Sept. 2009 @ WDW! Be a Pop Tart 2009~come share your(Bounce Back or NOT)Dates !!!

M&N, I love the white lights and still have one small tree, with just white lights, up in our bedroom. When the snow flies and I have cabin fever I plug it in. Have been known to do so all year long too.

JM, did I miss something? Does your son have autism? My oldest grandson has an eye disease that makes it hard for him to focus and my husband has autism. I often wonder how much better off my husband would have been if they had known about such things when he was young. BTW, my husband worked in the real world and his job did not demand much either. I have a 30 ft cord on my kitchen phone cause he would call me a dozen or more times a night, it reached through two rooms and a bathroom. :rotfl:

M2E, I hope you made it to the laser show. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Timmie, you work too hard. BTW, what are the chances of you being at DW the first week of December?

Ang, how can Will miss you if he never leaves? :yay: You are so much fun it is natural that he would never want to leave you.

I have spent a large part of the day transferring my George Carlin tapes to cd. I am going to have to watch my language for a bit. :lmao: I like some of his material better than others but he is still my favorite. I am finding that many of my old records are worth pretty big bucks. More money for electronics and WDW.:dance3:

Glad your team won Diva K. DH was rooting for Charlotte last night, but that ended terribly.

SG, no Jacob is Austistic or have Aspergers. He has a lot of the signs, but not enough to diagnosis him as such. He is severe ADHD and is on meds for that. His therapies are mainly for his Sensory Issues and Social Cognitive Behavior issues. He was diagnosed as having anxiety this past Summer, which explains a lot.

I got some cool Disney news tonight. My best friend called me from TX, she lives in Garden Ridge, which isn't too far from Diva K. Her and her family are coming to WDW July 15th - 22nd and want us to join them. I figure I will stay at Pop, so I can earn my true Pop Tart status.:rotfl:

Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday. I have to go grocery shopping and take Jacob to therapy so tomorrow will be a full day for me. Have a good one everyone!:goodvibes

awesome for the upcoming planned trip Mel :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Toothpaste and deodorant are on my shopping list, seems like I am being avoided as everyone is going after my planned dates. :sad1:

JM, I have often noted that boys seem more afflicted with all these problems and wonder if some of it might not be the fact that is just impossible for them to sit still for such long periods of time and if classes were taught in such a way that some physical release were permitted they might do a whole lot better. Even being permitted to run around in circles for five minutes each hour might be of benefit. Boys are different from girls, not better, not worse, just different. Hooray for your trip!

Ants, I had heard that doctors and such were being overwhelmed with folks trying to get things fixed before possibly losing their jobs. It is heartbreaking. Going to be worse before it gets better I fear.

Diva K, as usual you come up with yet another fantastic thing for us to look at. Do you have a favorite site or just scour the Net for all these items?

SG/off to read to wee ones

Well, her name is Vickie. She was a major in the Air Force, but they cut back her career field, so now she is a civilian. Its been a really hard year for her, and some people at work are giving her a hard time since she isn't active duty anymore. :sad2:

They really lucked out an got airfare for 4 for $500 with their mileage points etc. They will also be staying at AKL. I hope to stay there one day, but it won't be this trip, or the next, or probably the next, but one day.

Thank you for asking. I am doing better. Not well enough to start working out again, but well enough to function. I'm tired of being sick.

Thank you, I am very excited. They want to be their tour guide. They have been a couple of times, but this will be the first time they use the dining plan and as much as I have tried, Vickie won't join the Dis, so I've just researched more than her.

Sorry work is so stressful right now. I use to work in a doctors office so I can imagine.

We have done some research on the difference in teaching boys and girls. Lucked out last year and got a teacher that told me she actually liked boys better than girls, so she was fantastic. Would love to find one of the classrooms that they teach the boys and girls separately. Jacob is allowed to stand up at his desk, so that helps.

Oh, when are your dates. As I have said before, I will drive over to Orlando anytime to go to Disney. Would love to go with someone that loves it as much as I.

it is clean here. Although the multitudes of boxes around are a lot.

Cheryl

In 13 years I have moved 5 times, I know how you feel. Just take your time and one day you will look around and realize the boxes are gone. Of course I say that, but we were looking for some of our DVD's over the weekend, and the hubby found another box in the garage.:confused3 So, now I have another box in the living room to put up, along with the Christmas stuff.:sad2: One more tree to go, two Boyds trains, all my vases with decorative balls and ornaments in them, my mechanical Snoopys and I will be done.:yay:

Hope Monday is going well for everyone!:goodvibes

cherylp3, my Christmas stuff is gone except for the one small tree that I am keeping until my birthday (July).:lmao: However I have stacks of LP's and tapes all over the pool table as well as stacks of different electronics being moved from room to room to better fit our enchanced viewing options. Still have not gotten the Netflix box connected. Finally figured out how to find the password for the router but cannot get connected to the network. I always figure things out, eventually.

jmskinner, I am glad you are better and I hope you improve as the year progresses. It is difficult not being able to do what you want. I know. I will post the dates when I book but am thinking Nov 29th-Dec 5th plus a few more days possibly. I would love for you to come over and join me and some of my other DIS friends.

One of my small readers told me that she did not have a Christmas and she wanted a big house because her daddy hit her mom and they wanted to move away from him. :sad2: Another child has been asking for extra food in the morning as his mommy does not feel like fixing dinner. I wish I could bring them all home with me.

Good morning.

Timmy,
Sounds like you are really busy. It is sad watching people lose their jobs. We happen to live in the area of Illinois that has had the largest loss of employment so it is all around us.

Cheryl,
Glad to hear you are getting settled. May your unpacking go fast.

Melissa,
Glad you are feeling better. My DS is 14 and I don't know if I mentioned he has some anxiety issues as well. He used to have a blow up seat cusion with bumps on it he used in class when he was younger and it kept him in his seat cause he could wiggle on it. The teachers loved it because it didn't disrupt the other kids with him getting up and down. They sell them through www.therapyshoppe.com

Linda,
I truly wish it was just a matter of how they taught with DS or any true ADHD child. Yes, giving more time to wiggle and stretch would help but that is the least of the issues with ADHD. There are things that he needs due to his learning differences as well. There is hyperactivity which the movement would help. Then there are innattentivness and impulsivity which all the movement in the world won't help. ADHD consists of one or more of the three so if they are anything but just hyper it wouldn't work. I have never met a true ADHD child who was only hyper.

Just speaking for DS even if they geared his work toward things he likes would not be enough to keep him focused for any more than about 2 minutes or so without him talking about something new. He is also very impulsive off meds that he tends to hurt himself because he doesn't think before he acts. That is why he takes medication and believe me it makes the difference between night and day.

I was also thinking how blessed the children are to have Linda...it is so easy for us to feel incredibly saddened by their lives, as we should, but our sweet Linda is a light in that tunnel, just as they are a blessing to her, I'm sure.

God Bless Linda and the little ones!

M2E, I hope you made it to the laser show. Sounds like a lot of fun.

SG

We didn’t make it to the laser light show, but I have a couple of very good reasons. First and most importantly, my BFF here in town is going through an ugly divorce (both she & soon to be ex-hubby work at high school with my DH). Our daughters are 9 days apart, best friends, take dance class together, etc.
On Friday afternoon, the proverbial sh!t hit the fan and Ex sort of lost his grip on reality. During a routine search at school, the drug dogs hit on his car. After searching it, the cops only found alcohol. He also smelled like alcohol when they brought him out to the car, so they administered a BAT. After 11am in the morning, he blew a .04 (half the legal limit). He wasn’t drinking at school, this is what was left in his blood from the night before! This surely means he was intoxicated when he drove to school before 8am. Anyway, he got dragged down to HR & submitted to a drug test (among other things). While there, he starts sending threatening texts to my friend threatening revenge, threatening suicide & referencing the need to see his DD once last time. After returning to the school, he hops in his car & starts running from the cops. They call a Code Delta at both DH’s school & our DD’s school & lock them down. He heads home where we all know he keeps a gun & then takes off again. He’s finally stopped after a speedy chase through neighbor hoods, arrested & put in a padded room for 72 hours to see if he’s a threat to himself. Now, BFF was in meetings when this whole mess started. She didn’t know what was going on and only found out later. She didn’t even turn her phone over to the cops, the Dean of Boys did that. So, now Ex has been arrested, he & his family blame HER for it and she gets to explain to her DD why she can’t see daddy this weekend. Friday night, we talked for a few minutes on the phone but all decided to get together on Saturday night. It actually took about an hour long conversation to understand everything that happened, in order.

Saturday night, before I head over to see my friends, my neighbor 2 doors down calls. She has a beautiful 2 year old daughter, her husband is deployed in Iraq, she’s 17 weeks pregnant and she’s started spotting. I calm her down, have her call her doctor with all the right info. They advise her to head to Urgent Care. So, off I go with her to handle the 2 year old while she gets examined. Two hours later, we’re home & she’s got anti-biotics for a severe UTI. She’s going to be just fine but we were scared.

Between those two things, the laser light show at the museum just didn’t sound so important. We’ll wait and attend the February show. Oh yeah & my BFF got an EPO on Monday morning that lasts through the 20th. At that point, she'll be able to extend it.

Mom2Evie, sorry to hear about your BFF. That is just terrible.

I also wanted to say thanks for helping out your neighbor. As a military wife I know how it is to be without family when an emergency comes up. I'm glad her and the baby are fine.

Well, I booked Pop Century for our July trip, I couldn't think of the name of it when I called, I kept wanting to say, "Pop Tart".:rotfl: I finally just yelled out POP!!!! The poor CM just laughed at me. The CM said I got the last room available with the military discount, but now I am wondering if we should stay at Shades of Green. I am so confused right now.:confused3

Mom2Evie,
All I can say is that your BFF and neighbor are lucky to have you in their lives
I sometimes think my life is boring but if thats what exciting is I'll keep my boring life! ::yes::

I'm here. Need to leave to get the kiddo though. One wednesday every month the kids get out early to give the teachers some work time and today is one of those days.

How are you?

Made an appointment with an allergist for the end of the month...hopfully he'll be able to cure me of what ails me (sinuses  )
Looks like I'll be hosting another Steeler playoff game on Sunday...don't get me wrong I LOVE The Steelers and are happy to have friends over but I am running out of black & gold refreshment ideas...last Sunday I had black & gold cookies, cupcakes, M-n-Ms, jellybeans...put on your thinking caps Pop Tarts and give me some ideas!
