Sept. 2009 @ WDW! Be a Pop Tart 2009~come share your(Bounce Back or NOT)Dates !!!

SG, I'm like you. The more info we have, the less rumors can be spread. I noticed the guest trying to help also. I'm sure a lot of people are complaining about the monorail being down.:sad2: Probably since we were at a non-monorail resort and park we didn't hear as much as others. Timmy was going to Epcot today so I am wondering what she will hear.

The last time we were co-pilots the pilot was young, so Jonas and I were concerned it was him until we saw the pilots picture. Very sad someone so young.

Glad you got the garage done. That is a great idea to stop and smell the roses. I'm taking a little break from cleaning house myself. Trying to get all of the photos from yesterday uploaded. The therapy place just called and said Jacob didn't need to be there until 1:30 instead of 1:00 today.:cheer2: Gives me a little more time to get some stuff done.

Oh, and here is a shocker, haven't seen Beauty and the Beast either. Timmy would have taken me but she said it was too hot for that one. I also have never seen the 3:00 parades at any of the parks, until yesterday when I got to see the one they have at DHS. We are always too busy riding rides.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

I thought I would share a couple of pics from yesterday since I finally got them uploaded:

SG,
Glad to hear you got that mess cleaned up. Did you put it in a pretty bowl so Tom could enjoy it for dinner? You know what they say about paybacks. Hope you enjoy your time off.

Where do you get your Lowe's coupons? We are about to put down new flooring in 3 rooms and our front porch and found what we want at Lowes. It would be great to get money off the price and I signed up for the 10% coupon on the website but they have not emailed it in the last 3 days so I fear I won't get it.

MN,
Sorry to hear about your Aunt but glad you found lost family.

Kristin,
What town did you live in when you lived in the Chicago area?

Melissa,
It looks like you are having lots of fun and are able to visit with Timmy. She is hilarious isn't she? It has to be so much more relaxed for you staying on site rather than driving an hour each way?

I was so saddened to hear of the monorail crash and I feel so bad for the pilots family.

Take care,
Ang

Ang
Country Club Hills (there was neither a country club or hills! :confused3)
South of the city...near Hazel Crest, Homewood, Tinley Park...

I know exactly where that is and had friends I worked with from that area. I agree no hills in that area. lol

I grew up in Westchester near Oak Brook just west of the loop if you know where that is. Close to where Minnie and Nana lived in Oak Park.

Ang, are you getting caught up on everything? I leave for a day and have 50 emails due to the Disboards and Facebook.

I always feel like you lose a little magic not staying overnight at WDW. I told Timmy I'm worried that since we are staying onsite at Universal and won't have to deal with all the lines like at WDW I'll lose some of the magic, but I sure hope not.

More house cleaning for me today. Hopefully I'll get it all done today and then tomorrow just a quick cleaning of the floors.

Hope you all have a great day!

Beauty & the Beast is a favorite...I can understand how you might of missed Little Mermaid and Beauty & the Beast if you don't have a girl...another easily overlooked attraction @DS is Walt Disney: One Man and His Dream...I cry every time!
Had never done The Magic of Animation before last September with The Divas...looking forward to sharing that with my family next month! :hyper:

The Walt Disney attraction is one of my favorites also. It probably would have been overlooked, but on our first trip we were trying to figure out what to do before an adr. This CM walked up and asked what we were looking for and when we explained our time limit, he pulled out a Blackberry or something that showed him all of the wait times and said we didn't have time for any rides, but pointed us to the Walt Disney attraction. One of those magical memories I will never forget.

We just saw The Magic of Animation a month ago ourselves.

My BFF Vickie sent me her maps showing what all she wanted to do and had left off Nemo at AK. I told her she had to see it if we had time.

Heard you were getting rain Kris. That is wonderful news!

Melissa,
I could never have read through all my emails. In fact after a few days my ISP (yes I am still on dial up, the joys of country living) couldn't keep up with the volume and shut down my mail box. I deleted almost all of my emails and just started from scratch.

My newest project is to tile 3 rooms of the house and get 3 new windows put in. We will tile ourselves this way if DH gets bored and doesn't want to finish I will.

We also need to buy three windows and hire a person to put them in. I learned never to let DH put in windows. He put in a new window in our dining room but didn't know how to measure the window and failed to mention it so I could research it for him. He bought a window he figured sounded like a good size and then created a monster of a job that he got bored with and didn't want to finish till I got on his case about it. Then I will have to find a way to convince him that we need to move since it will be ready to sell. lol I have been working on getting him to move for 10 years and I know he will break one of these days. I think he figures once it is all nice I will not want to move but that will never happen. lol

Ang

Ang, I asked Jonas if we could retile the bathroom ourselves and his answer was "NO!". I understand having to stay on the hubby to get stuff done. I know it isn't funny, but you have to laugh about your DH and the window. Jonas decided he would try replacing our thermostat one time and I remember asking him if we had a heat pump since it required a different thermostat. Of course he says No, but it was.:sad2: Needless to say we had no heat on the coldest night of the year. I think Jacob was about 3 months old. We moved a mattress into the living room and used the fireplace. It was the one and only time we used our fireplace. The electrician we ended up calling got a kick out of it.

If we decided to keep this house the windows would be replaced. For some reason they use single pane windows. :confused3 Every new home we looked at had them, I thought double pane was the standard. We had them in Texas.

Well, my last day of cleaning before Kara arrives. Not much more to do at least. Except my other Boston Terrier keeps getting sick to her stomach so I need to run her into the vet at some point. I hope its just a bug and not that she misses Mozart, which I'm sure she does. They were together 12 years.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Hi Ang-check out HD. I ordered 3 replacements last week, of course we can't have standard size windows so they had to be spec ordered. They were running a 15% off sale & I used to movers coupon from post office. They came in about $100 less than Menards & Lowes. We have also replaced three rooms of flooringm but with laminate. I love that that stuff, so easy to clean and almost destruction proof.

J will install our windows, he has done all the flooring too. I have painted rooms & taken care of the woodwork. The yard is a continuing project, the office & basement (boys domain) are our two biggest projects. We will have to get moving on those this weekend.
Hey I have an idea? I know of a great house for you! Almost everything is new, nice & clean. Are you interested?:rotfl2::rotfl::hippie:

JM, missing B&B is not so very much anymore but you missed 4 for a Dollar and that is something to feel badly about. You might do a Youtube search and see them there. The really hard time about any tiling job is cutting the tiles. I have done several simple projects.

Ang, hire someone and have them install the windows you will save much money as well as frustration. BTW, you do know that if you buy the right windows you can qualify for a tax credit?? We have some Amish folk in this area who do a great job with windows and such. I have done much research and have found that new windows will not pay for themselves. My windows are over 100 years old and then we have nice storm windows over them so that effectively makes them double paned. Caulking is more effective in saving money. Unless, of course, you want windows that open and close and are easier to clean. I see you have someone else who wants you to move next to them. You are sooooo popular. Might be Will though. :rotfl:

Bonz, any news on your potential move and where that might be?

I had my last eye appt yesterday. Still having trouble reading the monitor. One eye is near and one is far and the monitor is in the middle. Hope that does not cause trouble when I go to get my driver's license next week.

From all the reports I should be glad that Tom does nothing. He is in a foul mood. Lovely. Just what I need on top of everything else.

Cleaning the car today. It needs it too.

Linda

Good morning Linda:flower3: Sure do miss talking to ya, will keep you in our prayers. Eyes are scary to have problems with. Can't get motivated to start working yet:rolleyes1

We are looking around Laporte/St. Joe area, although I'd rather it be in Orlando. Going from bad to worse concerning weather issues. I'd like to keep the kids in a certain school district. See what happens:upsidedow

Sorry about DH's mood, can you slip a mickey(:rotfl:) in his food? I go shopping when we have that here:rotfl2::lmao:. Have a great day!

Bonz,
Two words NO WAY!!! You live about as far in the middle of no mans land as I do now. How about you buy our house. Your DH can come and clean house in our school district so the kids have a great school to get their education at. lol

Thanks for the heads up about Menards. Where at the Post office is the Home Depot coupon?

I should have said we are putting in laminate not tile but they are laminate tiles. I refuse to clean grout which is a major pain. I have tile under our pellet stove and that area is bad enough to clean.

Nice to hear from you.

Ang

Gee, I feel like I live in a metropolitan area hearing about Ang and Bonz. :rotfl: BTW, Ang and her hubby were thrilled with the many one story houses in my area. I sure do not live in one of them though. Just got my property tax bill and we owe nearly $350 this year, not semi annually, yearly. It pays to live in 'poor' circumstances. :goodvibes

Ang, I sent you some Lowe's code sites but I clicked on a few and nothing came up. You just have to check from time to time, Google "Lowe's coupons" and sometimes they are there and sometimes they are not. Works for restaurants etc. also. Ruby Tuesday has been having loads of B1G1F coupons lately and they have some really good food. Their hamburger platters (the best I have ever seen) are under $8 per.

Bonz, I have heard a lot about the LaPorte area and not too much good. I am thinking high crime, bad schools etc. Might be wrong but I am a news hound and watch a lot of news shows. You do not want to move down here as one of our principals just ran away with a local lady. :rotfl2:Big scandal.

It was nice and cool today and I only got a bit of outside work done. I will regret that.

Sunday I plan to go see a showing of Annie by our local community theater group. One of these days I am going to get enough courage to go try out for a role myself. It would have to be a 'character' role.

If I went shopping every time Tom was in a bad mood we would be in more trouble than we already are. Money is in short enough supply and if I do not do the work it does not get done and we cannot afford to pay for much work to be done by anyone else. One would think that in this economy you could find someone willing to work for $10 per hour. One days work would buy a week's groceries. I used to do such when I was younger. But, alas, no takers to be found.

SG/who is German and likes things neat and clean (not always accomplished but it is my goal)

Bonz, I just had cataract surgery the end of last year. Normal for someone of my age. I had it done because I had all my cap paid in because of all the heart problems so it was free. These touchups are just because of a common problem that sometimes occurs (30% of the time) afterward. No problems. Only side effect is that I no longer wear glasses and since I have worn them my entire life it is very liberating. I can see far and I can see near, cannot see my small computer monitor worth a darned though. :rotfl:

The problem with laminate is that it is a tad bit slippery and not so good for older folk. I have beautiful wood floors underneath my carpeting but the reason I went to carpet was the fact that I could see every footprint and dot of dust on the wood floors. Drove me nuts. Carpet covers a multitude of sins, IF you can get folks to take off their shoes when they enter. :rotfl:

My neighbor is having his second knee done Monday so I will get extra exercise in mowing his yard for a bit. Pleases me to do something for a man who has done so very much for us. It hurts me to see him hobble. He has always been so active. I love him, in a non Peyton Place way.

Ang, please send pictures when you get all this done. It is rough living through the installation period but the rewards are huge. I often just sit and look at the finished work for hours afterward.

Back to work for me. Have to get the stuff ready to take to the landfill. It is amazing the amount of waste products we generate.

Kris, that was a lovely tribute and I have no doubt that every single word is the truth.

The thing that makes DW etc. special is the people. The guests and the CM's who believe that the world CAN be a better place and that we are each to do our share.

There is a commonality of spirit at DW etc. You can sit down with most anyone and find something in common. You know to start with what kind of person they are because they chose to come to DW.

The constraints that we often feel about talking to strangers falls away and we learn so much in the process.

I do not collect pins and such but I do collect stories. I think of the pilot and his family that I shared a parade with once when I hear of some airline news. I think of the teen homeschooled girl I met at the Poly and the smiles we shared. I think of the big family of fabulous children who I read about on the DIS quite often. The great gaggle of giggling Divas who I met on my last trip. A day shared at AK with a great gal and her adorable son. Late night pool parties with a grand gathering of DISers. I have many stories and I store them all in my heart but have room for many more.

::yes:: :thumbsup2 :hug:
(Isn't a gaggle a flock of geese?!?!? I don't know if I should be insulted or flattered! )

Diva K, I had considered pride, congregation, herd, or colony but those just seemed far too tame to describe you all.

Here are a few more that might suit you better, you pick.

Bevy, mischief, flutter, swarm, flamboyance, pandemonium, exhaultation, or cohorts. Your choice. :rotfl:

Want to have a battle of words? Bet you would be one who could match me word for word. In quality maybe but I will win on quantity. :rotfl2:

SG/Linda /it is raining so I have some time on my hands.
