Dennis,

I think you may have dome serious difficulty being cribbage champ. Didi and I would both like that title!!!!

Oh my goodness, I was gone overnight and there were 2 new pages! Yeah!

First of all, Dennis - great picture! That looks like so much fun.

Deanna - I like your picture, too. Where was it taken? All of the kids are just so cute, your kids really look like you. So, you decided on the 2 hour tour, now it has me wondering how Bailey will handle that extra hour, probably not very well. I guess I still have a while to decide. Is the extra hour snorkeling only? The 2 hour goes to stingray city and one other place, the 3 hour goes to stingray city and 2 other places, right?

smilingmouse - no Palo for us, unfortunately. I don't think Jack will stay at Flounders.

I saw where reservations were linked when I registered the kids for the Oceaneer Kids Club. I'm not sure who all wanted to be linked, but I know I saw alot of names pop up.

Someone asked about Palo reservations.........

DW and I plan to go Sunday night. Of course I won't know until I can reserve it. Is it 75 days yet?!

Our thoughts were we wanted to go to Palo's when:
1. Not formal night (Mon)- we wanted to be in main dining room - hopefully Lumiere's- we wanted to see formal night done Disney style
2. Not on semi-formal night (Thu)- ditto but this may be alternative night
3. Not on pirate night (Wed)- hopefully in Parrot Cay- best place for pirate party
4. Not on Cozumel night (Wed)- after Tulum trip we are likely to be tired. An 8:30 pm dinner that night might be ideal for us to recharge
5. Preferably earlier in the cruise so kid's will not be bored with their club times yet. Since Disney will be baby sitting our kids so we can have a "date" in Palo's it will be importat that kids are entertained for a while.
6. Preferably we would not like to miss any Animator Palate meals- family has seen it on Travel Channel and can't wait to eat there.

If we do have the APL rotation- Disney says we won't find out until we board, then the best date night for us appears to be Sunday. Now all you CC member don't go and change your reservations.....just kidding. I hope this helps. (BTW Disney confirmed on the phone my reservation was linked "to a lot of people." Dennis I can't see it online, unless I just don't know how. You might try to call as well.)

I am a engineering project manager by profession. Can you tell yet? I drive my family crazy with all my planning. But then they look back and realize how much we do and appreciate it.

Sunday will work fine for you as long as that isn't your Animators palate night. They only do the show, the first time that you are in the restaurant. So you don't want to miss your first seating in AP. We chose Tuesday night for Palo. That way we will have already eaten at each restaurtant once and won't miss the AP show. If you don't end up with AP on Sunday night, than in my opinion it's a good choice for that night. We were kinda like you, we didn't want to miss anything. If all else fails, go to Palo at the opposite time that you are to dine in your regular restaurant. If you have late seating, do Palo at 6:00 and then just sit through your regular dinner time with the rest of your family. Of course, if you can do this without being miserable from eating all that food, you are in better shape than me!! :teeth: Good luck with your reservations.

Well all the windows are boarded up,the patio furniture is in the Garage, the Barbie house has been dismanteled, and the trampoline is half taken apart and upside down in the back yard!(man am I tired already!) I guess we are ready for Dennis to arrive. They are forcasting it to start coming in and really feeling the effects by tomorrow afternoon. It has lost some intensity, which is very good news. Hopefully it won't gain too much back coming across the gulf.

Dennis: Lilo, is from Lilo and Stitch a DISNEY film of course!!! :flower: No way would I let my children name a dog after some Looney toons character! In fact, I really don't think that they know any Looney toons characters. We only allow the Disney Channel to be shown in our home! ;) Great new pic. I've only done some mild class rapids in NC one time. I think that was BC (before children). I can't even remember life before then anymore! :)

Well I try to check in with you all later. Its MIL's B'day today, so at least we will get one last hot meal before the power goes! Yipee! And I don't have to cook which is my favorite meal! :rotfl: Have a great rest of the weekend.

MARS SPECTACULAR!

The Red Planet is about to be spectacular! Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287.

Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the Last 5,000 years, but it may be as long as 60,000 years before it happens again. The encounter will culminate on August 27th when
Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the
moon) the brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest 75-power magnification.

By August 27, Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye.

Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the east at 10p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m.

By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at
nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m. That's pretty
convenient to see something that no human being has seen in recorded
history. So, mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month. Share this with your children and grandchildren.

NO ONE ALIVE TODAY WILL EVER SEE THIS AGAIN

MARS Spectacular Event

NOT a Space Shuttle launch but definitely something special!!!

Chrystina  sent that to me. Should be pretty cool!!! :cool1: BUT I am not sure how they can say NO ONE ALIVE WILL EVER SEE THIS AGAIN :confused3 I may just hang around for the next one.

Dennis

Erin - We are thinking of you with all of this awful hurricane stuff going on. Stay safe and have a good -someone else made it- dinner!!!!! :)

Dennis - Thanks for the Mars info. That sounds amazing! And I wouldn't be surprised at all if you were still around for the next one!!!!

Dennis? Around for the next one? :rotfl: He is the most crazy and adventurous of all of us. Did you not see those rapid pictures? :rotfl: Sorry, Dennis, if you want to stay around for the next one, there will be no more class IV rapids for you! :rotfl:

Texas Larry: In response to your boys club numbers.......I have a DS11 and my nephew will be 4.
So here is the update for the 10-12 year old club:
kb1esx/ David has DS12
tx_disney_fan has DS10
cujobugs has DS11

Here is the update for the 4-6 group.
cujobugs has nephew 4

I am not at all worried about my ressies being linked for dinner. We have Alaska Dennis in charge. He is the king of planning. :cool2:

Julie- Yes, you are correct on the stingray excursion. I just know that a 4 year old isn't going to want to snorkel too badly. So I think one stop is enough. Then I can hopefully still see some other areas on land. Just my opinion. Feel free to join us! :cheer2: We will be without husbands on this excursion also. Also the picture of us was taken at Universal Studios in Hollywood in 2003.

Wow! We actually have a volunteer for the baton holder. I love it!

We are headed to the pool this afternoon. :sunny: Maybe we can push some of this sun down to Erin.
Deanna

OH MY GOSH :earseek: 3 pages in 12 hours........Its still mid morning her on the west coast. I don't get up early enouph to keep up with all you guys.

Love the picture Erin. Make me want to get a puppy..........maybe. :rotfl:

Julie: I did get an email from Marvins telling us to arrive at 9:15 bring sunscreen and such etc......like I said I couldn't open the attachment.
Meet at the Waterfront Center, 2 blocks left of the cruise pier.

David, Feel free to link our Marvins reservation.

Becky we are doing palo on Tuesday, Wanted to do Brunch too but only had Sunday available, didn't want to go our first morning aboard.

ErinC our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dennis, I PMed you Sorry didn't get back to you sooner. I think I gave you all the info you needed if not let me know. That would be funny to have our whole group circle the resturants.....feel sorry for the other cruisers :rotfl2:

Great picture Deanna, maybe sometime I will have time to figure out how to post a picture.

Got to go to the Library with DD's
will check back later,
kim

Hi everyone :wave2:
Just wanted to get in under the #1000.

Dennis - Saw the links when I registered kids into kids club. Thanks, too, for the Mars info.

We're doing a Palo brunch on Thursday. Hoping DS will like Flounders before then.

ErinC - hoping you're okay

Well I'm off trying to pre-pack for our Disneyland journey. Combining conference packing for me and vacation packing for kids is a bit of a process for me.

see ya

Look at that! Almost 1000 posts! Do we have a special prize for the one that posts on the 1000 mark? Maybe some special moose nuggets from Dennis??(ok..no cheating here...can't post one right after another!)

Gee. I hope Dennis does'nt mind that I delegated him to be the prize giver. And to do this while he is gone for a while and can't argue.

Have a great trip!! DMom and I will be there on 11/5 for 3 days!!!

Well. I'm off to practice cribbage! Take care all!

ErinC- Even though I have decided not to do the Grand Cayman excursion with your group, I wanted to send this to you. It is a copy of an email I got from nativewaywatersports. I thought you might be interested.
Hi Deanna,

Pleasant Greetings from Grand Cayman...and thanks for contacting us!

In general, the Stingray & Island tour departs the pier at 10 AM Central Time and completes at 2 PM Central Time. You spend about 40 minutes at Stingray Sandbar.

Please be advised that we may not be offering the tour on the day that you will be here. This tour has had little demand, and because of limited amount of transportation on the island since the hurricane, we will only conduct the tour if there is at least 12 people booked. So, tell me the date that you are arriving, and I will tell you if the tour is definitely going out.

Sharon Ebanks
P.S. If you plan to visit on September 27, the tour will definitely be going out.

For those of you booking excursions at the 70 day mark. Can you please remind me how this works? Can we start registering on Monday? I remember the 90 day mark group had trouble until about 3 a.m. Anyone know the best way to do this?
Thanks, Deanna :goodvibes

Thanks Deanna for the info. I guess I really need to get myself in gear and email her back. It sounds like the 27th is a go, so hopefully we can still get a reservation.

To all: Thanks for all the storm well wishes. Frankly, it's not looking very good for us, and every time I turn on the weather it looks worse, so I'm trying to ignore it! ;) The storm appears that it will make landfall very close to us, and seems to be gaining strength as it heads our way. I'm trying to put my happy face on for the kids, because I don't want them to be too concerned even though I am. DH keeps saying that we will be fine (he'd better be right!). If all else fails, my mother works for our city, and her office is at the police station. If we really think we need to take better cover we can go stay in a jail cell in our nice new Justice center (talk about scarring the kids for life! :teeth: ) At least its all concrete block, and all the prisoners have been sent home to be with there families(aren't small towns great!). My mom and my Dad will be sleeping in her office at the police station. The have large generators so they'll have power and A/C. Well, I'll continue to check in as long as I can, and hopefully Dennis the Menace will go away!

....oh, and Dinner was a wash! Every restaurant closed early today, so we had to cancel MIL's B'day dinner. Oh well, she said she likes to ignore her birthdays at this stage in her life, so it worked out well for her! :)

5 more posts till 1K!!!!

I can't help you one the 75 day mark. Took me almost a week to figure out how to view my reservations, then book palo etc....... :rotfl:

For those who have done Palo, I notice a thread on the main board regarding the proper tip. What have you done, I didn't realize some were tipping up close to $100 on top of their $10fee :confused3 . $75-100 seems like a lot. We won't be ordering bottles of wine or anything like that. I don't want to over do but don't want to be cheap either.......any help???

Happy saturday evening everyone :cheer2:

Another question for you Disney Cruise Veterans......when you were booking your reservations in the middle of the night, did you actually know right then if you got the ressies or not? Or did you have to choose several and they tell you later which ones are available? I guess I need to get more familiar with that site in the next few days. The BIG ressie day is coming! Or shall I say the big ressie night? For those of you who stayed up all night last time, you know what I am talking about.
Deanna

Okay, I am sorry. But I really want the 1000th post, despite me posting two in a row. Sorry Canada rules do not always apply to Americans!
