DH, DS15, DD11, DS5 and I will be on the cruise! Starting to get really excited. :cheer2: :cheer2:
We will be flying down for the first time and if anyone from Tennessee (tys) has any airline good prices I would love to hear. I don't have any idea what is a good rate. :confused3

Peggy-

Hi! I am so happy you found our thread. The cruise is going to be here before we know it!! I can't believe June is over already! Is this your first cruise? You guys will have a great time! :sunny:

Peggy - Y'ALL got me so excited & jumping for joy that I hit the wrong key!!!

Welcome aboard Matey!!! Have all the same questions that Julie has plus would like to know if you are an "uppity early", "lately lowlie", "lowlie uppity", or an "early lowlie". :confused3 Just read the 850 posts and y'all will understand everything. :rotfl: Us'n OCD's (Obsessive-Compulsive Disney's?) of Barney's Brood have discussed everything! :grouphug: So let us know what we can do to help.

OBTW - Congratulations banana:-As the mostest & newest newbie, Y'all are now the official Bon Voyage Party Baton Holder! :wizard: : A position of incredible importance & high esteem amongst Barney's Brood. :rolleyes1 Just ask DiDi. She has held the BVP Baton the longest & knows all the rules, regulations, and requirements of this exalted position. :wizard: I imagine that if she is not practicing her cribbage to avoid a "whupping", she will take the extended period of time (Say 12 seconds?) necessary to explain it all. :rotfl:

Once again ~ Welcome aboard!!! - Look forward to our adventures together! :grouphug:

Dennis

Hello All & Welcome to Peggy & Family from TN!!

I think there was another person from TN. I havn't seen them post in a while. They must be a lurker :rotfl:

If your out there, step up & welcome the new folks!!

Our Kitchen remodel is about 99.5% done. Just gotta finish all the little clean upp chores. Also need to get ready for the family tommorrow!

Gotta run...

Is it time to go yet? No, I've got 82 Days 7 Hrs 5 Mins 51 Secs before my plane leaves Boston. :guilty:

C'Ya!!!

David

Just wandered in from a half-day flight in a Cessna 172 with the "rented kid" :cool1: Such a very nice day out there, it was meant for flying!!! :Pinkbounc

The "rented kid" showed absolutely NO FEAR of flying - heights etc etc :confused3 Boy, I was suprised but pleased :teeth:

Anyhow, just thought I would check in ...

Giles Family - Read the responses to your questions about Excaret. Makes me wonder if the trip to the mainland is worth it. :confused3 Currently have reservations but I may cancel out and do something else. Like let Chrystina  go shopping for some "great deal" and "save me" lost of $$$ :rotfl:

Good Night all

Dennis

Hey Dennis. I had kept track of the responses to my posting re: Xcaret. I'm just curious on why you decided to opt out. Other than the long ride there, and the sick aunt :rotfl: , most postings were rather positive about it. For me, I think the two negatives would be the long ride there and the $$$! And although your excursion fee pays for a few things they remind you to "Bring MORE cash!" Ahh..corporate business at it's best. :sad2: So I'm still up in the air about it. Hubby said not to worry about the expenses, but then that's him. Money burns a hole in his pockets. The way he is thinking is that we don't know how long it will be before we can go on a trip again, so he wants to go "all-out". I may fall over in exhaustion though :faint:

I've got one more week to make a decision!

Happy 4th of July Everyone!!! God Bless America!!!

Giles - Have not bailed on the Excaret idea yet. Still pondering it. Mostly it would be the long boat ride. Not sure that I noticed what type of boat is used for transport or what a "long" ride is. Neither boats nor motion sickness are a problem for me. I just don't like spending a "long" time getting there.
Did notice the positive discussions. So I planned to review the comments again and talk with Chrystina  about it. Although I am usually a frugal New England Yankee, I agree with your husband, do it up right. :Pinkbounc Chrystina  and I have been on a number of cruises. Target what you want to do, budget for it and then let the $$$ go. Enjoy the experience. Chrystina  leaves $$$ management up to me. Everything we do, especially vacations, is "pay as you go". So we usually have paid for everything up front. If not, we bite the bullet and use our meager savings. As I tell her, "we may not have much but we dont' owe anybody either!"

Dennis

GilesFamily and Dennis -

Have you guys looked up anything on cruisecritic.com about the Xcaret excursion? I was thinking I read stuff about it on the cozumel board there, but I'm not sure.

Have a good 4th of July, everyone!! :sunny:

Julie - Great site - Good Info - Thanks :teeth:

It would appear that there would not be enough time to satisfy me. DisCruise is 0925 to 1700 - Less time for travel and such, it appears to be under 5 hours. :confused3 With a risk of making Chrystina  seasick? Probably not worth it for us. One of the primary attractions is/was some Mayan Ruins architecture and such. Chrystina  talks about seeing it all the time. Since we are going to Belize in December, I think we may just stay a few days longer and "do it right". Cruise excursions can be fun but I have found that I just don't like the ones where you spend a significant amount of time travelling to do it. Unless, of course, the "travel time" is part of the ambience of the excursion - ex: catamarans to snorkel & such.

Thanks for the feedback... :love2:

Dennis

Thanks for the link, Julie.

I agree with you Dennis about the travel time on this excursion. In our case, we are travelling with a 6 year old. If she isn't having a good time, or gets sick, or just had enough and wants to go back to the ship, it's a long way "home". Five more days to make up my mind!

Hi to all!!! :wave2:

Welcome on board, Peggy and family! I bow down :worship: and pass on my responsiblities to the Newbie :wizard: !!! I will miss this awesome responsiblity and the lovey gift that I would have received if I managed to keep my position as the official Bon Voyage Party Baton Holder! :rotfl2: : Not sure what the gift is but many discussions about Moose Scats have been passed around. pirate: pirate: The position of incredible importance & high esteem amongst Barney's Brood (per Dennis) is all yours. :cheer2: :Pinkbounc If you have any questions just ask. :rotfl: If you read the thread, Barney's Brood is named after my Maine Coon Cat ( the one who donated 100 Disney dollars to this wonderful cruise by a visit to the Vet). The baton has passed on....a job that I will truely miss.

Just came back from Kathy and David's. The kitchen looks like HGTV's dream kitchens.... I am sooooo envious :disrocks:

Gee's I take a week away from you guys and I have to catch up on all the reading. Not like it's hard, it's quite enjoyable.

Peggy, do you know how to play cribbage or backgammon? One of the rules for the Newbie is to help me kick Dennis's butt around and make sure he does not win at all costs. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: ;)

Welcome again and to the rest of you all, Happy Fourth of July!!!

After reading all the wonderful trip reports, I'm motivated to do one myself! I convinced hubby that we MUST bring our laptop with us. He reluctantly agreed, being that he knows he will be the one responsible for carrying it around airports (he knows me too well). Of course I responded "oh, honey..if it gets too heavy for you, I'll carry it!" Which just guarantees that he will carry it all the time now in order to boost his masculinity (I know..I'm bad).
Anyways, I'm going to attempt a trip report. So beware, Barney's Brood....you may be quoted (or misquoted) on the DIS board after the cruise! :rotfl2:

Oh..speaking of carrying...the other day we went shopping for a garment bag, and came across a luggage store at the mall that was having a closing out sale. Everything 70% off! So instead of just buying a garment bag, we bought ourselves a whole NEW set of luggage! (I just love a good sale! :) )

:wave2:
Just wanted to stop by and say Welcome and congrats on the party baton ;)

Hope it's been a safe and happy 4th.

Giles - How wonderfully exciting for you to volunteer to be the HISTORIAN!!! There is no doubt in my mind that everyone else :grouphug: will join me in saying Thanks & Congratulations!!! :cheer2: :rotfl: :cheer2:

DIDI - NOT nice.. :sad2: Trying to get Peggy (and others) to gang up on me at cribbage... Getting nervous? :teeth: However, Congratulations on being "paid in full" :cool1: Most definitely a great feeling. :Pinkbounc

Peggy - NOT to worry --- the "extra special" Alaska gift for the BVP Baton Holder is NOT (in any form or manner) Moose Scat. Trust Me? :rolleyes1 Have you read thru the entire thread yet? Are you a "lately"? And if so, do you want to be "linked" to the rest of us for dinner? Let me know ...

Okay - Any Sci-Fi types - Wait to rent the video "War of the Worlds".

Dennis

Too late Dennis. We spend our hard-earned money seeing War of the Worlds last week. I'm not a big Sci-Fi fan, but somehow I was told that it was in the marriage contract that I must attend every Sci-Fi movie released til death do us part. I don't recall ever saying anything to that effect in the marriage vows but my partner insists he is right. So as long as I get the big tub of popcorn and large coke, I'm happy. I'm not much of a movie critic. Heck, I don't even see what they saw in Lord of the Rings! I was mad after the first movie when after sitting in a 3-hour movie, they did'nt even toss the ring! Although I'm not fond of any sci-fi/fantasy movies overall, I was the least fondest of War of the Worlds. Is the book better?

Good Morning to all. :sunny:

Got to get my coffee...... love my first cup of coffee.

Giles family, what a deal on the luggage, I love shopping and especially when I find a bargain. Need to get a garment bag too, I heard they don't have irons in the room. I despised wrinkled clothing. I heard you can iron your clothes at the laundry room, but who wants to keep running there to press clothes so they are wrinkle free!!! :earboy2: Any suggestions out there?

Thanks Giles family for being the historian, remember to not quote Dennis when he uses those bad words as he loses to me in cribbage! Wait a moment, maybe I should be more worried about being misquoted then losing in cribbage :scared1:

Well everyone have a great day. :grouphug:

Didi
