Sept 2012 car rental......

Wow, you guys are getting some great rates! Thanks to some of your posts, I was able to book a compact car at Dollar with the City rate for $416 for 2 weeks. Still not great, but better - thanks! Is early October an expensive time? Our trip starts in late September. I'm wondering if that's why prices seem so much higher compared to some of your quotes, or maybe it's just too early still.

Nope, your traveling at a great time of year !! Your just a little early yet on rental deals.. start booking at about 6 weeks out and then rebook everytime the price goes down.. which is often till about a week out. Our beginning of Sept. is just starting to move :hippie:

what coupons did you use? I checked through costco and it was still 279..
I just checked my code again and it's up to 288 - guess maybe try first thing in the mornings, I've done that the last 2 days and had better rates then.

Enter your dates on the main page. It says Start Here for our lowest rates. Click Get Rates. The nest page will list car types and rates. You will see a line in orange that says CITY SPECIAL. Click the green button that says Check for city special.

Thanks so much. I figured out what I was doing wrong, dummy me :confused3, I am renting out of Charlotte, NC airport and not Orlando. I should have made that clear. I do so appreciate your help though. Nice folks on Disboards !!!:thumbsup2

Just booked minivan for September 12 - 18 for $207.93/week at Dollar Orlando International Airport. Entered date and clicked on City Special. :cool1:

I have to rent a car for one day to take the kiddies ( dh, ds x2) to Legoland. What is my best option. I would be ok with a small compact car as its only for the day

Well, all-in, with mandatory taxes and fees, Dollar and Thrifty are charging $280.

If the All-In price was $207 I would drop my full size Alamo rental (all-in for about $140) and get the van...but it would be nearly double for me to upgrade to the van.

As far as van rentals go, this looks to be the best price right now.

just rebooked thru Costco.. Minivan for Sept 7-15.. $249.92 total :thumbsup2

Enterprise. Dollar was actually $5 cheaper on their website with Coupon : KISSE

Great deal! We're staying 9/6 - 9/15 and renting out of Orlando Airport.

So far I have a minivan booked for Enterprise through Costco for $275.62 (booked on 7/26). Still shopping around to see if I can do better though. Ran the prices again this morning and looks like they've jumped up nearly $100.

I just checked Costco and my $279 mini-van rate that I booked on 7/25/12 had jumped to $430. Wow, still hoping they will go down some more before departure date.

Prices did jump back up this a.m :sad2:. you just got to keep checking everyday. Thank goodness we update each other:grouphug: Dis peeps Rule !!

Agreed on price jump this AM...checked my Alamo insiders ID and the AA $35off code and it was about $40 higher for my one week full-size rental.

Still hoping for a super-cheap mini van deal to come out, but not counting on it.
