Sept. 2009 @ WDW! Be a Pop Tart 2009~come share your(Bounce Back or NOT)Dates !!!

JM, I think it is good you stayed home. Sounds as if you body is craving some rest so it can heal up from whatever.

I think that Cheaters is a very good show to watch on Valentine's Day. Insures that he will behave himself until next Valentine's Day.:rotfl: Mine is so paranoid that he honestly thinks I have spies and if a woman even says hello to him he rushes home to report it. I have never bothered to set him straight.:dance3:

I have my desk mostly clean. It is my Sunday chore while listening to the talking heads.

I am going to Disneyland!!!! In just one month, I can't believe it. Family was tired (are they crazy?!) of WDW so Dh said "let's try Disneyland..." Wooohoo, can't wait!

:woohoo: Have fun!

Christine--glad the fingers are healing, and I, too, have heard great things about the Candy Cane Inn, though have never stayed there. Our last trip we stayed at the Best Western that's the closest non-Disney hotel to the park. Hotel was nothing special, but we did get a window that looked out on the park and monorail, and there's nothing like walking to and from and in between the parks!

Ang-- about your "yard sale." We are having the carpets cleaned next week, and desparately need to get rid of accumulated junk so that the cleaners can find the carpet to clean it. The worst is fighting our two little packrats, who are loathe to give up anything. We did manage to go through their plush collection yesterday, and came up with 3 bags (over 260 critters) that could be donated away. :woohoo:

DivaK--Thanks, as always, for the awesome flair! You always know how to keep our spirits up.

Poohbear--Is Disneyland itself not historical enough for the Mr.?

JM--I, too am not thrilled at the idea of not-so-hidden Mickeys (and Minnies, and Goofys, etc.) popping up in IASW. Linda's right--too often they make changes just for the sake of making changes. They're also removing (or have removed) the mickey head from California Screamin' roller coaster, and instead adding one to the Sun Wheel ferris wheel (renaming it "Mickey's Sun Wheel"). :confused3 I don't get it. Are there not better ways to bring new life to the parks?

Linda--congrats on your less than fabulous stuffed critter. Perhaps he could wear the pierced earrings? Otherwise, he can join the 260 little friends from my house over at Goodwill.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone!

Whoa! You mean to tell me that you can walk from the DL hotels to the parks? I had a vision of a bunch of off site hotels way off from the parks and lots of traffic to get to and from. I have read the Universal has lodging within walking distance but I do not care for their scary :scared1: rides. Ummm, might have to think about that but then I doubt that I would be able to drive there too easily. Guess I had better stick with DW. ;)

Getting ready to start working on our taxes. We do not have to fret about our financial manager stealing our money, I are she!

SG

Diva K, I got a bedraggled stuffed animal for Valentine's Day. I will add it to my collection, that I have never had. Wonder if the pierced earrings I got one year will fit it as I have never had pierced ears. I think I prefer the years I get nothing. I no longer make the effort either. Taking the day off, a bit, is my present to myself. How did you do?

Had a lovely evening @home with DH & DS...:lovestruc
heart shaped pizza (from Papa John's,) chocolate covered strawberries, wine, roaring fire and......
NBA All-Star Challenge on television! :happytv:
oh well, its was still nice, something for each of us...:dance3:

Diva K, sounds good to me too, especially the chocolate covered strawberries. :cool1: If I ate enough of them I would fall asleep and not have to hear the sports show. :lmao:

Holidays are not so bad around here since I figured out that if I do not bust my posterior doing for others I do not get near as aggravated when I am forgotten. Sounds worse than it is. I am old and have lost most of my nerve endings, no pain.

Spending the afternoon going over my December plans. Like I will not have to change them a million times between now and then but planning is half the fun and if I start early enough it can be twenty times as much. :rotfl:

Melissa,
My DH was brought up that he never had to pick up after himself. His mother would pick it all up. Drives me crazy so now when DH leaves for work DS and I play where is his plate and coffee cup. He leaves them in different places depending on where he was last. It's so much easier when we make a game of it.

As for putting on clothes to get warm I only wish that worked for me. I can sit in the car and shiver in my down coat, winter hat, and gloves even with the heat on. It drives everyone nuts that drives with me that I have to have the heat blasting at all times. I use a down comforter in the summer. 90 degrees and you find me with my feet sticking out is about it. It drives DH crazy when he comes home from work and unless it is over 90 I don't put on the AC. He puts it on to be in the 60's and I put on a sweat shirt and sweater and turn the temp up to upper 70's. We do this all day long to each other. lol I have been this way my whole life so sadly putting on clothes just doesn't cut it for me to make me warm. I figure if you get too hot you can turn on the AC or take a cool shower. lol Oh yeah, I have hypothyroidism so that is more than likely why I am always cold even when they say my TSH is regulated. I am Italian so I am supposed to be hot blooded too.

From another site (not sure if I can link to it and the formatting is messed up, but you get the picture):

I was just diagnosed with hypothyroidism! Must be why I like WDW in August. And why I want to move to Texas (well, that and trying to get into the Diva club;)). My dh and I have the same battles over the a/c. It doesn't help that I'm cheap and would pretty much never turn it on. :rolleyes1

Jennifer,
I swear I am part sloth and in slow motion when my thyroid goes really low. Enjoy the journey of regulating the thyroid. I hope yours gets on track and stays there. I too love the heat in August and September in Florida despite the humidity. I love the dry heat of Phoenix even better though. After coming out of the too cold AC isn't it wonderful to just stand in the heat of the sun to warm up? lol

Jennifer

No apparently not historical enough for him but for me it is!!

Well as some of you know that I have 4 chinchillas and 4 greyhounds and 2 cats in our household but sadly one of our babies(chinchillas Peanut) will have to put to sleep on Tuesday night. he has what is simply called open root which is that their teeth grow both up and down through the jaw bones and up through the eye sockets (puts pressure on them) it cause so much pain and their eyes to water and they druel(sp) so we got a 2nd opinion(sp) and she gave us some antibotics to try but sadly this is not working and he is now not eating at all except for the hand feedings that we give him 3 times a day so I called our vet on Friday and we made the decision to go ahead and put Peanut to sleep unless he turned around by Tuesday but its looking grim. Thanks for listen to me ramble.

I hope everyones Valentine's Day was fabulous.

I just got good news! I won one of the two-day tickets to Universal Studios from the Superbowl ad!

Exact opposite from my DH. Mine comes home all excited that some lady was checking him out.

Will you come work on my packrat. You can't walk in his playroom at the moment between all of the transformers, legos, and bionicles on the floor.

Oh, I love the cup and dish game. :rotfl2: Now, I know my DH's mother did not pick up after him, so I don't know what his problem is. My favorite is when he eats a TV dinner. He will heat the food and then take it out of the platter it comes in and place it on another plate. He puts the microwave platter in the sink. Why can't he just throw it away? One day I am going to wash one and serve his dinner in it.:rotfl:

I am so sorry about Peanut.

Absolutely!! Jennifer posted the ft from door to door, but it's not a bad walk from several hotels.

We walked from the Candy Cane Inn several times (except during the 105 degree days, then we took the hotel shuttle to the front of the MK).

I think the Best Western where Jennifer stayed might be the former Hyatt Garden - back in the early '90's we stayed there a couple of times and it was right at the set of lights at the Disneyland sign, so we could cross the street and walk right over.

Not that it is a short walk...maybe half of the WS circle from hotel to MK gates...but I've heard that the Disneyland sign is no longer the main entrance - which will certainly change my memories next visit. If true, then we might have to stay on the other side in the Disneyland Hotel (how awful ;) ).

SG, California Adventure turned the MK parking lot into an eye sore imho. I don't know too many who really like CA. It took away some the magic of Disneyland. I mean when I think of Disneyland I only think of the MK, but now it is 2 parks.

The hotel rates are not as good as WDW since the 3 Disney resorts are all deluxe...but it is fine to stay at a nearby hotel and most all, even the ones directly across the street, have a shuttle.

The monorail is an attraction more than a mode of transportation and a guest cannot board without a park tkt. It runs from the Disneyland hotel to Tomorrowland.

Okay, I've babbled long enough about DL....be still my heart...but SG if you'd ever like to visit DL and would like a companion to tagalong, you know where to find moi. ::yes::

Hope everyone has a great Monday!:goodvibes

 Oh, I am so sorry. It takes a very loving heart to make such a difficult decision.

I will keep a candle lit for Peanut (and you) today and tomorrow.

Take gentle care.

thank you as my heart is breaking everytime i go to feed him now and even now just sitting at my desk I am crying so this has been the hardest thing I have had to do but I know its for the best and he will no longer be in pain.

Jennifer, thanks for the info. Good to know. I actually knew how many feet in a mile, go figure. I am terrible at numbers as a rule. Words are a different matter. :thumbsup2

Minnie, DL will have to remain a bucket list thing. My bucket is overflowing but I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep. :)

Pooh, I am so very sorry but I really do hope that should I get in such condition that someone would care enough to put me out of my misery. It is a kindness, an unselfish love.

Ang, no wonder I could not keep up with you at AK. I sweat so much that I cannot wear hearing aids, I short them out. Now going in Nov/Dec is another matter altogether. While others shiver I delight. God puts couples together, one hot blooded and one cold, just for His amusement.

Diva K, I have been to Texas several times and have recently given a grandchild the evil eye, something I am not wont to do, so I am slowly moving into the Diva attitude. About time!:worship: The grandchild in question jumped up in my lap and snuggled to try to win my love back. It worked.

JM, congratulations!:cheer2: I have been putting in for the free Disney vacation. I never win anything, maybe I am due????

Anybody think of anything I have not yet done as I try to do something new each trip? Gaylord Palms ICE is on the top of the list but if I manage two weeks or so I would have time for some other things.

SG

Oh, Nancy, so sorry to hear about your little Peanut.

Thanks all for the best wishes for my DL trip!!! I am staying at the Candy Cane Inn, I love the name. Now girls, when they say walking distance does that really mean you could walk there?
