Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

My DH and I just booked this cruise. We are so excited!!!

This will be our third Disney cruise. If anyone would like to participate in a FE Gift exchange, please let me know. I would be happy to organize one.

Thanks,
Jennifer

We are taking Amtrak from San Diego to Vancouver. Where are you traveling from, and what Date. We leave SD on Saturday, Sept. 17th.

Sunday Sept 18, Coast Starlight from Eugene, OR to Seattle, WA. We will spend the night at our daughter's in Seattle. Monday Sept 19, Amtrak Cascades from Seattle to Vancouver, arriving just before noon. That gives us the afternoon'evening to see some sights in Vancouver.

How many hours are you on the train? Its got to be more than 24 hours. Do you have to switch trains somewhere?

The wife and I will be on this cruise and will be staying on for the Mexican Riveria since a five-day cruise is too short. We had hoped, like others, to do the last Alaska cruise and stay on to come home (we live in Los Angeles, about 45-minutes from the port), but alas that did not happen.

The 7-night Mexican Riveria will be our first as Gold members, but we know we might have to wait until we get on board to get our Gold lanyards since the computers might not update quickly for the back-to-back folks.

Hi Tim and Kathy. We will be on that Coast Starlight. We board in San Diego at 6 am Saturday on the Surfliner, then switch to the Starlight at Union Station in LA to Seattle, where we will be getting on one of the Amtrak buses to Vancouver that night, then spending Monday in Vancouver. We have a roomette for the train, so we have a place to sleep streched out. Maybe we can meet on the train?

Okay, I need to get excited about this cruise...

We are going to get Amtrak on Sunday morning from Seattle to Vancouver. It depends on what happens Friday if we can get into VGC for Sunday and Monday then we will get the Disney cruise bus from the LA port to the GVC. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

My plan for Seattle is Pike's Place Market, to watch them throw the fish. Sip coffee in the original Starbucks and go up inside the Space Needle. At some point there will be food.:cool1::cool1:

I was thinking about doing the Walk in Walt's footsteps tour at Disneyland. Anyone have any suggestions? :yay::yay:

Is anyone else worried that Disney will cancel this cruise or is it a done deal that they need to be out of Alaska at the end of September and will have to get the ship more southern?

The reason I ask is there are so many available cabins on this cruise. I am geography challenged so the ports of Mexico that Disney visits are not the ones in turmoil right now correct? So Disney isn't going to cancel the Mexican itineraries of the Wonder are they?

In other words, since this is a repositioning cruise, Disney will need to reposition the Wonder whether it is full or not correct??

Thanks,

Stephanie worry wart:headache::headache:

My DH and I did the "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" last year. We ended up being the only two people on the tour. We both thought it was great. We spend some time in the Gallery, at the "Partners" statue, the Tiki Room (where they brought out one of the flowers, and got to see how they work), went into the lobby of Club 33, and had a great lunch with our tour guide. If you have AAA, you also get a discount on the tour.

Steffy, I do not think they would cancel the trip. Maybe we will all get upgraded. It would be bad press for them to cancel it.

From what I understand the Wonder is in Drydock for two weeks prior to repositioning, therefore it isn't likely that there will be a problem with this cruise.:goodvibes

Kathy and I also have gone on "Walking in Walt's Footsteps" and it was awesome!

Just passed the next to last milestone, just got a room at the Villa at the Grand Californian for when we get to LA. Now all I need is a room in Vancouver.

Less than seven months to go and a trip to Disneyworld in the middle.

I like trains and wish I was joining some of you going up the coast to get there! Just wish trains in this country was as reliable as the ones in Europe.

I hope everything is going well with everyone!!! Have a wonderful spring ( especially after all the snow here in the NorthEast). See you all in the Fall!

I am really getting stoked now. I was able to get a villa at the Grand Californian for after the cruise. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Thank you for all the comments about the tour. I really think I'm going to do the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour. The friends that I am traveling with have all been to Disneyland numerous times, so I think something special would be nice.:goodvibes:goodvibes

Now that I have my reservation, I'm going to call DCL and get my transportaion from the port to VGC. :yay::yay::yay:

Thanks for the reassurance!!!:yay::yay::dance3:

I'm happy and excited to add myself to this cruise. I, Diane, will be traveling with my BFF, Donna. Our husbands will be spending the week in Palm Springs doing their annual "Golfapalooza". I have no doubt that we will be having more fun than they will. We live in the San Diego area and are planning to fly to Seattle on Monday getting there at 9am, spending the day and then taking the Amtrak train to Vancouver on Tuesday morning. I noticed that others are taking the train as well, but on earlier days. Anyone else coming in on Tuesday on the train????

Ahoy!!!!!!

My DH and I just paid off our balance. This is starting to feel like it is really happening, and I am getting so excited.:dance3::dance3::dance3:

My wife and daughter will be on the train coming in Tuesday Morning to Vancouver. But we will only be joining the train in Bellingham on the last run to boarder.

Hi Everyone - Disney has posted the Excusions for Victoria and the pretrip ones for Vancouver if you want to have a look.

The ones for Encenada were not there when I looked.

Except for deciding if we are taking excursions all I need is a room in Vancouver. Hope everyones elses planning is doing well.

See you in September, see you when the summers through...

I was so excited to find this thread. I am traveling solo - I wanted to get cruise #5 before the Fantasy comes in 2012. I think this will be an awesome cruise. Victoria is so beautiful. I look forward to meeting fellow Dis'ers

Hello! How are you booking Villas at GC? I'd love to do that, but we are not DVC members.

We will be taking the train up on Monday or Tuesday. That 7:40 train arriving at 11:40 on Tues makes me a bit nervous. What time is sail away? We may take the 6:50 PM train and Priceline a room for Monday night.

Off to check out excursions...

Not sure how long it will take us to get off the boat Sunday morning... I see an arrival time of 930... could I make a flight at 1:30 at LAX?

Seems sooooooooo long since I've posted to this thread! We just made final payments for this cruise and the first of the Mexican Riviera cruise following. (Time to start socking some cash away for the Dream and Fantasy cruises next March!!)

Glad to see that those who were looking for GC villas were able to get them. We'll be there after the Mex Riv cruise for 5 nights before we head back south of the border.

We've never done the first cruise after a dry dock so it will be interesting to see if everything gets taken care of or if we'll have a few issues on the way from Van-LA.

We were in Cabo San Lucas from Feb 24 - March 3 and enjoyed seeing the Wonder there 3 of our days. It was great to see her in the bay but it will be even better to see her up in Vancouver!

Be well, everyone!

Saludos!
Michael
