Hi All,

DiDi (aka Diane): I read somewhere that you can send all your good clothes out to be pressed and have them back in time for something like $40. :groom: Did any of the Castaway Club members bring home a dry cleaning price list?

Dennis: I think DiDi is a bit over enthusiastic about the game of cribbage. :rotfl: Does anybody remember from the original Star Wars the quote about Wookies & Chess? :scared1: :scared: :faint: ...gosh, my kids have been making me watch too much Star Wars. :rotfl:

Need coffee...

David

Giles - Yes! Your hubby is correct about the SCI-FI clause. :rolleyes1

DIDI - So what you are saying is that you want to be well-dressed for your cribbage execution? :rotfl: Actually, I think Chrystina  carries a travel iron with her. She, like you, despises wrinkles. On the other hand, there is ME - the guy they invented wrinkle free clothing for!!! Although Chrystina  says that I "clean-up nice" - RELAXED is more my style.

David - Glad to hear that the kitchen is a success. NOT the least bit worried about DIDI, when it comes to cribbage. I figure after 50 yrs of playing, there can't be much challenge in beating a blonde female wookie. :rotfl:

SmilingMouse ~ Where are you ????

Too late Dennis. We spend our hard-earned money seeing War of the Worlds last week. I'm not a big Sci-Fi fan, but somehow I was told that it was in the marriage contract that I must attend every Sci-Fi movie released til death do us part. I don't recall ever saying anything to that effect in the marriage vows but my partner insists he is right. So as long as I get the big tub of popcorn and large coke, I'm happy. I'm not much of a movie critic. Heck, I don't even see what they saw in Lord of the Rings! I was mad after the first movie when after sitting in a 3-hour movie, they did'nt even toss the ring! Although I'm not fond of any sci-fi/fantasy movies overall, I was the least fondest of War of the Worlds. Is the book better?

DH had a very hard time dragging me to The Fellowship of the Ring. BUT, after I saw Aragorn, I think it was me hitting the Fandango to get tickets for the next two shows. :lovestruc Ahhhhhh.....my king. Now, he knows better than to EVER ask me to go to a Star Wars or Star Trek movie. DS will gladly accompany him.

Welcome new boatmates! Glad to have you along for the ride.

Mornin Dennis (and everyone else)

No worries, I'm still here...I was out visiting with my 2 best friends all weekend :love1:

Is it September yet???

I hope Peggy comes back after reading this thread through!! I'm sure she will be a superb baton-holder!!

Didi - WOO-HOO!! for you for paying off your cruise! Sorry, I don't know that answer to you ironing question - my wonderful husband does any ironing around here!

GilesFamily - I bet you will do a great trip report! Are you going to do it live or wait until you are back home? Am I the only one anxious to see the results of this infamous cribbage game? This will be fun! :3dglasses

Dennis, David, fourfoxes, smilingmouse, bpicard9, and everyone else - :wave2:

Now, where's my Kansas buddy, Deanna?!?

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July!

Hey everyone!

Julie- your Kansas buddy is still here. We've been on vacation to Missouri. Kids are with grandparents now for a week. Woo hoo. So I've been away from the computer while in Missouri. I'm getting caught up on the thread while at work. (during lunch of course)

Welcome to Peggy. I noticed she hasn't replied again since her first message. I think you all have scared her away with all your talk of the baton holder. Hope she returns!

Have a great day! Deanna

I posted this question on the main board, but no responses yet. Have any of you Castaway Club members ever toured a lighthouse on the western? I was reading about one in Key West. It is called Key West Light House and Keeper's Quarters Museum. Anyone ever seen it? Or do you remember any lighthouse tours on the other islands? Thanks. Deanna :flower:

Deanna - Glad you are back. Where did you go in Missouri? I actually was born and lived in Mid-Missouri until I got married and moved to the "big city". :) I have been all over Missouri!

I have never done a lighthouse tour. Did you read about it in the passporter? Sounds like it might be fun.

Deanna,
I don't know about Islands, but we are planning on walking down to the Light house in Key west. From the Passporter it looks about a mile one way from the dock. Its not too far from Hemmingways house.

Kim, Deanna, & Julie - At the risk of getting myself beat to a pulp here is a simplified guide to touring a lighthouse - Walk clockwise up the stairs to the level platform with the light, circle the platform until you get to the stairs then walk counterclockwise down the stairs - That will be $12 for adults, $10 for Seniors, $6 for children 6-18, children under 6 are free. - Thanks :rotfl:

Sorry - I couldn't let it go by. Actually, I am a big fan of lighthouses... :rolleyes1 Just let me know what my penance is ...

And just in case anyone was wondering ...

Good day everyone. :) After an adrenalin-filled day and evening, it’s past midnight here and I can’t convince my body to “sleep”. Great time to check on the posts as the rest of the family is fast asleep, and I have no one to compete over computer time! It was a hot hot day here today..about 27C. :sunny: That’s about 81F in US language. And it was a day for things to break down. First our dishwasher decided to call it quits. So we went to buy another one, but when we got it home and unpacked it, the whole side of the dishwasher was bent in. More than likely the “careful” shipping guys dropped it off the truck. So the store promised to bring us another one, but in the meantime I have a dishwasher in the middle of the kitchen. Always trying to look on the bright side, I always wanted a kitchen island, so for the next day or so, I have a temporary kitchen island! :bounce: And then the AC in my car decided to quit on the hottest day of the year. But hey…good way to condition myself to hot weather for the trip! They say these things always happen in three’s. So I wonder what the next thing is that is going to break down. Oh oh..my monitor is flickering!! :teeth: :badpc:

Julie – I’m going to attempt to do my trip report on a daily basis if time permits cause I know if I wait until I get home I’ll forget half the stuff!

Anyone have any good recommendations for a good beach at Cozumel? This is Plan B, if we decide against the Xcaret excursion. Anyone heard anything about the new beach, Palm Beach? :cloud9:

Hi All,

Tropical storm season seems to be picking up...

Tropical Storm DENNIS approaches the Western Caribbean!! DiDi, doesn't that name strike fear into you? :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Now Dennis, please call of your namesake. OK?

Any other OCD cruisers interested in some interesting weather links?

Thanks,

David

GilesFamily - I have heard great things about Paradise Beach and Palm Beach. From what I heard, Paradise Beach can get very crowded if alot of cruise ships are in port that day. I think the day we are there, there are 5 or 6 and I believe that is pretty average. Paradise Beach has restrooms, food, bar and huge water toys like water trampoline and ice burg. It's free to enter the beach, but if you want to use the big water toys there is an $8 bracelet that you have to buy. Here is the cruisecritic stuff about Paradise Beach http://boards.cruisecritic.com/search.php?searchid=2043151

Palm beach is supposed to be great too. I heard they recently got water trampolines and an iceburg. Palm Beach also has food and restrooms and all of that. I'm sure you can walk between the both of them and see which one you like better. There is also a beach called Nachi Cocum that is supposed to be more adult oriented. There are no water toys, but they have a pool.
Here is the palm beach info:
http://boards.cruisecritic.com/search.php?searchid=2043163 As you can see, I have been planning a beach day in Cozumel!!

Dennis the Menace? - I didn't even know there were any hurricanes yet :sad2:

Summer in Alaska = Fishing & Golfing ... "Period, End of Discussion" ...
Speaking of which - Tee time in 45 mns - Cya

Giles Family, I've also heard great things about Paradise beach, We are planning a Lazy beach day for Cozumel, and shopping of course. No excursions for us that day. You do have to take taxi's to the beaches, they don't have any within walking distance.

Julie I have not heard of Palm Beach. Do you happen to know if the $8 is pp or per family, for Paradise??

Is anyone else here planning on rebooking while on Board?? We want to go rebook for Aug 2007. Never rebooked on board before :confused3

Hi All,

Does anybody know if the following web cam will see the Magic/Wonder as they enter & exit Port Canaveral?

http://www.orlandosclosestbeach.com/cam.html?cam=2

The cam description is below:

Cape Canaveral Web Cam

Enjoy the view of Cape Canaveral and the Port Canaveral jetty. Check back soon as we will be adding several other web cams along our beautiful coastline.

I captured this picture of what I think is the path from the harbor to the ocean:

I'll also post on the main board.

Thanks,

David
