Sept 2012 car rental......

About 2 weeks ago I was able to get $121 out the door for a full size at Alamo, dates 9/1-9/8 - pick up/drop off at MCO. I just checked the rates today, for a midsize the rate is $122 with all taxes...$147 for a full size. I used Costco code 7014627 and AA code AD2359FDF...HTH

Wow! Good job! I have been checking regularly for the last month or so for the EXACT same search (full size, same dates) and the best I have done is $137 with the Costco code, my insiders number and the AA code for $35 off.

Sorry but this is for costco members only....

Costco's travel site is offering Budget weekly rentals at discount now...

compact for $101, mid-size for $107, standard for $119 and full size for $118.79

You must book through costco travel to get these prices.

Sorry everyone else, I tried using the codes BCD#W852863 & coupon #MUGZ023 at Budget's website but rate show higher because budget dose not reflect the discounts in the quote.

From budget's website:

If you used a coupon for your reservation:
— savings are not reflected in your quoted rate. If your rental meets all coupon terms, a rate adjustment will be made when you pick up your car;

Costco travel's quote will show the discount

I just checked out this coupon on the Costco Travel site and got $123 for a full size for my dates (9/1 - 9/8). That is a very good price and included an additional driver. As I just wrote in my prev. post, I am currently at $137.00 at Alamo. I am torn about switching. I know the amount is pretty trivial at this point...but that is about one day of free parking at a park!

My reason for not just switching my reservation right away is that I have heard that occasionally there are minivans on the Full Size row at alamo. I am not counting on that, and my party will fit in a full size, but it would be great if we could stretch out in a mini van!

With alamo it is important to sign up for their insiders. Then you can skip the line, use the kiosk and go pick out your car. Some weird codes including insurance may bounce you from the kiosk to the line. I have never had a problem at the kiosk with costco, AA or other normal codes.

Doesn't the person at the gate ,that lets you out of the rental garage, check your drivers license, credit card and in this case Costco or BJ's cards, to see that the info on the rental is correct?

The exit booth agent checks the contract and license. The exit booth agent checks the license, credit card and contract if you use the kiosk and whatever else shows up at the bottom of the printout from the kiosk (like proof of round trip travel if you are using a debit card). They don't check things like Costco or BJ's cards.

Costco also has this as part of the reservation: ■W852863/MUGZ023 Offer valid on a compact (group B) or above car group, excluding specialty vehicles (group X). Dollars off applies to the time and mileage charges only on a minimum five-consecutive-day rental period. Taxes, concession recovery fee, vehicle license recovery fee, customer facility charges ($10/contract in CA) may apply and are extra. Optional products such as LDW ($29.99/day or less) and refueling are extra. Coupon is non-transferable, one coupon per rental. An advance reservation is required. Coupon may not be used in conjunction with any other coupon, promotion or offer except your Costco member discount. Renter must show Costco membership card at the time of rental. Coupon valid at participating Budget locations in the U.S. and Canada. Offer subject to vehicle availability at time of reservation and may not be available on some rates at some times.
Not sure this is applicable, but, it should be noted just in case.

Been at a stale-mate with Alamo for over a month!

So many GREAT codes all ending Aug 31. NOTHING for September ( refering to Alamo's upgrade codes)

IF September is Slow Season, where are all the incentives???

:drive:

If you book on Alamo's website using Costco ID 7014627 and E-Coupon AD2359FDF for $35 off you can get a Standard (free upgrade to fullsize at MCO since no standard aisle) the total inc taxes is $115.

I just booked a minivan at Alamo's website using Costco ID 7014627 and E-Coupon AD2359FDF for Sept 11th-18th for $237.60 total price..

When you put in these codes it states you may need to show a coupon.
What coupon do you have to show and where can I get it?
Thanks for posting

For the American Airline coupon to qualify just register for American's AAdvantage program for free online, and print the membership card and your qualified.

For the Costco ID you supposed to be a Costco member. But you can use AA's ID #7014136 although the discount will be less..

People have been posting that they have not been checked for proof to use these discounts and ID's but personally I would rather be safe than sorry.

Good luck

Thanks I will sign up for the American Airlines one. Plus my company has a costco card.

Jumping in to watch as well as ask a bunch of questions. This is our first time flying to Disney so I am hoping we can get a good deal. We are costco members and I joined the Alamo Insiders...is that all I need to do other than just continue to wait?

How does Alamo work at the airport? Can we do online check in the night before our early morning flight and then DH can just go pick up the car without going to a line? My mom & I are going to take Magic Express (I've always wanted to ride, lol) and DH is going to get the car so we will put it in his name but I was reading about using a kiosk and then just going to pick out your car...is that how it works with Alamo? We are flying Airtran and have no clue about the airport, is it easy to get to the rental cars?

I also saw something about Alamo not having a standard size cars...is that correct as well? We want a full size so can we book a standard and still get it? If I have a coupon for a free upgrade, can I book a full-size then get a premium? Sorry for all the questions, we are total rental car newbies and have never been to MCO.

Thanks!

Yes alamo is inside the terminal the cars are located in the parking deck. Alamo has rental kiosks so you can avoid the counter, just scan the bar code on your reservation. Inside the deck cars are parked in rows according to class and you pick one that's in the row. As you exit the employee at the exit booth checks you paperwork finalizes the rental and your done.

At MCO the rental car companies are located in Terminal A and Terminal B on the Ground Transportation Level (Level 1). You can go to MCO's website they have maps and directions.

If anyone uses a Costco code without a membership in the next 6 weeks, could you please report back? Right now i have two reservations (one w/ Costco and one w/o)...using the code saves me about $20 but that's not worth getting stopped at the gate and having to pay full price because they say my discount isn't valid. (I have no Costco nearby so joining isnt an option.) I'm sure gmeh1 knows the deal but I'd feel better with some other firsthand reports, too.

I signed up for AAdvantage but I did not get a coupon emailed to me

There are so many organizations that provide similar discounts-why not use something you are a member of and won't have to worry about? For a difference of 20, I wouldn't take a chance of having to pay full price. Also, not trying to flame, but I pay about 50/year for my Costco membership- I'm all for everyone getting a great deal, but don't want to lose out on my discount if a large amount of non-members book it. Really not trying to be snarky at all, just sayin.

You don't need to have it emailed you to the discount is offered by Alamo. They might ask if your a AAdvantage member and you are now. Below is a link of the offer from alamo's website:

https://www.alamo.com/index.do?action=/hotDealsTemplate&msg=Alamo_American2008specials-35-off

The coupon is the American Airlines Valley Offer usable by AAdvantage members (which you are now). Just show them your card if they ask for it.

Thank you. But what coupon is it asking me to show?
When I enter to codes it says you may be asked to show the coupon you are using? Is that just the AAdvantage card?

Thanks again for this rate. It saves me $30 and adds me as the second driver!!

Yes, just the AA membership will be proof enough if they even ask for it.
