Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

Hi!

I was considering taking the train from Portland. I love the rails. In the end I decided to fly and take some time in Vancouver.

I've take the train cross country twice...the sleeping cars are so expensive..but for a 3 day trip well worth it. (at least it was 17 years ago..I bet they're outrageous now.)

For us, I would rather have the expense of the room. I have a hard time sleeping while reclining, so I love to have the bed to stretch out on.

I have to say I adored having the sleeping compartment. I loved sitting up in bed in the middle of the night and having NO IDEA where we could be. It was such an adventure! I also loved the swaying motion of the train..it just lulled me to sleep.

Also... I um....er....SNORE, quite loudly...I'd be mortified to sleep around strangers. :rolleyes1

I have been researching limo services for our group of 6. Looks like there is room for 8 people in the ones we are looking at.
Is there a group of 2 that might like to share a limo ride with us to cut costs?

We are all set!!! Just BFF Dianne & I - none of our kids can come but we will have fun without them!!! Going to book Amtrak this week and prob the hotel in vancouver too! Then we will have fun deciding in what to do in vancouver victoria and Ensenada :)

Jennifer - our room no is 6090 (for the fish extender) & we are both over 40...well i will tell you all that im "forever40" :rotfl:

So looking fwd to meeting you all!!!! And so happy
To hv a cruise on the books for this year!

From where to where?

From where to where?

Oh, lol, sorry.
From the port of LA to the Carousel Inn (so if you have a hotel in the same area it shouldn't be a problem to share, I would of course make sure through the limo company).
We will also use them on Sept 30th to go from the Carousel Inn to LAX airport in the evening for a 7pm flight (not sure if anyone has that same schedule, but thought that we could at least share the port to hotel ride).

Looks like we might be adding ourselves to this list! I was pricing out a December trip to Disneyland but DH and I got talking last night about what *he* wanted to do (because it's always mememe and I thought I should give him a chance to put in his two cents worth)...I offhandedly mentioned the Vancouver to LA cruise and holy cow, he thinks it's an awesome idea! We're just double-checking we can get the time off work and that we can cancel our planned August 'staycation' before booking for sure.

Now I'm just trying to figure out if we should just fly home from LAX on Sept 25 (very pricey, those flights!) or stay over a day or two at Disneyland and then fly out of John Wayne (much better prices). Of course, I'm leaning towards Disneyland but have to consider that's a long time to keep kidlets out of school.

So now to go back and read through this thread (um...after work, I guess :rolleyes1 ) and try to figure out what an FE is...:rotfl:

Just put our deposit down.

I am a cruise newbie. I'm going with my mom and 7 year old son.

We live in YVR and will take advantage of the LA endpoint to visit my sister and kids in Long Beach.

FE = Fish Extenders...Several people get together and organize a gift exchange....little things like magnets, pins and such...though some people get VERY creative.

Just put our deposit down.

:cool1::cool1: Welcome!

Welcome to the DIS lornag! :goodvibes
Kinda neat to see so may people booking this cruise now ... when I booked last August and first saw this thread I was worried that we were going to have the ship to ourselves. Found some of my FE gifts last week, so its getting more real day by day. Just one payment left for us and the entire 3 week trp will be paid for.
Did everybody see the pictures DCL put up of the Wonder as it sailed into Vancouver for the first time? So fun to see that on my fb newsfeed!

Welcome Fergus & Lornag!!!! i think we have the makings of a FUN DISer group on this cruise....

Welcome to our newest group members!! Yay this will be so fun!

We made our last payment last week and are now PIF!
Hoping the Cdn dollar stays up when it comes time to book our DL tickets :)

We went down and saw the ship when it was in port, amazing sight to see and can't wait for September.

This week made it all seem real, we paid off the cruise, confirmed the hotel, bought airline tickets (Westjet had an ok price out of John Wayne Airport), bought tickets for Medival Time (hubbies choice) and now just have to order Disney tickets with Airmiles and all will be good. Now just have to figure out what to make for the FE exchange :)

i had quite a few friends on the ship that went into Vancouver....it was raining :(
but they had a fabulous time!!! some went on a B2B and went on up to Alaska!

soooo....my next cruise is Jan 2nd - Mex Riviera....i HAD to CREATE a thread today because NO ONE has yet:confused3
so either i'm sailing alone or there are no DISer's on that cruise :sad2:

Welcome Aboard!

On Friday, The Wonder will be in Skagway Alaska...so since we only live about 100 miles from there, we are going to drive there and meet up with some people that we were on the WBTA with. That will have to tide us over until September.....

Janice...you wouldn't be meeting Cheri would you? She takes so many cruises, i can't keep them all straight, so can't remember if she was on that WBTA

No...we'll be meeting Jon (Pilk) & Candida (Photographer Goofy-disnames). There was quite a large group of DISer (300+) on that cruise and we didn't get a chance to meet them all. It's amazing how busy you can be on a two week cruise....

Does anyone else think it would be fun to come up with a group "name" or slogan, maybe even a graphic?
Any ideas?

oh yes we should totally come up with something....my son is a pretty good artist; he's home from college sunday, so he may be able to pencil something once we come up with a name for our sailing if someone doesn't....okay creative minds go to work....
