Oh, yummy! I'm going to save the Thanksgivng Cocktail links.

This yr I'll be alone as Mia and Michael and baby Sophia are going to visit his family in FL. I wanted to stay home with our very elderly pups.

Sooo, have a turkey TV dinner in the freezer or might make a turkey breast with smaller Thanksgiving fixins'. Have a new book to curl up with (along with one of those Thanksgiving cocktails), and am hoping for some good holiday movies on cable. Oh, and time to begin the Christmas music! Might listen to the new James Taylor Christmas CD I received for Christmas last yr, but never had a chance to play.

All this talk of Thanksgiving goodies is making me hungry!

Is the holiday season really just a week away? And Hanukah falls close to Christmas this year..which is perfect. One of my dearest friends is Jewish and we get to shop all season together (well, we did when I lived in Boston...not that we needed an excuse to shop).

Now, all we need is a dusting of snow.

Speaking of cocktails...does anyone else have a drink named after them??? I do, its a Kris Kiss (cranberry juice and peach schnappes!) I was drinking it one night at a wedding and everybody asked me what it was and by the end of the night everybody was going to the bartender and asking for it by name!

1# whole mushrooms
2 beef bouillon cubes
1/2 cup hot water
1/2 stick butter
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 cream
1/8 tsp. salt
dash pepper
1/2 bread crumbs
1/2 parmesan cheese

Saute mushrooms in butter. Dissolve beef cubes in water.
Melt 1/2 stick butter and blend with flour.
Add cream, salt, pepper and beef broth.
Top with cheese and bread crumb mixture before baking.
Bake in buttered casserole for 30 minutes at 350.

If I saute the mushrooms in butter, where is the 1/2 stick coming from that I'm going to melt and then blend the flour into? Or am I blending the flour into the butter & mushroom misture in the pan?

This recipe sounds like "inside out stuffed mushrooms" or better yet, "Unstuffed Mushrooms"!!!

The butter you sauté the mushrooms in is in addition to the 1/2 stick you blend the flour into...I know, I know, not exactly cholesterol friendly

OMG, it is way too early for a snow day. Better break out those drink recipies and enjoy the day in. It if it makes you feel a little better it is 15 degrees here but no snow.

Snow here too! School delays and a few closings....but of course, the city would actually shut down if we got 2 inches.

First snow day here It is going to be a long winter

it has been snowing here since yesterday I came prepared the young ones hated me... they had to go buy a new coat.. well atleast theres an outlet store nearby... so they got a bargain.... well it is not my fault that all they brough was a light coat/blazer so they can be cute... kids !!!!

Linda!!! I finally slowed down with food... I just had coffee for breakfast with 2 scrambled eggs with friend onions and tomato topping and a big glass of freshly squeezed OJ !!! And now having some coffee and choco scones!!! Iam so sleepy... I was up all night watching TV... they have cable !!! See why I cant have this at home !!!!!

Stupid Snow Flurries! For those that don't know, I live in the Southeast corner of Virginia. We're getting snow flurries this morning. I HATE SNOW!! It's cold & wet. It makes my daughter act more insane than normal.

Lunch was great... but now I truly need a nap... since it is Friday and snowing they all decide an early finish... they are heading back to the City not I!!! tomorrow we get to break and use all the things we learn for the past 3 days... then the vacation is over... back to the real work... arrrggghhh

I do not eat mushrooms since I got a very bad case of food poisoning from them years ago. Wish I could get sick on chocolate and get rid of that craving.

Snow flurries here now and then, very cold. Must wear shoes, so that means it is really, really COLD! We usually have mild winters with little snow most of the time and coming much later, like after Christmas. Of course this year is promising to be different. If I can get all the doctoring done and just hibernate until Spring I will be one happy woman.

My daughter invited us over and my bil so we are going to the bil's. I would rather spend it with my grandsons but Tom enjoys his brothers and his old stomping grounds so much that I must sacrifice. I am making the bread and the dessert.

Timmie, you made 'friends' with an onion? If anyone could it would be YOU!

Flu shots done, one more thing off my list of things to do.

Grandson coming after school. He has a hot date and no cash so he needs the work. Lucky for me he has an active social life.

Other grandson coming to spend the night and beg to set up my tree. He would do a better job than I feel like doing though.

We have a Christmas celebration on our town square tonight. Lots of decorations, carriage rides, carolers, bake sales, antiques, and seeing our friends and neighbors. I always work the 'Decorate the Cookie" stand. I come home with frosting in my hair and love in my heart.
