Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

I don't think we are going to get off the ship in Mexico either, not to thrilled with any of the choices. I wish we were going to San Fransisco but that just gives me another reason to book next years repo trip :) We didn't plan on getting off the ship in Victoria since we live so close and have been there, done that but then Steve saw the microbrewery tour and wants to do that so now dd, my mom and i might be to the tea at the Empress.

It sounds like A LOT of people won't be getting off the ship. :( I was hoping for some quiet time on board, but it sounds like it'll be hopping just as much on Ensenada day as the sea days!!! :guilty:

Hmmm, I'm not sure what we will be doing at the ports now.... it feels like we should get off at at least one of the ports, lol. I wish there were more family (younger kids) friendly excursions or at least a beach day in Ensenada. :(

Come on Disney, you are geared towards children/familys aren't you? lol

I think we will be staying on the ship also, Ensenada does not have a lot of appeal for me. There haven't been a lot of positive things posted about this town. If we were planning to get off the ship, I would definitely book a DCL excursion. We are doing the Mexican Riviera cruise right after this one and would much rather do excursions in Cabo & Puerto Vallarta.

Janice - I did the Mexican Rivera cruise in January and I enjoyed the shore excursions in Cabo and Puerto Vallarta. My fav was the zip lining in Puerto Vallarta.

San Francisco would have been my preference over Ensenada by far. I have also been to Victoria and although it's nice I didn't see any port adventures I would be interested in. So my plan is to put my jogging clothes on and take a run around Victoria.

What were the sights like? There are about 5 different zip lines near where I live. FH and I did the longest one and really enjoyed it, except it was a lot of "hurry up and wait." Even though it was about 2 1/2 hours long, I really felt like it was very little "zipping" and a whole lot of "waiting." Was your experience like that as well? There were 10 people on my specific tour, which was the max. How many people were in your tour? Also, what were the sights like there? Was it basically just trees, or was it more scenic? When I did it, it was pretty, but I live in a very wooded area, so basically, all I saw were trees! LOL! On one of the zips, there was supposedly a cave if I'd looked to my left and down, but I was too busy trying to stay forward and not run into the platform to be looking at a hole in the ground 50 ft. below me and to my left! :lmao:

FH and I both really loved it, and would like to do it again sometime. So you really enjoyed the one in Puerto Vallarta?

Yep, I have a feeling we're staying on the ship the entire time.

A jog through Victoria does sound nice.

Is anyone following any blogs or threads with details of the Repo heading to Vancouver?

Do you know of any? I was hoping for some information of any touches that will be added during dry dock. I know they're changing the bed covers to duvets like on the Dream. Hoping they change the clocks too.

Here's a blog from a cruiser doing the LA to Van repo and the first Alaska cruise. They were on the WBTA with us last year...

I think we're probably staying on the ship as well. None of the excursions appeal to me, and if we WERE to get off the ship, we'd DEFINITELY want to make sure that it was a DCL excursion. Ensenada is not the greatest town and I don't understand why DCL is going there, since they already have the non-US port requirement met by starting in Vancouver and going to Victoria. :confused3 I would have MUCH preferred they stop in San Diego instead!!

A stop at either San Diego or San Francisco would have been much more interesting, with probably a lot more options for excursions. We are looking at doing the last DCL Pacific cruise next year, I think it stops at both those locations.

Anyone else not interested in disembarking at Ensenada? I've been to Ensenada numerous times in my early twenties and really had some bad experiences with local police scams. Things may have changed over the past twenty years but I prefer not to take any chances and just stay on the ship.

I don't have any particular inclination to disembark in Ensenada but I told DH that and he said he wants to at least go for a shot of tequila if we're going to be in Mexico .

SF would have bee lovely, would have liked to have gone to the Disney museum or Alcatraz since we never made it to eithr in the 10 years I lived in East Bay . San Diego would have been better than Ensenada but not by much. Still I'm sure at least half thepassengers will be disembarking which should leave a somewhat empty ship for those that don't.

Ditto on the "no Ensanada for us". The relaxing ship day will be fun but it appears that it will not be quiet, but full of cruisers. Maybe Disney will figure this out and plan some fun activities for us shipboard people.

Oh, I shouldn't have drank that tequila.
I should have just stayed with the beer (the beer).
Take the first shot, like it or not,
I could not stop till I landed right here.

Sorry... every time someone mentions a shot of tequila, I start singing! LOL! :rolleyes1

I SOOOOO hope so!!! They usually don't do activities on port days, right? I SO hope they do this time! If enough people stay on board, will they? :confused3

I booked the canopy adventure with Disney and the company is called Puerto Vallarta. I didn't feel rushed and the group included about 10 fellow passengers. The adventure included zip lining, rope ladder climbing, rope bridges and even one or two rappelling lines. The tour was in a national park setting with mostly trees but I did see a small river and various birds. The company team members where great and I would definitely sign up again.

Good to know! Now I just have to convince FH to take me on a Mexican Riviera cruise!!! :lmao:

It looks like i'll be adding on to this cruise.....SOOOO wanted to do Barcelona, but couldnt find anyone that could be gone that long (my DH refuses to cruise); DS will be back in college etc....so i have a good friend who will be joining, and possibly her daughter...and maybe even her DSIL...asked my DD too; but her little guy will only about 8 mos old, so doubt she'll go and her DH may want to be along for their son's first Disney cruise.

Anyway, this will be my 6th cruise (all Disney), and i have two planned for 2012 = Jan Mexican Riviera & Oct 2012 my 2nd Eastern but on the Fantasy!!!

Guess i need to go back thru the pages and get caught up with everyone!!
Will confirm next week if we're going for sure...
