Sept. 2009 @ WDW! Be a Pop Tart 2009~come share your(Bounce Back or NOT)Dates !!!

Jan, ummm you mean that if we call you names you will come around more often? Shall I start making a list? :rotfl2: Each person has a special place round these parts and when all are not here we are not 'all there'. Of course, there are some of us who are NEVER 'all there' regardless. :lmao:

Jan, what you going to have to eat at Le Cellier? Have some for me too please. I hope you find low temps and crowds and get every ADR your little heart desires.

M&N, any celebrating going on round your parts for the holiday? Any more thoughts on a potential December trip? I keep hoping that you will get to come.

Ang, skinny folk have no idea what us larger sized folks go through in our attempts to lose weight. I figure it is akin to me not understanding folks with alcohol or drug problems. It is hard to understand something that you do not suffer from. I think the secret is to never give up though. Food is legal and everywhere.:scared1:

Diva K, what fantastic plans do you have for the weekend? I like reading about things that I do not have the energy to do. I figure that 'bodice rippers' are going to be my next thing, that and recipe books and exercise videos.

Waiting for me to check in? I do not want you all to die of boredom. The most exciting thing is that I went to the dump yesterday and then hit Menard's for their B2G1F sale on landscape rocks and got enough to do a side garden edging. Plumb wore me out lugging those things onto the cart, then into the car trunk and then putting them in place. It was made easier by virtue of the fact that I could park the car right near the spot though.

Scales are down but since legs still hurt badly I know that I still have much water in my system. Am thinking congestive heart failure since I had a friend with such. It is far scarier sounding than it actually is though. I am like a classic car in needing many more repairs nowadays to keep me running.

BTW, any of you who are on FB, please do not break my cover. :rotfl: The new lady, Linda, is a former classmate of mine from HS and still suffers from the delusion that I am quiet and shy as I once was. :dance3: I have a feeling that she has overcome hers as well though. She has been in a wheelchair for many years. It is sad to know that she has had such a hard life but seems to have a loving family so that is something.

SG

hello,
Just checking in. We have been busy doing soccer games 2 on Friday and 2 on Saturday. Will is actually getting some nice muscle tone from all the working out he does with soccer and conditioning gym class. He is all proud of it.

SG,
You will be proud of me. We had to go through a state inspection of our company and I was so stressed out getting all the paperwork and everything ready for them to inspect (as usual DH was not helping at all) that I actually said out loud for the first time that I wished I was at Disney World and was looking forward to going in October. lol We passed the state inspection with only two things to change too.

As for weight issues, I am there with you sister. Not only is food legal but we have to eat a certain amount of it to survive. If I could go cold turkey and never eat again like I did with cigarettes I would be cured permenantly but I would also be in the grave soon after. Then again knowing my body and the way it doesn't work it would find a way to gain weight off the water and black coffee I drink. lol

So who on the list still has a trip coming up?

Ang

LOL Miss Angela, I are not proud at all BECAUSE I knew this would happen. Disney World is a bit like childbirth, right afterward we swear we shall never repeat the experience but then, after a period of time, we remember the good things that came from the pain and are raring to do it again. Othewise the world would be populated by one child families and there would be no WDW at all.:rotfl2:

I truly feel that we sometimes expect far too much of DW, mostly it is their fault because they do give us more than we get elsewhere, even on their worst days. When we read TR's of things that others experienced it is possible that we feel that we should get each and everything also. It is sort of like life, we need to slow down and enjoy where we are without worrying about what happened before or might come along later.

I have never had two trips exactly alike but when I put bits and pieces of each trip together they do add up to perfection. May you find what you are looking for on this trip and if not may you enjoy what you do find. I know you will. You are that kind of person.

Hooray for passing the inspection with flying colors. Why should Al stress over paperwork when he knows that you will do it to perfection? :woohoo:

Would Will like the Goofy hat to go with his new muscles? With teens it is difficult to know, from week to another, what they might find cool or uncool. I will mail it if the answer is in the affirmative.

Not too much...this and that....kinda enjoying the free weekend especially since DS is playing flag football and baseball this fall...our weekends from here out will be full of games

Hey Diva K, glad you are getting a bit of a rest this weekend. I hear you on the sports filled weekends. My grandson does it all and I am there for most everything. Tires me out just watching and from reports it does him too.

Are those the only two sports that your son is doing this summer? I think it is better to pick a couple as opposed to doing it all. I will root for him as long as he is not playing against Dalton. :lmao:

Just talked to my older grandson and he was laying up in a hammock drinking a smoothie. Great life they are having this weekend. Home tomorrow and back to the real world.

Good morning everyone! Hope all of you are well.

Diva K, what is going on in your area? My BFF that lives in Garden Ridge said her air conditioning is now out. Guess it was so hot none of the units could stand it. I can't imagine two sports going on at the same time. Just dealing with Jacob in Soccer made us crazy, especially on those doube header days.

Ang, glad to hear you remembered some of the magic. I keep thinking I'm a little tired of WDW and wonder if I was nuts to buy those passes and then after a day or two I'm trying to figure out when to go back.

MNSSHP was great. I think all of the CM's did a great job and I expected some issues with it being the first night but I didn't see any. As you probably saw on FB Jonas got sick from some food, but was ok the next day. Not having ADR's was very nice. We had one sit down meal at ESPN Club. I think we will be heading back over there. Also got to see a couple getting their pictures before their wedding. It was being held at the Swan and Dolphin with the Boardwalk in the background.

Oops, gotta go walk. Have a great day everyone!

Its actually cooling off down here...80-90's and we are getting a little bit of rain! :umbrella:
Sounds like thunderbird will have quite a tale to tell when she gets a chance to check in! :chat:

SG,
Kids have so much energy. I remember the days of school sports but I don't think they were as intense into them as the schools are nowadays. Will has practice for 2 1/2 hours every night M-F even on days off of school unless it is a game night. Then there is last hour conditioning class. There are 2-3 game days a week and those days they get out of school 35 minutes early and are not home till between 8-9pm. Schools are very spread out in the boonies and they have to be there for 2 games a night. I am just happy they have transportation. Only football games are allowed on Fridays so soccer games are M-Th and the two Saturday games.

Yesterday DS got home at 8:45 and same will happen tonight. He had to get home and shower, eat dinner, do homework and set up the bookbag and sports bag. He got in bed around 11pm and didn't get all the homework finished. I keep warning him that if he gets a C- in any class he will not only get kicked off soccer but they will refuse to allow him to take drivers ed next semester. Right now he is getting a C in Algebra so it won't be long. I am waiting to see if the teachers give special privileges to the sports kids like extra time to do the work instead of the instant 0's for late work so this should be interesting.

Kristin, I honestly have no idea how you do 2 sports and school.

Does anyone else have to go online to print out homework packets that they are supposed to download online to save the school paper and ink?

Melissa,
Sad to say that I wasn't remembering the magic so much as remembering how much easier it is to only have ADR's to show up for and no issues to deal with for work, home, and children. I guess no worries can be seen as magic though. lol

Glad you enjoyed MNSSHP. I heard it is cursed to always get pouring rain the first night but it seems that this year broke the curse. I was there for that first night of MNSSHP one year and got water logged but had fun doing it.

I barely get on facebook but Sorry to hear Jonas got sick but glad it was only food related since that passes within a day unlike cold and flu.

Timmy introduced us to ESPN club in June and the appetizers were awsome. I love Boardwalk.

Hope you enjoyed your walk.

Angela

Ahh!!! those are the temps I like. How about you send me the heat and I will send you the 40's-50's at night that we are getting. :rotfl: Seriously, glad to hear you are getting some relief finally. :thumbsup2

Safe and sound, though we weren't sure there for a while, lol. I'll post all about it once I get a little more caught up here at home. I may have to do a trip report just for the airplane ride(s) home--it was quite an adventure. I know Jan and Nancy and maybe a couple more of you are heading out soon, so hope you enjoy your trips as much as we did ours (but hope you get to skip the trip down the emergency slide on your flights home).

Talk to you all soon!

:scared1: OMG!! Hope you are all okay!!! Nothing like leaving us hanging!!;) So glad you otherwise had a great trip. :goodvibes

SG ~ please tell me for the umpteenth time your Decemebr dates again? Looks like 12/10 -12/14 may be a serious possiblity for me - please tell me you'll still be there??

Sorry - I skimmed today...will be sure to catch up soon. ((hugs)) to all .

Still not caught up (at home or online) but getting there. M&N--hope December works out for you--that would be awesome for you to hang with Linda! Sending pixie dust!

Stumbled across this in between loads of laundry and thought of all of you right away:

"Hitler Wants Le Cellier" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jlfc8zZF7Wc

Jennifer, I had seen that before. :rotfl2: Love it! I hate that I missed you, at WDW and Tampa. Glad you finally made it home safely. Guess I can't complain about 4-5 hour delays anymore.

Ang, I meant to say :cheer2: for passing the inspection. Also, that is crazy about Will's practice times. Are kids allowed to be in more than one sport? How in the world would they do it. I hope you do find some of that magic. At least it will be cooler, it was miserable when you were here and I know you like heat better than cold, but :scared1:.

No, we don't have to print out homework to save ink. Jacob's math teacher tried to start something like that last year, but didn't explain the system well enough and it silently went away. Sometime I would like that so I know what Jacob's homework is. He came home with 6 different papers yesterday and I had no idea what was really his homework. He never know either.:confused3

M&N, oh I hope you get to go in December.

At least Friday is almost here. Have a great weekend everyone!

Wait I have to get on facebook it sounds like that must be where TB's airline story is. Sounds interesting.

Linda,
I just talked to Will about the hat and he said he would wear it. He said it can be his new Disney hat. Not that I ever get him wearing a hat for long before he takes it off. lol Thank you for offering it.

Melissa,
We went in October of 05 and it was freezing here when we left but it was broiling at WDW. It was high 80's low 90's with heat indexes from the mid 90's to lower 100's so I am hoping this year it is not more of the same. I just figure it is always hot when I go to Disney. I am the jinx so figure it will be hot. lol I do remember it getting cooler at night in October than it did in June though. This was the first trip to Disney that it was warm enough for me to swim at night with Will which was nice.

Will the school work with you if you send in an assignment book with Jacob where he writes in assignments and the teachers initial if the all the homework is written in? That is what we did for Will starting in 3rd grade and it worked for the most part. There was a teacher here and there who didn't want to be bothered though. I don't remember if you said they already do that but it helps Will keep organized. Sounds like Jacob listens and remembers as well as William does. lol

Sorry, things have been sort of hectic here. My stepdaughter, just a few years younger than myself, is in the hospital in OK and I am trying to keep up with what is going on with her and trying to make sure she will be alright. She will have gallbladder surgery tomorrow. It had progressed to pancreaitis and they had to work on that first. She was thinking she would be able to drive herself home and I had to tell her differently, along with a lot of other things. I called her tonight and made Tom get on the phone to talk to her and then informed him that he was not going to the Senior Center tomorrow in case anything went wrong. Do not need a blood test to tell that those two are related. Have a feeling that I will be digging up rent, utilities and food money as she does not work much and saves less. Just, please let her be alright. Her mother is on her deathbed with cancer and she does not need that along with everything else. I would not care for it either. :sad2:

Ang, I will pack up the hat and send it in the next couple of days. Will might enjoy this hat cause it is so silly, like me. When I see how easy my oldest grandson's homework is and how hard his brother's is I shake my head. How do you know what his grades are so far? I read about a school website where they used traffic light colors to tell parents how their child was doing in different classes. Seemed to work better than letter grades they said. My grandson's grades went way up when a driver's license was atg stake. They have since went down. Hoping this year will be better.

TB, were you on that plane they showed on TV with the smoke problem and they evacuated everyone on the slide? Was it fun? Hey, we pay big bucks at DW to be scared to death and you got it for free. :scared1: I am glad that you got home safely.

M&N, I am booked from November 29th thru December 13th. Please let me know if you get your wish. We will make some plans.

JM, the state of Indiana did away with the parent teacher conferences as of this year. It is a small community and some folks call the teachers at home but I never did like intruding on their time that way. I used to grade papers for some of them so they could a night off once in awhile. They have also started doing a background check on all volunteers which costs a bunch of money so it is not as easy to go to the schools anymore. It is sort of silly as most of us have been known for years, if not generations. Guess they have to do ALL though for legal reasons.

SG

SG,
Don't worry about the hat as it sounds like you have enough worries and things to organize. I do hope your DIL has everything go well and heals fast and easy.

Everything is online for our school now so you must check the website often or you will miss things. My friend missed pictures because nothing came home unless the parents told the kids to pick up the picture envelope info at the office. She didn't see it on the website and is upset since it is the first year she didn't get pictures. She will get better pictures from Walmart for much less money though.

Anyway the grades are updated online weekly or daily depending on the teacher. As soon as they put grades in their online gradebook it automatically sends an email to the parent telling them to check the website and log in to get the info. Kind of neat but I feel sorry for anyone without internet access.

We still get parent teacher confrences though. lol We will be on vacation for ours but in reality everything is online so the only thing I will miss is meeting the teachers face to face. We have background checks now too and I have one on file with the school. I am thankful they do them now since in 4th grade the school didn't know one of the fathers who went on an overnight field trip was a registered child sex offender. Thank goodness nothing happened that I know of and Will stayed home for that trip. It was another parent and I who went in to informed the school of their error. The next year anyone helping in the school for anything had to have criminal background checks done. I really thought the school would know of any parents on the sex offenders list but I guess not.

Sorry for not responding personally, but wanted to at least get the story out, since some of you haven't heard, and I didn't post much on FB.

SWA flight 1245 left Orlando at 4:50 on 9/7 (Labor Day). Shortly after takeoff, an alarm went off in the back of plane, and the pilot announced we would be landing in Tampa to "check things out." We were told to stay in our seats, since we'd most likely be taking off again shortly. We were also told that we would be greeted by fire trucks, but that was just protocol. We landed around 5:30, and were surrounded by fire trucks (more than a dozen, according to the local news). A couple of guys in silver suits (fireproof, I'd imagine--more than what the usual firefighters wear) approached the rear of the plane inspected it, then went back to the trucks.

At that point, we were told that we would be "evacuating the plane immediately, using the emergency slides at the front and rear exits. Do not take any of your belongings with you--just cross your arms and jump." We did (ds yelling "wheeeee!" all the way down the slide --after all, he'd just spent 3 weeks at WDW riding malfunctioning service elevators (ToT), out of control railroads (both BTMRR and EE), and space shuttles encountering meteor showers (M:S), so an airplane slide was just like another ride), and then herded together on the tarmac for the next 30 minutes. Shuttle busses then took us over to the charter terminal (where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fly out of, for you sports fans), where we were held for another 45 minutes or so. Finally, we were brought over to the main terminal in groups of 15 or 20 and were allowed to reboard the original plane to retrieve our personal belongings, then placed in line to board a new plane.

That plane took off around 7:30, and landed in Denver 3 hours later. Those that were getting off in Denver got off; those that were going on to SLC stayed on board; those of us destined for the West Coast deplaned and were placed on a plane to Las Vegas. We arrived in Vegas around 10:30, were given our new boarding passes for the following day along with hotel vouchers, and were shuttled over to a Hampton Inn for the night. The following morning, we returned to the airport and left around 12:30 pm for Portland (with a stop in Sacramento). We arrived in Portland around 4:30 pm--approximately 24 hours after leaving Tampa. 6 airports in 5 states in just over 24 hours--must be some kind of record, lol.

Seriously, we're fine, the kids are fine (dd got a little upset on the tarmac, but it turned out that was because she thought she wouldn't get her cell phone and ipod back ), and at least it happened at the end of the trip instead of the beginning (because missing a day of school is nothing, but no way was I gonna miss my Boma ADR, lol).

Sorry to leave you in suspense--I guess I just assumed everyone had heard about it (because it was about ME, and the world revolves around ME, doesn't it?) and knew that everything was okay. Here's a link to the news story, for those who want to hear the official version:

Yeah the slide sounds like fun but I would have freaked out when the alarm went off while in the sky.

It was never here on our news but I am sooooo glad you and your family are ok.

By the way I just noticed on your facebook page last night that you grew up a few towns away from me. :yay:
