Sept 2012 car rental......

HOLLA!

The Costco/AA dropped my rate $40 more bucks! Yeeeha! :cool1:

Wow..... Just got a great deal at Ft Myers for a week in Sept. with Alamo using the Costo code and another code posted on this site. A total of $97.64 for one full week for a full size car. GREAT! Thanks to all of you for the great info.

Thanks to tww369 I am also registered at the Kiosh so no need to stop by the counter. Amazing what great info is available on this site. I check it daily!

So I've booked two reservations for mini-vans from Sep 25-Oct 6, one from Dollar for $353.91 and one from Alamo for $360.89. I've used Alamo a lot and that's why I booked with them, but Dollar is a bit cheaper and I was wondering what people's experience with them is like?

rates are down on Alamo site for compact - standard. for the week of Sept 8 -15.. No change in Minivans yet :worried:

mini van at Alamo went up for me about $20.
I still have a van at Alamo and Dollar. I still don't know what to keep.

Will Alamo take the corporate Costco card or no?

I don't see why they wouldn't.. Costco is Costco :)

I redid my reservation due to the decent drop in rates early-mid Sept, and found something weird. When the screen appeared to choose the car size, the rates for standard size were less than full size. When I choose standard size, the total was 152. When I chose full size, the total was 138, due to an additional discount applying. I went back and checked, and it appears some of size classes are getting an additional discount, but not the standard size. I've never had that happen before (usually they all have that discount, or none have it). So, you may want to recheck your totals for full size if you've reserved a standard. You may end up saving a few bucks!

Thanks.. One last question

If I use Alamo and go to the Kiosk and not the counter, who do I give my CC to, to pay? Who do I show my Costco card to, and would they take a copy so that I don't have to bring my Costco card wtih me to FL?

Dollar charges $10/day extra for the additional driver so I prefer Alamo with the free additional driver.

you run your cc at the kiosk, you show your i.d and paper work at the booth when your leaving the parking garage. I have never been asked to see my costco card (some may have) A copy of your company card should be fine but you could email Alamo just for peace of mind

Just rebooked again at Alamo because rate went down. Have full size reservation from sept 8th thru the 14th for a little under $130. This was using the entertainment double upgrade coupon. (contract ID 7015793 and coupon code AU4234FDA). In the past they have always asked for the coupon at the desk, but have never asked for my entertainment card. Also, not sure if they are still doing it, but entertainment.com was selling 2012 leftover books for $5 with no shipping a couple weeks ago.

Hope this helps someone! :)

Hi! I haven't had a chance to read this whole thread, but I did read some of it. I have a few questions. Sorry if they have already been answered.

1.) I understand you can change / cancel your Alamo reservation at anytime. There's a chance we may change our drop off date to a day earlier if flight prices drop. Can I change my Alamo reservation and keep my same rate or would I be changing to whatever the rate it that day?

2.) Alamo kiosk - Do I need to do anything special to use the kiosk? I've never rented a car before so I'm a newbie. Where is it located at MCO?

3.) Do you fill up the car before drop off? Is there a gas station nearby?

4.) I want a full size car. I thought I read you could book a standard and you will get a full size b/c there are no standards at MCO. Can anyone confirm this?

5.) Right now, best rate I'm finding is using Alamo insider code, AA $35 off link, and Costco code. Do I need to show any membership cards when leaving?

Any other tips would be great. Thanks in advance!

I was checking Alamo versus Budget yesterday for our trip next week. I already have a Budget reservation and when I logged into my Alamo site there was a double upgrade coupon. So, I priced it out at Alamo and it was $3.00 cheaper than my current Budget reservation. I called Budget to ask a question about my reservation ( I couldn't remember if it was a single or double upgrade coupon on it) and explained to them the Alamo deal. I was told my coupon was for a single upgrade, I then asked if they would match the Alamo offer. They did and I got it for $9.00 cheaper. So we've got a premium rental for 4 days for $119.00., I'm thrilled!!

1. Yes, you can change your reservation anytime. As to the rate, it will depend on if you go from a weekly rate (starts at a five day rental) to a daily rental. Generally, the rate will not change.
2. No, nothing special, just follow the prompts. They are located in the main termnal (both sides) by the rental counter. Be prepared to show your license and credit card at the exit booth along with the print out from the kiosk. The bottom of the print out will telll you what the exit agent will need to see.
3. Yes, you do fill up the car before you return it. There are many gas stations around.
4. There is no Standard section at MCO, you will select from the full size row.
5. Generally not, but, I would have it with me just in case.
