Sept 2012 car rental......

Yes I did think about that my Alamo rate lets me be a driver also, but I don't know that I would want to. I think I am better off letting DH do the driving.
I am not worried about the $7. Its more if I will have a hard time with Alamo with our Corporate Costco card or not.

Me being a second driver is a deal breaker for me.

I would imagine my hubby will do 99% of the driving, but I want to be able to run to the store while him and the kids swim, or decide to head to Downtown Disney with the kids one night while he has some quiet time, or any other last min thing that would see me regret not being 'allowed' to drive.

I did think about that too.

Its $230 with fees
I have $237 at Alamo

What is better Alamo or Dollar?
THanks

The Dollar rate is really good Like $230 total cost but I like using Alamo's kiosk and the added driver I'll stick with them. Which company is better? Iv'e used both before
and had no problems but a couple of us wana visit the "Holy Land" park nearby. I'll list one as the additional driver so I can relax while they can go check it out.

Hmm.. I don't think I am worried about being a driver, we are not planning on anything other than WDW, and I think I would worry to much about getting in an accident if I drove(DH would have a fit), if he gets in an accident I would not have a fit.

So its now Alamo Kiosk vs Dollar counter. Do you really save time with the Alamo kiosk???

Thanks so much for your help.

FYI-Just did a search on kayak for my Sat thru Fri reservation (sept 8th thru the 14th). Had a full size with Alamo for a little under $170. Found same car with Dollar for $122 including tax and charges. Don't know if price will go down any more, but I'm very happy with this!!

Ok all you car rental experts....lol

I am renting a car on the 6th... Am I seeing the rock bottom prices now?

Just make sure you make a reservation somewhere soon, because if you wait til a week or so before, I'm pretty sure the prices skyrocket. You can always cancel one reservation when you find the cheaper one. So far, I've had two, and I am going to keep looking to try to save a few more bucks. Good luck! :)

I'm starting to worry big time. We have been waiting to book ours to hopefully get lower rates and now they have jumped up again. We are looking from Sept. 13-22 for a full size and the other day with the Costco codes listed on page 24 it was right at $200 and now it $346. Ugh.

Book something -- you can always cancel or modify if you come across a better deal. There is no penalty for canceling. Alamo rates have gone up each of the past few days. There is no reason not to lock something in now.

Check kayak. That's where I got my cheap rate with Dollar. I had never used them before, and loved the rate I got earlier today. Unlike orbitz, where it seems that your reservation is with them, kayak lets you pick the company, and you book directly with that company. I get nervous when there is a middleman involved!!

Check out Dollar. I just put in your dates and got a rate of $185 for full size, with tax and all charges included. Don't put in any coupon codes, and when the car choices come up, click on the city special rate. Not sure how long it will last though. Good luck!! :goodvibes

Oh yes I have had my current rate locked in since mid-July... for awile I was modifying almost daily. But for over a month now nothing has touched those rates.

I still have 2 reservations, full size and a MidSize SUV. Can't decide???

UGH --- My dates (9/20-9/30) have gone up by over $40. I have a great price but I want an ever better price.

I just got a fantastic rate using the American Airlines ID 7014136 (just have to join their frequent flyer club for free)

Go to Dollar, plug in your dates, then select 'city specials' For your dates I saw a rate of $88.74 (base rate) and $136.30 with taxes, etc. for a mid-size car. It changes day to day, but we use Dollar quite often and have found the best rates usually 2-3 weeks out from our trip.
