Takeoff is … both A and B. Since we were expecting a bumpy ride, I thought it was pretty smooth…then we start to hit very minor turbulence, but enough so that I hear others in the cabin go “ohhh” a few times.
DD is absolutely fine with the whole thing. I wasn’t sure what she would do, but DH just kept talking to her, showing her the roads, cars and buildings from the air and she was good. We made sure to keep her eating (swallowing) so her ears would equalize with the added pressure, but she seemed to adjust to everything well enough.
So now it’s time for us to eat and remember how we got 2 sandwiches to split among the 3 of us? Well, I take one bite into my roast beef sandwich and ‘whoa, this is hot – as in spicy!’ I thought I was getting those yellow banana peppers but instead they put on the jalapeno peppers. The spiciness is starting to make my stomach gurgle, and of course DD won’t eat a bite of it.
So DD devours DH’s sandwich. DH won’t eat my sandwich either. He’s hungry. I’m trying to wipe off the jalapenos and juice and finally give up and just go straight to dessert – a big, chewy chocolate chip cookie! Yum!
By now DD shows no signs of falling asleep…she’s getting a bit restless and starting to kick the seat in front of her. Now I know I absolutely hate when a kid does this to me…however, try telling a 2 year old not to kick the seat in front of her and she’ll just kick it all the more.
Finally, I remember my Disney Activity Book and toys and we play with these until we land, take the shuttle train to pick up luggage and go to Alamo to rent our SUV. Now, I admit here I was not a kind person.
You see, when I reserved the SUV (Trailblazer or similar), we purposely got a standard size SUV so my 6’6” tall DH and I (6’ tall) can fit in it with room for all our luggage and stroller. When we get to the counter, I am told that all they have are the hybrid Hylanders. I don’t know anything about this except it looks like a station wagon. So I pretty much freak out on them until they get me a Trailblazer. DH just shakes his head…
We get to our Priceline Hotel ($45) Best Western Lake Buena Vista and I request a room facing Epcot. Here is the view from our balcony.
Closer view of Saratoga Springs from our balcony.
The room is decent. Dinner at the hotel is good, mostly because we are starving by now. A quick swim in the pool was great and relaxing. We watch some of the “boom booms” as my DD calls them from our bed. DD doesn’t want to sleep on the other queen bed so she falls asleep between DH and my legs. Then we pick her up and put her in bed. I say, let’s go to sleep early (it’s only 9:15pm) it’s been tiring with all the travel.
What happens around midnight?
a) DD wakes up screaming b/c she doesn’t know where she is
b) Other guests set off firecrackers
c) DH wants to check out the view from the balcony
d) We all turn into pumpkins

Yes, the flight was a bit bumpy and DD was fine -- were you stalking us??
OK, I purposely didn't answer the cliffhanger about what happened at midnight...wanted to see what you all thought...Will answer next time...
