that said, a lot of people don't get to try new things and will pay top dollar - if you really have your heart set on it, go for it!

Suzanne - Thanks for the explanation on Pirate's Night. Now I know I have never experienced it. Will leave it to DS to decide if costumes are in order ...

SmilingMouse - All I can tell you is it is done out beyond the breakwater. Listed below is the information from the Disney Cruise Line website. Hope that helps...
