Becky ~ Hmmm - When did you agree to sing??? Well, remember that time you left the room and went on vacation??? We had a VOTE!!! :rotfl: Congratulations!!!

Okay - All you priceline experts ... how do I fo about getting the best deal on a rental car? Need a car for about a week in Bangor, ME in two weeks. Needless to say, car rental rates stagger me!!! :sad2: Recommendations?

Thanks

Dennis
Gee, thanks Dennis ;) I'm sure we'll be volunteering you for lots while you're in Vegas :rotfl2:  I must say that I'm looking forward to seeing your jig, though

Kcatoir---I have a suggestion for us: lip synching....that way the ear plugs won't be needed :)

Have a happy evening all :)

Didi - Your idea about Mr. Ray from Finding Nemo helped!! I couldn't believe it. She is actually excited about doing the stingrays, it's all she can talk about. Yea! Woo-Hoo! Thanks for the idea. Now, I have to ask a question that I'm sure has been answered a couple of times already. Sorry! Exactly which stingray excursion is everyone doing? David, Deanna, Kim, DiDi, Giles(are you going on it?), any one else did you all end up picking the same one? If I am not going to go through Disney, I would at least like to go on the same one that you all are doing. Let me know. I know at one time people were talking about the 2.5 hour one, but then maybe were going to switch to the 3 hour?? Thanks!!

p.s. I got an over the door shoe holder, too! :)

Well, an Irish Jig can't be any more difficult than tap dancing around all this nonsense that I like to keep starting. :rotfl: :confused3 :rotfl:

Dennis

Good Morning all! :sunny:

Still raining :umbrella: here. Coffee is brewing, and I'm still a bit fuzzy this morning. Barney is trying to walk al l over this computer while I'm typing. :cat: Let say he's on the mend, and a pain in the butt!!!

Julie, great news I'm so glad the wee ones are excited. :goodvibes I used the positive story telling on many occassions. :teeth: I also used the no you can't have any approach, mommy and daddy do not want to share when it came to food items. It drove the DS crazy so of course I would let him have one piece of vegatable, and of course he liked it..... Then I would act like it was a big sacrifice to let him have more.....get the picture. This kid will eat anything now!!! :teeth: This approach worked so well that I actually got my hubby to like aspargus. Their favorite is roasted aspargus cooked with garlic, shallot, olive oil and balsamic vinager and a sqeeze of lemon juice. Now when Patrick tells me he doesn't like something I use the line, "but remember it's your favorite and I only make it just for you". pirate: :teeth: :rotfl: The DS then replies, " Oh, I remember, I like it".

Where is my BIL David......I will call him and tell him to post which Sting Ray excursion we are going on. I truely don't remember. I know I'm booked. Thank God for my BIL. I just started a new job a couple of months ago so I've been a bit overwhelmed lately, my planning techniques went South for awhile....but now they are back. :teeth:

Must wake up the clan now...

Have a great day everyone. :grouphug:

Didi

Hi all! Just checking in! Welcome Peggy and family (if she ever returns to read this!)

We are still planning on doing our stingray excursion with Nativeway watersports (although I need to officially make the reservations). Its the stingray excursion and city tour all in one. You can check it out at www.nativewaywatersports.com . I need to make sure that we will be off the boat in time for the excursion. The time changing back and forth is really confusing me!(like it takes much)

Well I'm officially a mother again. We adopted a six week old beagle this weekend. She is precious, but why didn't someone remind me how much work a puppy is! She howls a good bit during the night, and now that DD has turned 2, I was really getting used to my sleep again! Oh well!

Well folks, just in case any of you are concerned about bad weather during our cruise, I'm starting to worry too. I told myself that I was not going to be too concerned about it, but this hurricane season is off to a big start. So far(here in our county), we have had tropical storm Arlene, and just this week TS Cindy, and now we are looking at Hurricane Dennis. UGH! Being less than a year out from Hurricane Ivan, we are just not ready to deal with this right now! We are probably not going to evacuate this time like we did with Ivan. We will probably be boarding up our windows, and move everything in the back yard into the garage (again) tomorrow, unless Dennis decides to change his mind about his path sometime soon. Not that I wish it on anyone else, but our area just does not need this right now. I think that Grand Cayman is feeling the effects of Dennis as we speak, although they are on the better side of it this time. Well, that's enough of my whining! In between hurricane preparations I need to go birthday shopping for my MIL. I think it's one reason that DH married me, so he never had to shop for a female relative ever again! ;) Wish us luck on the weather and the birthday present quest!

Erin

Happy Friday Everyone,

Hope Peggy will be back, she and I started the tread for this cruise before this one, as mentioned in the OP. We chatted some back then.

Becky, Lip Syncing is a good Idea, but might still be a stretch for this wall flower. :confused3

Julie, thats great your DD is getting excited about the stingrays. We are also booked on the 3hr tour with captain marvins like David & Didi. Check in at 9:15. Becky were you also booking this?? Don't know if we are all on the same boat, but I'm sure they can arrange that. All our nervous kiddo's may need the moral support from other kiddo's.

Erin, our prayers are with you, hope Dennis doesn't give you too much trouble. I'm getting a bit nervous about storms during our cruise too.

Speaking of trouble........Dennis......... :rotfl2: .

If anyone is thinking of making a door sign but doesn't want to hassel with magnetic paper......there was a great suggestion to just Laminate your sign and apply sticky magnetic tape to the back.

Howdy everyone! I'm stuck at home for the weekend because my DS is taking scuba certification classes all weekend. So I can't go anywhere! Bummer. :earboy2: So I'm sure I will be checking these threads a lot.

Stingray crowd: I discussed linking our reservations at Captain Marvins. I still haven't done it as I am undecided if I want to go on the longer excursion. I am currently booked on the 2 hour excursion. Here is the info from their website. Short Excursion (approx. 2.5 hours):

Times: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM,

11:15 AM to 1:15 PM, or

1:45 to 3:45 PM, Monday through Friday (Check in by 8:00 AM, 10:45 AM or 1:15 PM)

· Stingray City sandbar, where you may feed and swim with the 'rays

· Snorkel at the incredible Barrier Reef or the Coral Gardens!

· Price: US$34/ages 12 and over; US$20/ages 4-11; under age 4, free!

· Price includes round-trip transportation from the Waterfront Centre, or from your condo or hotel on Seven Mile Beach, PLUS snorkel gear, life vest (optional), food for the stingrays, and icewater and fruit punch on board the boat.

I am currently booked on the 11:15 a.m. excursion. I am undecided about going on the three hour excursion for two reasons. We have a 5 year old that can't snorkel. So I'm not sure how much he will like the extra snorkeling stop that the three hour tour does. Also I get motion sickness easily. And I'm not sure I want to be on the water an extra hour. If everyone else is deciding on the three hour tour, I will probably bite the bullet and do it also. It is easy to link the reservations. I've already talked to the lady at Capt. Marvin's and she said I would just need to email her and she would put us all on the same boat.

My DS and DH are doing the scuba dive with the stingrays at the original stingray city. It is in a different area that is 12 feet deep. :bounce:

Hey Dennis!!!! I was reading a trip report on one of these threads. They had mentioned that their DIS group ate together and there was a lot in their group. She said they were all placed by the windows in the dining rooms that had windows. I guess Animator's Palate has no windows. I wondered if we could request window seats? Were you asked that when you talked to the Disney lady? Just curious. Since I am a lowlie without a window in my room, I need all the free window views that I can get! :rotfl:

If anyone has any hints of what I am doing wrong with my pic let me know. I can see it but no one else can. Is there something else I need to click to make it happen? Still confused!

Have a happy Friday! Deanna

Kim- I think it would really be helpful to my daughter to see other kids getting in there. I would love to be in the same group with some fellow DISers.

Deanna- Do you think you would want to switch to the 3 hour at 10 am? My 5 year old won't be snorkeling much either. I don't know if she would be happier on the 2 hour or not. But it would be nice to be with a bigger group of people that we are familiar with...hmmmm...decisions. Let me know what you think.

ErinC- Wow! A new puppy, how fun for your girls! I bet she is so cute, I want to see a picture of her. What's her name? :goodvibes

Julie: Yes they need moral support. Sounds like from Deanna we can all get on the same boat.

Deanna, let us know what you decide. If you change your booking maybe you can hook us all up together. :cool1: If you decide not I can email Captain marvins.

ErinC; I think Beagles are "adorable" if we ever got another dog thats what I would consider........but only concern is the HOWLING!!!! Don't want a noise maker dog, the one we have now is SOO well behaved about not barking. Would love to hear your experiences with this new dog. Yes puppys are a lot of work.

Our dinner reservations is not hooked to the group but I did request APL. Dennis we would be more than happy to have you add ours.

Ok no one has said it lately
"IS IT TIME TO GO YET????" :moped:

Folks,

I know I don't participate like I should but I really do enjoy hearing everyone's views on plans, etc. I sat down with DW and we made our excursion plans. I thought I would let you all know in case anyone else had similar plans.

Key West-
Doing the trolley car tour. DS10 said the most important thing to him in Key West is the Key Lime pie.

Grand Cayman-
I can't convince anyone else in the family to go snorkelling with the stingrays in GC. We are planning on doing the island tour.

Cozumel-
DW and I have been there before on a cruise. This time we plan on doing the Tulum ruins trip. Any opinion about my DD7 and this tour?

Castaway Cay-
Relaxing beach day and let kids play in their clubs.

I think our default will be to go with the Disney excursion tours although I am open to any info about superior/ less expensive same quality options.

DS10 is interested who else will be in the club with him. Are there any other boys out there? I have seen many DDs out there and some that will be in with our DD7.

This is the response I got:

Hi David,
Not a problem at all. We have several boats ranging in length from 34-45
feet, with capacities from 16-45 people. The boat assigned to a particular
trip depends on how many people sign up for that trip, but the average
number of people on a boat is about 25.
We will just need to know the individual bookings that wish to be together,
in case we will be using more than one boat for the trip that morning, and
we'd be happy to put you all together.
Thanks,

Shirlene for CaptMarvin's

David

DS (8 at the time) and I went to Blizard Beach one afternoon during our September 2003 trip. We had a good time and had VERY few people there.

I've also been to Typhoon Lagoon with all of the family. It was probably better for the DD (who isn't big on the thrills.)

If it was my choice I'd go to BB. If you want any more info I can post or PM me.

Your plans sound great! I am of the same opinion as your DS10 about the Key Lime pie. It's the one thing that I must do in Key West! In Grand Cayman we were going to do the Island Tour until I talked my daughter into the stingrays! I don't know much about the Tulum Ruins tour, but it really sounds like a fun excursion. You are all going to have a great time.

Hi,

DS12 & DS9. Both are willing to swap email before the trip.

PM me with any details.

David

ErinC- I've emailed nativeway sports to check and see what time the excursion begins for the stingray city and island tour. The site where I'm looking never gives a time. It only says it is four hours. I'm still trying to make my decision on Captain Marvins or not. I like the idea of having a tour of the island also, but I dont' think I will do it since my DH and DS will be trying to hook back up with us after their excursion. So I will probably be doing the Capt. Marvin tour.

If we do Captain Marvins, how many would we have as a group? Would we be over the 25 per boat limit? Here is a guess on the tally if it happens. Let me know how close I am. :) If I change to the three hour tour, please excuse the vomiting over the side of the boat from being sea sick.

Kim-4
Didi-4
Julie-4

For those who have done Capt. Marvin's, will they drop you off at seven mile beach when you are done?
David- my previous email to Capt. Marvin's had a similar reponse. It sounds like it is simple to link them. :Pinkbounc
Thanks, Deanna

Kim, Julie, Deanna, The puppy's name is Lilo! (our last dog was Belle) The girls named her when they got back from their trip with their Mimi. We had a short list of Disney girl names and that's what they picked. I'll try to post a pic of her, but I'm not sure I know how! She is getting adjusted to us and staying in her kennel when we are not home and at night. Beagles chew on everything, so leaving her out in the house at this point is not an option. Right now she is curled up at my feet asleep. The house training is not going as well as I would like, but hopefully she will get the hang of it soon. Thank goodness we don't have any carpet downstairs except for our master bedroom, and I just keep the door closed all the time right now. If anyone has any experience with a puppy training method that really works, please feel free to PM me, I'd love to hear it. Right now I take her outside, if she goes, I give her a treat. If she goes in the house, she gets nothing! DD2 likes her from a distance. She runs from the couch to the chair, and won't walk around the house if the dog is in the room.

Well, I need to swap out the laundry. I'm trying to get as much as possible washed, in case we don't have electricity for several days, at least we'll have clean clothes to wear. Of course since it's 90+ degrees right now, with no air, I'm thinking we probably won't want much in the clothing dept.

My DD11 has the same idea. She saw the Key West Pie Store on the food network and said "Mom we HAVE to go there". So that will be part of our walking tour. Maybe the walk will burn the calories from the pie :rotfl:

Sorry no Ds's. Other than my 40 year old going on 12 :love2:

CC also a lazy day for us, might suprise dd's with a sail boat rental. :Pinkbounc

Would love to do the ruins but thats sounds like a LONG trip.

Deanna: Sounds about right to me. Island tour would be nice but I think 4hrs is pushing my DD's a bit, going to need some relax time after the snorkeling.
It sounds like they have larger boats but 25 is the "average" number per trip. I still think we are under 25 unless others want to join.

Deanna - Actually, it is only me and Bailey going on the stingray excursion so there's only 2 of us. Don't worry about throwing up, it will just give us something to laugh about later!? :teeth:

Erin - What a cute name for your puppy! I like it!
