I'm getting married on the Disney Wonder 5/22/09. We'll be in WDW 5/20 and probably a few days after the cruise since it's Memorial Day Weekend.

Bev :)

Early congrats on your wedding....

I kinda always dream about a cruise wedding, something magical about the seas. Where are you having the ceremony? On Castaway Cay or on the ship somewhere?

Howdy all you pirates,

you have 2 more stowaways coming along this cruise:woohoo:

I havnt had a chance to read all the pages to see if i know any of you yet, but I will try and catch up soon:goodvibes

I will give a quick introduction for all of you.

Kathy & Greg Templeton
This will be our 18th DCL cruise:cool1:
we have a 7 day booked for 11/29/08 too.

Just the 2 of us coming with you.
The kids are grown and we are free at last:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Although we have 2- 4 legged furry kids

Our home is in Fruitland Park Florida, but we are in our RV in Oregon for the winter visiting family and friends.

I havnt added any pirate signature icons to my name yet, but I will, so please dont make me walk the plank just yet.
I need to finish my 08 banana head cruise first.;)

I am looking forward to getting to know all of you over the next 2 years:goodvibes

It seems many of you already know each other from previous cruises.
But I am NOT shy and will jump right in and start posting right away.
Just look at my post count and that should tell you how much I like to post with fellow cruisers:love:

I'll be back soon, the laundry is calling my name:laundy:

Hi Kathy!!
We met on the Original Nana head cruise in 2006!
It will be great cruising with a familiar face!

Hey Kathy! I may not know you form previous cruises but I do recognize your name as a frequent poster so I kinda feel like I know you already;)

Woody, are you doing this cruise too? There are a lot of great people on this cruise, I'll set you up with the other SoCal folks.
Yes, we booked this cruise. We look forward to meeting some SoCal "neighbors."

Thankyou. I did send our info already this morning.
My computer wouldnt let me send it through the sight so I just sent a PM to the OP of this thread. Hope that will work ok.

I have been having problems with my computer lately, getting a tracking cookie too that is really a pain big time from the dis boards. I am not very smart when it comes to computers either.

If that didnt get me on the roll call I will try again later.

Is someone going to e-mail or PM us a copy so we can learn each others names soon?

I dont know whow things are going to work here for such things, so if you can tell me any information I would love to hear it.
Thanks alot,

Kathy

What type of flight did you get? Lots of long layovers or a non-stop flight? Did you get to the port in plenty of time to board?

we flew from Vegas to Philly and then Philly to Barcelona ... we flew in a day early

OK a little nervous about being out at sea for 5+ days, but we love DCL Magic sooo much that we are willing to give it a try. Anyone have any pointers for these "firsts" ?

.. you went to beer fest and you can still see ... sounds to me like you didnt sample enough ....and of course it looks great you did a great job :thumbsup2

pirate:

Beerfest was 12-5. Took me until after midnight to be able to see straight enough to post that. :rotfl: Trust me, I sampled plenty! :thumbsup2

Hi all! I have to say Goodbye; DH and I realized that the wish we had for seeing Russia is doable; so we've moved to the 7/6/2010 Northern Caps cruise. I wish you all a magical/safe crossing! And you all have been great!
And Brooklyn, Thanks for creating the Pounds to Rubles logo; it looks great!:thumbsup2

How exciting!! Not that we don't want as many pirates as possible on our cruise, but that's really cool that you get the chance to go to Russia! :woohoo:

Hi all!

We have a reservation on this cruise, but I have to make a final decision today and put down our deposit. We would LOVE to do it, but the two weeks off work for DH is going to be a bit painful since he is self employed. Please give me some ideas about what you loved about transatlantic cruises if you have done them before and some things that you didn't like. We have cruised 6 times with DCL and know the boat and the service and the entertainment. I am a bit worried about being at sea for so long but many trip reports have said it is very relaxing-any thoughts on this?

Also I am a bit worried about getting good prices on airfare (we didn't reserve through Disney) Who did you use and what prices did you find? We are from San Diego, but could use Southwest to get to another airport if that is cheapest. (LA is usually cheaper than SD too)

Also I think we would want to see something else in Europe before we got on the cruise, but this would make time off longer and again a bit more painful financially. What did you do last time before that you thought was good (or bad and that we should stay away from) I saw some went to Disneyland Paris. Was that worth it?

I would love any input and advice you have:)

Hi There! I'm in LA County.

We did the Med last year. We are also self-employed but were lucky enough to have our employees run the office while we were gone.

We booked our own flights about 2-3 months out. Can't get DH to believe its cheaper to book our so early. Turns out it worked out for us ok. We only paid about $200 more for a group of 6 than those that booked about about 1 yr in advance.

In regards to the long days at sea. I am one of those persons that unless I have several days at sea, I don't relax. DH, who is constantly running scenarios in his brains, just enjoyed the time and slept in - A LOT. The problem with those days is that us DIS-ers get so much going that it makes the day fly by.

There is always something to do. Plus, with all the time out before we sail, we will usually develop friendships BEFORE boarding which will help take out any anxiety's beforehand and before the trip.

As for DL Paris, to each his own. If you want to go, I say go, but don't expect anything like DL or WDW. First, it is small. You can actually do both parks in one day if you budget right. We went in August of 2007 so Woody will more updated info but for us - and this is only us - my family (mostly girls) enjoyed Paris much more. We ended up booking 3 days and 2 nights in DL Paris and we could have done it in days and 1 night to do it justice. But that's ok. My personal experience with the hotel staff at the DL Paris was not that great. They are DEFINTELY not like stateside but don't let that distract you. The park is nice and for me - a bit more glittery - I liked that. The colors in the park and just in general is a bit more pretty. That is nice but its a trip to be there. If you have kids, they will enjoy it. Don't get me wrong - I ENJOYED it! And would love to go back but I/we just enjoyed Paris more.

My youngest - 14 at the time convinced DH to go there. We did the last 11-Night Med cruise and since we thought we would never go back, we bit the bullet and flew over to Paris on Iberia. While the flight over was easy, the flight back was a bit of a trouble for them. I flew back to Barcelona and took the trans-Atlantic with a girlfriend. Since the price is cheaper than a 7-day repo, I don't think you can go too wrong. Yes, the time away is hectic and can be painful but if you hear the times my girls tell their friends, we've been to the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Latin Quarter, etc. There is no substitute for that. Even if you don't have kids, the memories you make will last you a lifetime.

I hope this has helped you a bit, if you need any more or have other questions, please feel free to ask or pm. I would love to help

I will encourage you to book it and plan on going. The time will fly by and its definitely an experience. Besides, you'll be hitting both sides of the Atlantic - so you'll get Europe and Caribbean for a fairly decent price.

Hope this helps.

Honestly the only thing I was disappointed with on the last TA was the food. That was my first Disney cruise and I had been hearing so much about how fabulous the food was. I don't know if it just didn't live up to they hype or if it really was less stellar than usual. I was told that DCL did change up the menus to cater to a more European palate so maybe that's why.

edited to add: I did enjoy the food more on this year's cruise, so I think there was something to the European palat thing

As for so many sea days, I never had a moment when I felt like I just wanted it to stop. I spent a lot of time on Deck 4 and also a lot of time in the various seminars. We also had some group activities on the sea days and that was fun.

I went to DL Paris prior to the last trip and honestly don't see a need to return. I've been to all of the Disney parks except Hong Kong and Paris is my least favorite. It just didn't have anything that stood out to make me want to return. Now Tokyo on the other hand, I would go back in a heartbeat. Their DisneySea is just phenomenal.

I would like to spend more time in Paris proper though. I only spent 1 evening there, doing a city tour and cruise down the Siene. Some day I'll get back there, but not in a combination with this cruise. If anything I'll probably spend a few extra days in Barcelona. There are a few things I didn't get to see last time.
