Just back from having my hair cut and coloured. Another new hairdresser.:confused3 They just don't stay in one place long at all these days, and I don't normally like a new one just before going away in case they make a mess. Anyway she, and my hair seem quite nice, and she doesn't seem to be going anywhere in the near future.

Another thing to tick off the list.:lmao:

:woohoo: sounds good Marilyn! :woohoo:

:littleangel:

For the Galley tour just go to Guest Services when you board, or soon after. They do get booked up. However on the PC cruise they added an extra tour or two as so many people wanted to do it.

I didn't know you could still do the Bridge Tour either, but we sure would love to do that.

We did the Theatre Backstage thing last time and that was really good and I can recommend it. I think you just turn up for that, it will be on the Navigator.

Thanks, I will try to get to Guest Services early and sign up. I did the Theater Backstage Tour last time also...it was really nice.

Is DCL still giving great gifts to the Castaway members. We got some terrific gifts last time. Does any one know what they have been giving for Silver level?

Thanks . .. trying to decide if I need to bring a beach bag or not

On Erik and Jason's blog, he posted pictures of what they received but I think it is for the Gold Members. They got "a bag, two really nice metal souvenir water bottles, two rice krispy treats in the shape of flip flops and a DCL keychain...PLUS a new zipping leather wallet/credit card holder, set of DCL postcards and luggage strap".....so maybe the Silver will get a bag also.

Lisa I hope your DD is feeling much better this morning and that DS stays well....Tell them I cant wait to meet them next Thursday so we can go see Mickey together!!

Where do you sign up for the galley and bridge tour at and when??

April is 17 but Andrew is in his early 20's.....

Does anyone know what time the Magic leaves Malta today so maybe I can watch as she leaves?

6pm their time in over an hour an half from now

BARCELONA GROCER: There was a conversation or two about a grocery market in the metro area of Barcelona. I've either lost my note about it or didn't save it. Does anyone have record of where that's at?

Do you mean the El Corte Ingles at Plaça de Catalunya, 14.
Spain
? If not, PM me as I have a whole list of grocery stores.

It's indeed feeling like fall here. It got down well into the 40F's last night. It's 7:40 am now, and it's a brrrrrrr 49F degrees. I LOVE fall, but seeing trees already turning (very early) and falling down is sad.

A little cooler here but still very pleasant during the day and evening

The intensity of that fire is quite alarming. So sad to hear of the monetary and life lost.

Yes, it is and was a terrible tragedy. San Bruno Fire

NO RAIN on Saturday!!!! NO RAIN!!! I want the sail away party to be in the sunshine of the Mediterranean! (Also not happy about the expected rain earlier in the week either.)
Still the same forecast on weather.com.

I can just see it now a small group of shifty Disers attempting to scalp tickets outside of guest services, lol

LOL - made my day picturing this!!

Just say, "sorry for the mess, there was an earthquake" - you don't have to say it wasn't anywhere near you :rotfl2:

Colleague just moved a heavy box and dropped it with a rather heavy bang - we all jumped. For goodness sake, please don't slam your stateroom doors when we are around or we may not have enough mentionables to last the cruise :lmao:

I may have to try this! We will try not to slam doors around you!!

So here it is the second time in two weeks, we have helicopters flying overhead!!! it is dark outside but they still have searchlights!!! We closed and locked everything up but I know I will probably end up staying up!!!! Naturally we won't hear what was going on until tomorrow morning!!!

YIKES - hope everything is OK

Oh, I hope they are teens. My two teen DS are looking for new friends on this cruise. Seems like a lot of smaller kids going . . .

If Stephen behaves himself this weekend, I may not kill him - so there is the high probability of a 13yo boy tagging along...

Today was my last day of work before our trip - 3 sleeps to go!

happy to see that you are getting enough sleep to still count "sleeps"...

Hey everyone, I am soooo behind. Terry's granny died on Sunday so I have had the in-laws staying and the funeral today. Will have the in-laws for a few more days and I am finding it impossible to find the time to get on.
Somebody please PM me if I have missed anything important.
:flower3:
OK, will try to catch up next week, I promise ;)

The real important thing is that we are in single digits! Will look for you on skyp tonight (Sat am for you)

I normally don't have a passcode on either of my devices. but since I will be leaving my comfort zone, I decided to put them on. I was afraid that I would "loose" them somewhere and there are things on there I really don't want strangers to have access to.

I am wondering tho, if an honest person found my things and wanted to return them how would they know who they belonged to?

I was thinking about making some sort of a sign with contact info on it and taking a picture of it and using it as my start screen.... Good idea or bad?:confused3

(Passcode enabling is under Settings: General)

Also am really liking the free Instapaper app. Can save contents of up to 10 online things to read later. Using it for tourist type things I want to refer to later.

What else am I missing? Mind is really like a steel sieve lately :rotfl:

This is the site I used. I'm sure that you can put in other airport codes and track the flights from that airport. I clicked on her flight, and a few pages later there was a "Track This Plane in Real Time" option and when I clicked that it opened up Google Maps and showed the plane in real time. It's cool!

http://www.flightstats.com/go/Airport/airportDetails.do?airportCode=YYZ
Thanks. I emailed this and the flight info to both sets of parents.
ok, making progredd on the to do list for the cruise... Not so sure about hte house cleaning. Wish that I could claim an earthquake but without all the drama and destruction!

I did manage to get our survival kits for the drive home on the 2nd ordered from Shirley at Perfect Gift. She is a gem!! I also printed every doc I could find and have them in seperate envelopes.

I got 12 pounds of dry macaroni cooked for mac and cheese for our fund raiser, and managed to bake 60 brownies... Was aiming for 75, but since the kids were salivating over stuff I ws taking to the office I decided to bake cookies for my kids instead of another double batch of brownies. Hope that 15 brownies doesn't make us miss our goal!!

I have just one issue now - I printed up a TON of magnets and now I can't find them... Guess what I will be doing tomorrow after work? yep, tearing up the house trying to find them all!!

Nighty night all!!

Just make Stephen and Becca pay for the 15 brownies!!

We fly on Monday from Spokane to Ft. Lauderdale and then Wed to Barcelona.
He has not seen a private provider, although we have insurance that he could use. We REALLY like is PCP at the VA, it is just the system is so cumbersome. He did use our private ins and medicare to get his eye surgery because the VA said it would be a forever wait to get them done. I have to smile because many of my veterans I worked with as an advocate thought DamnVA was one word. :-)

Looking at the seatguru site though, it seems he won't be able to use it in economy without a battery, which VA did not include although they said they would. So, I guess we will just have to use the breath right strips for a little help and I will have to try to keep an eye on him as well. We are going to be a tired grandma and grandpa, BUT WE ARE GOING ON A 14 DAY DISNEY CRUISE!!!!!! :dance3::yay:

That is a helpful site. We have never had a problem with TSA and have flown with it in carryon many times. They do want us to take it out of the bag for screening and they wand it for explosives each time. We have no problem with them doing that.

Best of luck to both of you that you can get some decent rest.

I cannot even begin to imagine going thru so many aftershocks.

I used the site of Earth Cam and typed in the name of Malta so I hope I can follow it the next few days coming into the other ports. It refreshes a lot so you might not get the Magic the first try
http://www.earthcam.com/malta/valletta/?cam=malta

I saw it!!

Been busy with a very sick kiddo but wanted to add some info that may be redundant as I haven't had time to read through the thread :) So I apologize in advance if this is all repeat.

Platinum cruisers out there, FYI on the EBTA we were offered a Galley/Stores Tour as one of the Platinum experience choices. If offered, I HIGHLY recommend this, we got to see so much and it was so interesting (we were taken down into the coolers, refrigerators, saw all the stores, what brands, etc.). This was a great tour and photos were allowed.

At the Barcelona port there were shops that sold sundries and liquor. There was water available for purchase but the only bottles we saw were the huge ones (I believe they came in a six or eight pack). Maybe bigger than some might like to carry on excursions. The prices in my opinion were not bad at all.

In Gibraltar, we used US Dollars for everything. We took the standard tour offered by Taxi Drivers when we got off the ship and it was wonderful and not expensive. If you are planning on the cable car, the line got incredibly long and there was a problem with a group on a DCL excursion and they did not get to do the cable car. The groups that departed first for the excursion, i.e. managed to stay ahead of the pack had no trouble. I'm pretty sure DCL ended up refunding this excursion for more than a few people and hopefully has better planned this time.

If you have kids 5-12 on the EBTA they offered the sleep over in the club/lab. This was a ticketed event, so if it is offered and done like last time you had to go to guest services and get the tickets and while they seemed to have plenty it was advertised as "limited". Our kids loved it.

Another thing we loved if they have it again was the Princess at Sea Tea :) This was held multiple times depending on your dining rotations and was in the afternoon (thinking 1 or 2 o'clock).

I think I saw someone asked about a talent show? On the EBTA we had both a guest and a crew talent show.

Madeira was wonderful, we did it on our own but a lot of people used Daniel's and they all loved their tours!

I hope everyone is healthy, packed, excited and ready to cruise.

We will be doing a mad dash to get done in time to leave for London on Wednesday, now was behind with dd being so sick.

Thanks for the info. Hope your DD gets better quickly. Where was the guest talent show held? Adam has been preparing some songs on the piano for a while now. Tonight, he plays for a church service. There is a women's retreat and they have an opening service to pray for all the participants. He's very nervous as he has never played for people to sing, but I'm sure he'll do a great job. I've been singing along to the songs while he plays to help him out. He'll do a much better job tonight when he has a better singer to lead the songs!

BARCELONA GROCER: There was a conversation or two about a grocery market in the metro area of Barcelona. I've either lost my note about it or didn't save it. Does anyone have record of where that's at?

It's indeed feeling like fall here. It got down well into the 40F's last night. It's 7:40 am now, and it's a brrrrrrr 49F degrees. I LOVE fall, but seeing trees already turning (very early) and falling down is sad.

I don't know if it's the weather or allergies, but I've been sneezing a lot. So I think I'm going to take cold medications to try and keep any illness from coming on.
I'm loving the cooldown in the Midwest after all the 90's we've had. I think allergies are causing all your sneezing. We desperately need some rain to wash all these allergens out of the air, not to mention green up the grass. The leaves are also falling early due to being stressed from lack of water.

Sue: 2 questions - how do you set up a bridge tour? Is that for Concierge level only? I have been dying to do that and no luck they told us after 9/11. Second, how do I know what Martini tasting I am at? I know stupid question and yes, you will get a hug in 8 days!!!

Terapin - I always tell people that if they turn on the TV and they don't hear bad news, I made it okay. I know it isn't the most convenient thing to do, but until you catch up with the time change! I do like the tracking on the computer.
I wish DMIL would follow this advice. In my email to her, I said I wasn't calling when we arrive in Barcelona.

Hey everyone, I am soooo behind. Terry's granny died on Sunday so I have had the in-laws staying and the funeral today. Will have the in-laws for a few more days and I am finding it impossible to find the time to get on.

OK, will try to catch up next week, I promise ;)
Pmd you..
I will be updating it on the weekend with the tastings and the tour if a time has been decided?
4pm
I think they are normally scheduled for one hour. Perhaps we should schedule the room tour for 1545 to give us a few minutes to get there?
Can we make it a rounded time, say we will start at 1600 but we can meet any time really at the 2 cat 10s and the cabin oppopsite
Tony and I have just returned from shopping where we picked up a few things for the cruise:

- new quad band phone we can use in USA.
- a watch for Tony so he can see the time when we are off the ship as he tends to panic and we won't be carrying the phone around all the time.
- a notebook for me to write lots of notes in
- a couple of Welsh things to give as gifts

This afternoon I am finishing off FE gifts and scrapooking gifts ( STILL :scared1: ) I will also call DCL to reserve a water package and rainforest passes for one day. I also need to book our magic express from port orleans to the airport :sad2::sad2:
Cool, I am trying to get the "stolen/lost phone " unblocked for len.

You might do what I do is bring books about our travels and make plans for the trip. I can get lots of things accomplished while I am getting my hair colored.

Well this one was really quick and I was out in under 2 hours. I have been places where I have been in 3 hours for the same sort of cut/colour! Now that makes me a bit cross.

Today I got to browse/read about 5 Hello type mags. Jordan is pregnant, Jordan isn't pregnant. Jordan and hubby are about to split, Jordan and hubby are fine. So and so got married, so and so is pregnant. So and so looks too fat, so and so looks too thin. So and so looks great in this dress. So and so is showing her bulges in that dress. Oh and all the female stars have bunions and terrible feet! I know that for a fact as I saw the photos!

Oh dear, my mind is numb. But I love to look at them at the hairdressers.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Well, of course it will rain....the Morkerts will be in town! :sad2::headache: It has rained here all spring and summer! We thought we left that in Oregon.

Isn't that just typical .... two of the many things I really feel anxious about are flying and thunderstorms, and combining the two just isn't good. We land on the 16th .... so I will be a wreck. We could do without rain and thunder on the 18th too please, we have a sailaway party to go to :yay::yay:
:rolleyes1

That means less sleep for you too Angie.

That is a real pain. Shame you can't get a battery pack as an add on!

It's ok, I'm healthy and a trooper! :thumbsup2

Oh and thanks again for all the well wishes, they must have worked cause Im a bit better today, work was a real trial last night, we had a client that was a bit eh,,,,,,,, difficult, actually he was so bad it was almost funny, some folks realy do come in looking for an argument at every turn, :confused3
Oh man, it is the only good thing about getting old, you can deal with things better and calmer than 10 years ago thats for sure.
He had an accent from another european country, :rotfl2: wish I could get it down how bad/funny it was but I just couldnt do it justice, in the end he said as he left, being sarcastic " well thankyou very much " and I said
" no sir, thankyou you very much and a good night to you":thumbsup2

I cant wait to hear what the day shift make of him.

By the way , the cats fine, even though it did not get an mri scan for its sore tail like the owner demanded. (we dont have an mri scanner by the way,and if we did he had no money, all it needed was a pain killer shot but he had been watching too many er tv programes I think)

Other funny thing was I asked for a contact number, he said.......
"well the telephone folks are as bad as you(me) and gave me beep beep service, when i told them they put the phone down on me and seem to have cut my phone of so I have no phone":rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
NO....really?:rotfl2:
Ps , lovely big smelly entire tom cat, day shift will be loving the aroma;)

Too funny!! Glad you are able to laugh about it. It always amazes me when folks are rude to people that are going to have the wellbeing of their pets or family in their hands. :confused3 My step sister and BIL were really awful to the medical staff caring for my Dad before he passed. I was appalled for more than one reason. Dennis and I apologized for them, of course. I was thinking if 2 patients need assistance at the same time who are they going to help first....the nice family or the awful ones. Besides, it is just so much easier to be kind.

When both my sister and Dad were in Kaiser, the nurses and doctors were so helpful and caring. I have found in life if you treat people the way that you want to be treated, you usually get much farther. Of course, there are always exceptions to every rule but I try to remember the old adage, what goes around comes around for those instances.

I am not a complainer but don't give me an attitude before I even open my mouth!! My DD Jennifer, her children and I once went to dinner at the Prado in San Diego. We were all well dressed, children well behaved and the first to be seated. I supposed our waiter decided because we were two women with children we would not tip well. He decided not to even come over until other tables were seated. We had to ask him for water and he avoided us as much as possible Even though we were seated first, he served us last, give us poor service and generally had a surly attitude toward our table. My grandchildren started to get restless as they were hungry!!

I almost always tip 20% or more having a daughter in the service business, I know how the staff depends on tips. Our bill for this meal came to almost $200. I had expected this and had been prepared to tip accordingly.

At the end of the dinner, I left the table and went to see the hostess. I asked for the manager who promptly came out. I explained why I was only going to tip 10% and why. He was very courteous and offered to reduce our bill which I refused. I told him I was very happy with the food, just not the service. The way he responded to me indicated that this was not the first complaint he had had about this server. I felt that it was important enough to complain as he partially ruined what should have been a great experience for us on our trip. This is the first and only time in my life that I felt it was important enough to make a statement in a restaurant.

Famous in our eyes!!!! I know HIM!!! :snooty:

How sweet!! I will be sure to tell him!!

my hairs cool but not 2 and half hours cool.....

Which date is the cabin tour again ?? Did you find the phone in the end Lynne?

My hair takes ages as it's quite long at the back. Might have a few inches off though and I am going lighter. I have been known to fall asleep at the washing / head massaging stage!
